The Pontiac Academy for Excellence, founded in 2000, is a charter school that serves more than 1,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12. The academy offers programs in art, music, computer education, band and Spanish. It provides classes in science, social studies, reading and math, as well as administers the English Language Learners program. The Pontiac Academy for Excellence also offers food and guidance counseling services. The academy provides sports activities in cross-country, basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and track and field. In addition, it offers after-school academic assistance programs. The Pontiac Academy for Excellence s campus includes an outside play area and laptops.
