Puddleby On The Hill

I looked them up to get the phone number for a friend and saw the negative reviews so I had to write a positive one. I live in South Carolina now but I used Puddleby for years when I lived in Sanford, ME and even after I moved to NH. I used to have my dog groomed there also but I'm not sure if they still do that anymore. It is a wonderful place, the owners are very nice people and all of their employees are great also. more

After reading the two reviews below, I just had to write a review. This is the most wonderful kennel we have ever used. First, the price ($15/day for a dog) is extremely reasonable. Second it is very clean and everyone including the owner is extremely friendly and true dog lovers. Our dog is a Wheaton Soft Coat Terrier with lots of energy and she is always delighted to stay. We bring her into the office and she immediately heads for the door into the kennel, ready for another adventure. On the pick up morning, all dogs are bathed and blow dried. more

So please don't be fooled by the nice homey feeling room with the wooden beams,and the nice classical music. If you were to ask to see the rest of the place where the dogs stay,you would deff think twice about leaving your dogs there. The owner isn't a very friendly man to the workers,and i have seen many dogs get kennel cough while i worked thier. I felt bad for a lot of the dogs there,some people weren't very friendly either to the animals. Pros: Most of the teens work hard. Cons: too many to type. more

It sits out on gorges villa looking out over Maine's countryside. Every thing looks spotless and the dogs look like like they have lots of room to run. Don't be fooled! both our dogs came back with: kennel cough . eye infections , and staph infections . Over the course of 1 week each of our dogs lost 11 pounds each . They were so dehydrated that the vet was unable to take a blod sample for 3 weeks. I am not exaderating at all. Our vet was absolutely appalled of the condition that our dogs were in he took it upon himself to write a 3 paged letter to the owner. The owner is oblivious to the dogs and wont let them go to the bathroom anywhere except on marked areas around the facility. Your dogs will be put in the hands of unexperienced young teenagers. All dogs where chock collars except Pitt bulls , bulldogs , and dover man pincers they must where barbed chock collars. These tools can be deadly when given to unexperienced care givers. I recommend that this is the last place on earth to take your dogs ! Pros: none Cons: amaciated , dogs were not given medications, came back withstaph infestions ,kennel couph , dehydrated , mannourshed, lost 11 pounds more
