Best

Literally, RUN, dont walk! Punjab Sweets is absolute heaven! Fresh and delicious real authentic punjabi/south indian food. Just like home cooked. I visit Punjab sweets at least 2-...

Worst

It ruined our Friday night. We ordered carry out and the food tasted like it was cooked in overused burnt oil. Never again Pros: Variety is good, some items are hard to find...

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/30/2013

My husband and I were at Punjab Sweets a few months ago to sample their sweets because we wanted to place a rather large order for a party that we wanted to have over the holiday season. Whilst we were there, we met with one of the co-owners or managers, I am unsure his name was Manpreet. When we initially spoke to him about our order he was very keen for our business and most happy to help. He even gave me his cell phone number. When it came time to actually placing the order, I called and his number apparently didn't exist. So I called the Punjab Sweets shop, several times, each time I called I was told to call back in a couple of hours, he was never in and hence conveniently never available. Go figure!! One time a rather rude Punjabi lady screamed at me. I finally got an email address which I wrote to, thanks to one of the servers who gave me the address, I am still waiting to hear from him, this was more than a month ago.\r \r We gave up, went to Mayuri Bakery in Redmond instead who did a phenomenal job of executing our order. Punjab Sweets lost not only our business but also the business of another friend who wanted to place a similar order. Going forward we are going to make sure we recommend Mayuri over Punjab Sweets to our rather large social circle and business colleagues. \r \r Punjab Sweets is frankly unprofessional, they are tardy and will NEVER return your calls or emails. Be prepared to strap in for a wild goose chase if you do decide to go with them, and be ready to be disappointed. Like I said, go with Mayuri instead. As for Manpreet, never do business with him, I'd recommend someone else from their management team instead. more

Best in town! 12/4/2011

Literally, RUN, dont walk! Punjab Sweets is absolute heaven! Fresh and delicious real authentic punjabi/south indian food. Just like home cooked. I visit Punjab sweets at least 2-3 times a week and I have experienced nothing but great ambience and awesome service. I love this place! more

Home made authentic REAL indian food 11/20/2011

My headline should be Punjab Sweets new name! This place is the best I've ever been to, hands down. Amazing mouthwatering sweets along with food that tastes like my mother just made from the kitchen. Really reminds me of back home, which is why I love this place! Awesome service every visit and fun music. Too bad I live 40 minutes away or else I would be here more often. more

BEST SOUTH INDIAN FOOD 11/7/2011

When you first park in front of Punjab sweets, it looks as if you just stopped at a pawn shop. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, when I entered punjab sweets my thoughts brought me to a 360. The food was so yummy! The waitresses there were also very kind and helpful. I've tried many indian restaurants and this place was by far the best stop I've ever made. I can't wait to come by, next time I will bring my family! more

PUNJAB SWEETS DINING AND FOOD QUALITY EXPERIENCE 11/6/2011

I eat at many Indian restaurants this is by FAR THE WORST. The curries taste like yesterdays left over only watered down and tons of salt added served with old bread "roti". The SERVER IS ABSOLUTELY RUDE! There is no reason for rudeness and bad customer service in america and I believe this restaurant will never learn. BAD, RUDE SERVICE, HORRIBLE OLD FOOD WITH LOTS OF GREASE AND SALT....DONT WASTE YOUR Time and money. more

PUNJAB SWEETS, Amazing food, Amazing Service! 11/6/2011

I recently went into Punjab Sweets on Sunday morning and the experience was amazing! Food was great and the staff was very helpful and kind. The raves about this place being to expensive is incorrect. The prices were affordable, and atmosphere was great! Will visit again very soon! more

Really rude service 2/19/2009

We went there for lunch - the lady was rude to us when taking our orders. Another lady came to our table and served some food and mumbled something and so we assumed that it was on the house. When we started eating it the lady came over and started yelling even though we said that we were sorry and would pay for it. They treat customers like trash and really spoil the dining experience Pros: ok food Cons: really bad service more

YUMM! 10/2/2008

The food was amazing, and the service was amazing! I had just visited the resturant recently, and i was 100% satisfied. The place left so right to belong in. Beautifuly decorated! Definatley recommended. more

