My first visit to the Queen of Tarts was the day before Christmas of 2004. I was having company from out of town and was in search of the perfect desert. On the way back from a friend's home in Swedesboro, I spotted the quaint little bakery sign and decided to stop in and take a look.
The shop is located in an older building and is really a standard shop with bakery case and a few knick-knacks here and there. The case is that day was almost empty, but I took one of the last yule logs and the Queen herself added more decorative mushrooms for me. (she didn't have a crown on, but I knew it was the Queen in disguise...I played along)
Let me say that the yule log was the hit of the holiday. Guess what I'm ordering this year??
We did make two subsequent visits to the bakery. Once for my mother's birthday cake, which was a delectable white cake with raspberry filling. My husband also bought me a birthday cake earlier in the summer. It was the white chocolate raspberry torte. I wasn't thrilled with it, but then, I'm not a white chocolate fan. Two out of three...not too bad Queenie!
