Providence Place Cinema

This theater has great stadium style seating and sound which makes the movie really come to life. Aside from the high prices my biggest complaint would have to be about the rowdy youngsters who often attend the showings. They need more security to keep these teenagers in check ! more

One of the biggest draws at this mall is the Nordstrom, which I believe is the only one in New England (great for its gigantic shoe department). The mall is relatively new, and it still appears very shiny and clean. The many large windows make it very enjoyable to walk around and also to look at the action below (you can get a great view of Waterfire from inside the mall). If you're staying at the Providence Westin, you have direct access to the mall from the hotel. The Pottery Barn Kids here has a story hour pretty much every day, and the adult Pottery Barn is one of the nicest ones. You have to pay for parking, and even though it's not that much, it's a little annoying (but I suppose otherwise everyone would just go and park there since parking in the area is otherwise scarce). This theater is great with the stadium seating and reclining seats. My wife doesn't like the seats because she like to scrunch down in them, and the headrest "bends her head forward." I don't mind them at all. The movie selection is good, but the prices are high. Matinées are affordable and offer a nice break from an afternoon of shopping. more

Providence Place is a relatively new mall, helping to revitalize downtown Providence. It has both your typical shops as well as some you wouldn't find in every mall. These include J.Crew, Nordstroms, Filene's, Godiva, Lindt Chocolate, Le Gourment Chef, H&M, CVS, and Old Navy. In the mall are also several restaurants which include the ever popular Cheesecake Factor, Fire & Ice, among others. There's also a Dave & Barry's, a large movie theatre, and an IMAX. It's basically your one stop shop for all you need. It's easily accessible by trolley or you can even walk from many places in Providence. There's plenty of parking the the garage, which is free as long as you get your parking validated in the mall. more

Providence Place Cinema is a great place for a date because you have it all right there inside the mall. The movie theater is located above the food court, on it's own level. It's right next to the Imax Theater. You can grab a bite to eat and then head upstairs for a movie. If you plan it right, on a night when they have Waterfires on the river, the mall is open late, and you can watch the fires from the mall or walk outside to see them. more

I saw "Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith" at this cinema. The screen, sound system and stadium seating were great. The movie started on time. The lobby was clean and spacious. And the employees were polite and courteous. In fact, I realized that I had lost something after I had left the cinema, and the attendent allowed me back in, unaccompanied (this was after a change in shift, so he had not seem me leave earlier). Trust is rare in todays world. The only downside to this experience, was that the movie theaters are located on the top level of the mall. So there is quite a trek, up four floors. In addition, the parking situation in the mall garage is an engineering nightmare, and it took way too long to get out of it. more

This mall has it all! There are so many stores to choose from. They have the anchor stores of Macy's, Nordstrom and JC Penney's as well as tons of other name brand stores. The food court is huge, and there are two movie theaters on the top level. They also have Dave and Barry's restaurant, which has an excellent up-scale arcade. They extend their hours during the summer when the city has the Waterfires. more
