I finally have found a perfect fit for my exercise needs and schedule! The team dynamic works great for me. I enjoy having the opportunity to work with different trainers who collaborate on my needs. James, Luis and David are great trainers. They each have individual styles that keep it interesting and are all genuinely interested in helping you achieve your goals. Each training session is geared around how you are feeling each time you come in. They know when you can be pushed and when you might need to back off. Your well being and form if foremost in their approach. I have worked out with many personal trainers over the years and I have never met a group who truly care about you. Having one on one training is so much better than the group dynamic for so many reasons. more

Great One on One Attention 7/20/2011

As someone who is very active in the fitness industry, I will say I have not met more qualified personal trainers than James and Luis. I enjoy the healthy snacks they always have for me as well, so cute! Their private personal training studio in Chelsea is a great space and I enjoy going to my workout there once a week. The gym is always clean and the bathroom/shower is really convenient so I can run to work after. PPT recently started small group training and I have gone to a few classes of that it! A few of my friends and I decided to go together and we really had a blast-as well as an exhausting workout. I've had many personal trainers throughout my time in NYC but PPT has got me hooked. more

Great Saturday Morning Bootcamp 9/21/2010

James has created an fun workout routine that is ideal to sweat out the booze from the night before, but not make you feel like you wish you never came. The outdoor workout consists of a full body exercises that use a lot of bungee cords and simple agility movements. It is a great hour that has you leaving felling good about what you just accomplished and ready to enjoy the rest of the weekend. more

At a time when my body became very weak and my extremities were in pain due to limited core strength, James helped me improve my balance and strength with simple routines that erradicated my pain and helped me feel like I was in control of my body again. James has been my trainer for 10 years. He takes a personal and sincere interest in seeing that particular exercises are making me stronger. As an older woman, I am aware of greater endurance as James continues to push me, gently, through our sessions. I must also mention that James is always prompt, caring, and efficient. James is a great trainer, and an all around great guy. I've been training with James for over a year now and have never been in better shape. He was able to devise a balanced program for me of cardio, weightlifting and core exercises. I now feel that I know my way around the gym and understand how to target certain muscle groups and vary my exercises so I don't plateau and get stale. Highly recommend James. more

When we first met, about a year ago, James asked detailed questions about my health and fitness goals, and then designed an individual program to address them. Trust me when I say that I had never considered going to a personal trainer for a few reasons including body image issues. By far the best trainer I have had 10/20/2009

I went to see James with 30 lbs of extra weight on me at the age of 32 and in pretty bad shape. He was my first - and by far the best - trainer I have ever had. Having moved around the past couple of years I have been unable to find someone like him. Unlike other experiences, I did not wake up the next morning with the obligatory painful muscles yet without realizing it, I leaned out and became very toned over the next 3-4 weeks. As a female, he understood how I wanted to look; he didn't talk incessantly (my pet hate); and I left each session feeling like I achieved a very satisfactory workout. Not one did I regret waking up early for. It sounds cliche but he really did transform my body and helped me see exercise as a way of life. Pros: Straight up; always professional and cordial; new his stuff Cons: I honestly cannot think of any more

I have been training with James for over a year and can say without a doubt that he has changed not only my physical appearance but my attitude to health and fitness. Best Trainer For Your Money and Time 6/10/2008

I have been working with James for over ten years. His exceptional education and interpersonal skills make him an ideal trainer for older clients and those with special needs. James helped me recover quickly from a hip-replacement operation (he even researched my condition before tailoring a program for me). He makes sessions fun for those who hate to exercise and varies his approach for each client to achieve maximum motivation (for those of us who are difficult to motivate). Most importantly, he gets results and, therefore, is in great demand. See if he can find time for you, his sessions fill up quiickly. Pros: Exceptional motivation skills that achieve real results. I started working out with James when I was three months pregnant and we continued training throughout my pregnancy. James was very knowledgable on prenatal fitness, and designed a very safe and effective program for me. I attribute my easy child birth and fast recovery and weight loss to our consistent workouts. James and I continue to work out and I feel fabulous and four months later have lost nearly all of my baby weight. more

An excellent trainer and teacher 8/20/2006

I started working with James about a year and a half ago, having not really worked out before aside from sporadic and unfocused attempts. He guided me gently toward a better understanding of my body and what I needed to do to accomplish my goals - and he taught me how to do that while maintaining good form and avoiding overextending myself. My fitness level and my self-image have improved considerably as a result of working with James. I recommend him with no reservations whatsoever. Effective, Professional, Knowledgeable 8/20/2006

I started training with James a couple of years ago when I realized that my wife (who had been training with him for 2 years) was looking and feeling better than she had in years and I figured I had best get in shape! James keeps incredible records of my progress -- he is fully aware of what we did the week before, the month before and the year before. He keeps the workouts interesting and varied. He is emphatic about doing each exercise correctly and with the proper form. I have a pre-existing problem with my shoulder and because of his in-depth knowledge of injuries, he is helping me overcome it. If you want to see results and learn how to train properly and effectively, I highly recommend James. more

Changed the Way I Look and Feel!! 8/20/2006

I have been training with James since May 2006 and in that small amount of time my body has changed tremendously. I dropped two sizes without dieting!!! I would highly recommend him to anyone and think that he does an incredible job adapting the workout to target YOUR body. I also have back problems and we work together to make sure I only improve it and do not hurt it. My back does not hurt anymore, I am lean, more toned than in my entire adult life and feel great! more

I've been training with James since 2002 and I cannot say enough about what he has done for me both physically and mentally. I am a 47 year old woman and proud to say that my body looks amazing. I recently went to my 30th HS reunion and people took notice! I looked and felt better than I did back then. I have always been somewhat athletic but I have never looked like this. Within months of our first session I began to see results and before long, instead of dreading a workout, I began to look forward to the workout. My arms are cut, my abs look great and my core is strong. Our sessions are never boring and besides from being professional, knowledgeable, educated, and a super nice guy, James is very creative -- and great with working with injuries. Recently, I broke my wrist and obviously I was not able to lift any weights. During the 6 weeks I was in a cast (I did not want to miss a workout), James thought up ways to keep me strong with resistance training against his own body! A consummate, effective professional and extremely caring individual! 8/19/2006

I've been working with James Camastra for three years. He is an incredible professional in every way. He pays intense attention to what I do and how I do it and has a very friendly but very specific way of guiding me into proper form for maximum effect and avoidance of injury. Like no other trainer, he keeps a detailed record of every workout and is therefore able to continously adjust each session to take into account various notes he's made of my overall progress as well as specifics regarding several injuries he's helped me to overcome. At the beginning of each of the first two years I'd schedule two months of weekly workouts to get myself primed for the year. This last year I have been working continuously with James once a week every week, filling in the time between our sessions with aerobic and yoga workouts on my own. Progress with James has been noticeable and lasting. I highly recommend him! Pros: Superior knowledge, attentive, effective Cons: Absolutely none. more
