California Dreamin' 11/9/2006

If you have only enough time to do one thing on the Monterey Penninsula this is it. There are trails for every level of experience, even a wheelchair access trail with some of the best veiws in the park. The entry fee is nominal, but parking is a challenge. Summer weekends can be very crowded, but bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the vibe. Pros: Overwhelming beauty, helpful rangers and volunteers Cons: Parking more

LOVED IT! 7/22/2004

While visiting the area we visited Point Lobos 3 separate times. The children loved playing in and examining the tide pools. In fact I was just as fascinated as they were with the sealife! We packed a lunch one day and had our lunch there. All in all it was very educational and very beautiful. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area. I can't wait to go back! Pros: wildlife setting, scenary, low cost Cons: , narrow roadways more

outstanding attraction 7/23/2002

This is a must-see when you visit Carmel-Monterey. You will dream about the beauty of this environmental attraction when you get home. Don't miss it. Right up there with Monterey Bay Aquarium and 17 Mile Drive. Pros: exceptional beauty, great trails more

Nothing like it 7/21/2002

I've looked for beautiful natural spots wherever I've gone in in North and Central America, Europe, Hawaii-nothing has surpassed Big Sur for its coastline and beaches. Pros: Scenery Cons: Few accomodations, Few amenities more

The Best View on the West Coast 7/19/2002

My husband and I arrived first thing in the morning and did every trail. On one trail we had deer following us, saw several rabbits playing... The view is absolutely incredible. It is very inexpensive and you can spend an entire day there hiking and exploring. No question the best Monterey/Carmel has to offer Pros: Beautiful Views, Inexpensive, Great Hiking Trails more

Heaven on Earth 5/19/2002

The coastline encompassed by this park is the most beautiful in California. Hike the coast trail to watch sea otters play in the kelp, harbor seals lounge on the beach and whales migrating throughout the seasons. No matter what your fitness level, there is a trail or lookout point that's accessible. This park is always crowded on the weekends and fairly busy during the week. The trails are well maintained. The only downside to the park is the feeling that it's roped-in beauty (a tree museum) because some visitors can't manage to stay on trail and respect the pristine beauty of the park. Pros: Stunning Coastline, Well Maintained Cons: Crowded more