Bad service, average food, too expensive 9/13/2008

We had heard about this place from few people. So we drove 30 miles to check it out. We ordered thali, chana bhatura, some appetizers and some sweets. Food was expensive for its quantity and taste was average. Chana bhaturas were good but everything else was average. Sweets were not at all good. Service was also terrible. I waited for 10 minutes for ordering an extra bhatura while 2 girls there just kept looking. Even after ordering, girl there kept standing and didn't even go inside to check if it was ready. I had to wait for 20 minutes to get one bhatura. Terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. For such an average place, don't waste your time. Pros: You get indian food Cons: Service, food, price more

One of the Best in Seattle 8/27/2008

Punjab Sweets is some of the best Indian food and vegetarian food I've had. Parotha, Channa Samosa, Bhindi, etc - this is one of the most authentic Indian restaurants you'll find in the Puget Sound. They have a great candy section as well. (which they sell online I believe...). Punjab Sweets I believe has also won many awards for their food as well.... Pros: Value, Taste, Food Cons: location more

BAD SERVICE, EXPENSIVE. 8/17/2008

Bad service, had to wait around the counter for way longer than a reasonable time while another unlucky customer waited behind me in line-- two girls at the counter were too busy talking and going back and forth to the kitchen. They clearly knew their customer service was below par, but they failed to acknowledge the waiting customers or even offer a customery sorry or appologies. more

Preets - Uncooked food and food gone bad served 8/9/2008

I used to frequent this place and yesterday I took my family from out of town there hoping for a great dinner. Even though I had noticed the fall in standards in the quality of food in the last few visits, I wanted to believe that they were probably those one off days. But yesterdays visit has left a very bad taste in my mouth. The paneer pakoras were uncooked. WE could taste the chickpea four in the pakoras. In the main course, we were actually served food that had gone bad. I had ordered for Saag and makki ki roti. The saag had gone bad and the makki ki roti was uncooked. Again, I could taste and see the uncooked corn flour in the makki roti. I think what took the cake was when I told them about the uncooked roti, they took my rotis in (I had taken couple bites from the roti), reheated it and brought it back. As you can imagine, when you reheat rotis, they become papads (stiff crispies). They took all the feedback but charged us for the food we ordered but couldn't eat. I had heard bad reviews about the place lately but now they have lost me as a customer. Pros: Ambience Cons: Uncooked food and food gone bad more

They Need to Open in Seattle 5/5/2008

I will drive to Punjab Sweets from Bellevue because its better than most if not all Indian Restaurants around because...its fresh and relatively cheap and its simple really, really good. I'm surprised this isn't talked about in the same breath as the best Indian Restaurants in Seattle... Maki Di Roti with Saag is amazing! The Channa Samosa's are awesome. This restaurant would have lines out the door on the Eastside or in Seattle. No question. Definitely worth the travel. They have really good & unique Indian / ethnic candy as well. Pros: great indian food, sweets, shakes, people Cons: its far away from me - in kent more

There surely is better out there... 4/27/2008

This place has raved reviews and they are very proud of the press converage they have received as demonstrated through the press cuttings displayed on the wall but beware... Their somosas are below average. The paneer pokaras and veggie pokoras were very stodgy and may well have been a couple of days old simply reheated in the microwave. C'mon guys - don't think you can run a below par joint now that you have had a handful of good reviews. more

indian food 3/21/2008

best indian food in the country.fresh and tastes like home cooked food.their sweets are also very authentic. great going a must go place to have indian food. more

Great Indian Food! 2/19/2008

Our friends from Bombay and New Delhi recommend that we eat here saying it was the best Indian food in the area (unless Shavani?s mom is visiting from Bombay). They were right! We?ll often call in an order of the sampler plate of appetizers, a parotha and aloo gobi and take it home. We?ve tried many of the dishes, sometimes with our friends as guides on their favorite dishes and we?ve never been disappointed. Pros: Very tasty, low prices, made fresh Cons: The strip mall/neighborhood they are in is on the lower end more

Double whammy. Expensive $$$ for below average food/snacks 8/29/2007

I am from Vancouver Canada and was in the area for business. Checked out this place and was totally disappointed. Looks like the very previous review has been written by someone known to the owners. The Samosas that have been praised were really really bad. It is all about filling. That kind of filling is used for Aaloo Tikki and never for samosas. I bet if you ordered Aaloo parantha, you would get the same filling. Besides a couple of their entrees, I also picked up their home made namkeens. Boy they smelled. It seems like they used oil that was burnt. Two packs @4.99/lb, what a waste. I know North Indian food (from Canada) and this place wouldn't be in the top 100 out there, let alone top 10. Also worth mentioning is that when i was there, a couple walked in and were standing behind me waiting for their turn. The person at the counter didnt even acknowledge their presence from the moment they walked in. She took my order and simply walked inside the kitchen. They guys felt bad and just walked out. So much so for courtsey. I could also see used utensils that were served to someone in there were still lying on the table. One of the reviews rightly says, that you have to know them to be served well. Food is nothing great there. Ignorance is bliss so if you dont know about North Indian a.k.a Panjabi food, take your chance. If you know your food, seek another restaurant serving Indian cuisine. The food here is definitely not worth the price. Pros: Freshly made (not sure about the ingredients) Cons: Expensive, Food below average more

