Pudding Stones from day 1 has been amazing- from the food, to the large selection of delicious wines, to the incredible service! This is where my girlfriends and I meet after work and we end up spending hours. Its very cozy-dim lit with candles everywhere! Not expensive either! Pros: Best Upper East Side bar! more

My girlfriend and I checked out the wine bar on a thursday evening, around 6:30 or so, a little early. There was practically no one there. The waitress wasn't friendly, for having 2 tables while we were there. And we selected 2 different bottles of wine to drink and they didn't have either of them. Small but elegantly decorated in a comfortable minimalist style, this venue feels more like cool LES than the usual eateries of UES. The wine selection is plentiful...and even interesting. Try the trio flights for a mere $12-$14 (a great deal for a selection of 3). Though appetizers look expensive, the portion is good enough to share. Duck pate was superb tonight!! Food was well presented...pretty and clean...not overly trying. Main course was reasonably portioned... the burger was well flavored (though fries were totally wimpy). Dinner-pal & I didnt have room for desserts, but the ambience was great enough for delicious conversations to go with the wine. Great place for a 1st date...and comfortable enough as a regular haunt. The service was great (Ariel, the bartender, is a great guy), the wine was great, the decor is chic and inviting, and the food was great (though a bit on the small side). I'd definitely recommend this for a quiet night out on a date or with girlfriends. \r \r However, I do have to say that if you're looking to meet a guy, DO NOT GO HERE. While everyone seemed nice and friendly, the crowd was 95% women in their 30's, many of them cougars. I sat at the bar for 5 hours and the whole time, a grand total of 3 men came and went. \r \r But all in all, it was a great place. Pros: Everything! Love Love Love this place. Only a few decent wine bars on all of the UES amongst all the irish pubs. This place stands out. Perfect for a 1st date or to catch up with a girlfriend. I was visiting my mother who lives on the upper east side and found this treasure called Pudding Stone.\r I have been to France and I compare everything to it, nothing stands up. Pudding Stone is my new standard. The food was amazing, the Design out of a style magazine, and the service- NYC's best. It is now my favorite place to go get a bite that I know will be excellent. This is a great wine bar. Great crowd, great service and an amazing selection of wines. We have been many times and it has never failed. Bobby is a true Oenophile and their wine offerings reflect his expertise. There is no better place on the UES. more
