One of the best Indian restaurants 7/30/2008

This is one of the best Indian restaurants in Central NJ. The prices are reasonable, the service is surprisingly excellent (unfortunately, the service at many Indian restaurants are indifferent however Pooja's waiters are nice, always are checking to see if you need refills on your drinks, and are attentive without being overbearing like at some American restaurants you pounce on you as soon as you sit down) and their mango lassi is second to none. Try the Chicken Makhni, one of their best dishes. The portions may appear small but this is deceptive; I am a 6-0 200+ pound man and I never am able to finish the main course along with an appetizer and the tasty breads they give you upon arrival with different sauces to try out. A word of advice to the reviewer above: Don't go to Indian buffets. I thought everyone knew that. If you want to go to a good value buffet go to the Chinese ones, can't top them in terms of price or quantity of food. Lastly, one good way of telling whether or not an ethnic restaurant is authentic is by observing their customers to see if people from that culture choose to eat there. Pooja always has at least one Indian family eating there so that is a good indication that it is a good place to eat. Pros: Mango Lassi, Chicken Makhni, Good Value/Service Cons: Not open between 3-5 more

nice flavor...mediocre take-out portions. 5/28/2008

My mom & I ordered take-out from Pooja and it was OK. Everything tasted good but I felt that the portions weren't worth the money. It was just OK and i'll try them again. Pros: great flavor Cons: Small portions more

Perhaps the worst lunch buffet ever 1/6/2008

I've been to more then a few Indian restaurants and this one re-defined bad buffet. While I was walking around the table I felt like I was looking at yesterday's leftovers cooked in sauce to make it look the same. The chicken tasted like it was cooked alone and added later while the nan was still doughy when I bit into it. The only saving grace was the mango lassi. Now that was one of the best but not worth going back for if I have to eat the food. Hopefully the menu is better then the buffet. Pros: mango lassi Cons: the food more