Best samosa in the area...! 8/10/2007

Just to let you know, my family and I have been regulars here since 2003. We usually dine at Punjab Sweets almost twice a month from Tacoma, and always enjoy the food and service. The owners have known us for years now and treat us like family and never fail to greet us with smiles and give my little daughter a free dessert when we go there. We love this place not only because it serves real food, but because the prices are reasonable (most expensive dish is $8), we enjoy the warm atmosphere (they recently just remodeled and it looks great), and most of all everything just tastes excellent. My wife loves the parothas, while I go for the channa bhattoora and samosay! I would agree that they do take quite a bit of time preparing everything, but I think if the taste wasn't worth the wait we would have stopped commuting from Tacoma all these years. Quite honestly, though this is probably their biggest complaint. We know the routine, so we just take things to occupy the kids with until the food is ready. I would definitely recommend you try this family place. You won't be disappointed! Pros: Fresh authentic flavors, love the colors and decorations inside Cons: Take time to serve the food more

Good for sweets, Avg for food - $$$$ 7/29/2007

I travel for a living and after landing in Seattle was looking for good North Indian food. Being a Punjabi (from Muktsar) i read the reviews and decided that this looked like the place to be I visited this place quite a few times trying different entrees and snacks like Samosa, Ticki, Saag with Makki roti, Malai kofta, chana bhatura, Karhi and few other. Samosas at $1.99 a piece (with chutney alone) were below par. The filling in them was exactly what the aloo tickis were made of. When eating both we (me & my wife) could not decide if we were eating a samosa or a aloo ticki. The much anticipated Makki roti with Saag was a big letdown. The Saag neither had the the taste nor the color (deep green) of saag (green mustard) at all. Looks like they used spinach or something else. Karhi was avg as well. The malai koftas on one occasion were cold while the curry was hot. Seems like the curry was made fresh but the kofta (dumpling) was prepared and warmed up and put in the curry. Also they make Roti's on the tawa. No Tandoor at this place. Chana Bhatura were ok but chana tasted different on different occasions. No consistency in taste or flavor. I also purchased their home made snacks. All i will say is stick to the Haldiram snacks. The wait can be anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes. A lot of times i saw that the tables were never cleaned up and utensils from the previous guests were still lying on the tables. Personally for me, seeking true Punjabi food, it was a big letdown. Did i forgot to mention that this place is not cheap Also the quantity served does not match the price when compared to most of the other places. If you dont know much about North Indian & especially Punjabi food then it is probably ok but if you are seeking true North Indian cuisine then try it but do not raise your expectations A place for vegetarians only, they also carry an assortment of north indian sweets whichare fresh and delecious. so if you have a sweet tooth, do try the sweets. Pros: Good home made sweets/desserts Cons: No consistency in Flavour, Not authentic Punjabi food, Expensive more

The experience was worth it! 4/7/2007

Just dined here last night, and the food was great! This was my first time visiting the place and I had alot of expectations since my Indian friends at work had highly recommened I come here. The first impression I got when I walked in was that it was very inviting and the decor was really different..in a good way though. The food took some time to come out after I ordered, but I was warned about this earlier so I wasn't surprised. I am told the items are made fresh, so it takes a bit to prepare the dishes. Anyways, I had the sampler, eggplant dish, and the aloo gobi. Everything had such flavor and the taste was definitely fresh and very filling. I am not much of a food critic, but I wanted to let others know what a great experience I had here. The service was very warm and friendly, the prices were very reasonable (not sure what the previous reviewer here was thinking. I had an appetizer and two complete entrees for under $20!!), the spice level was a bit more than my wife is used to but nonetheless she still enjoyed it. Would most definitely recommend this place to everyone... Pros: nice decor, great service, food is fresh and flavorful Cons: its in Kent, the hours more
