I love this place! the delivery is perfect- faster than expected sometimes but always spiced right and tasty- so delicious.

Worst

I've never been impressed with Planet Bombay's food. While I've never had a horrible experience, most of the dishes I've tasted have flirted with blandness. If you're in Little Fi...

Worst ""Indian"" food in Atlanta? 2/7/2007

I've been here three times - takeout twice, both with surly service (I got yelled at for not checking that the food handed to me was mine) and bland food. After forgetting to specify spicyness level (I prefer ""medium"") the first time, I asked them to make it ""not mild or medium, but spicy"" on my return. There was still no discernable heat whatsoever - about as spicy as a plain cheese pizza. \r For some reason I went back a third time with low expectations, only to have them dashed; the saag, masala and korma all tasted exactly the same - heavy with cream and very low on taste and it was a complete waste of money. Indian food is supposed to be a treat, not a chore and these guys have lost not only the fire but any and all direction. I don't see any point in them pretending that this is authentic Indian food. Pros: Location Cons: Service, price, taste more

Either it be date, business, or just an all out urge for Indian, Planet Bombay does not dissapoint. 1/20/2007

There's something to be said when you've taken plenty of people to a restaurant, and it's not far from their minds when you are discussing places to eat when they visit you later. Planet Bombay does just that. Though Indian food for the inexperienced can be trying at first, the variety of the menu along with the explanation can make anyone comfortable with their selection. Options abound, and all that we've tried have been excellent. I highly recommended the Chicken Tiki Masala, Chicken Dapioza, Tandoori Chicken, or anything with Lamb (gotta love those succulent four legged critters). Have a side of mango lassi, or their excellent spicy tea and bring a friend and a great coversation topic as the service can be a little slow. Pros: Awesome Nan and Dishes, They remember your face, hilarious Bollywood on tv Cons: Bollywood is hilarious in small doses, evil front door is heavier than it looks more

Busy, busy, busy, but food was excellent 1/11/2007

If anyone loves indian food like i do you should definitely try planet bombay indian cuisine. Pros: Food & Service Cons: Parking more

What Planet Is This? Rude Service! Rough Interior! 1/6/2007

Many years ago, Planet Bombay was our favorite Indian dining destination. It had been a few years, so we popped back in. In the past, the breads, soups, and all veggies were nothing short of terrific. We walked in, had to seat ourselves, which is O.K., but we encounted one of the rudest servers in Atlanta. No one deserves to be treated in this manner. If you don't like your job, change. The soup was terrilbe, he forgot the bread, and by that time we were just over it. And as long as they have been in business, why haven't they bothered to maintain the interior of their restaurant. We certainly are not snobs when it comes to good Indian Cuisine, but there is nothing good about this planet, and it's definitly not Bollywood! Pros: Absolute Worst Service In Atlanta! That's A Pro Here! Cons: Everything! more

Planet = Great! 1/5/2007

I've always liked the Planet - but recently i really love the Planet. The spicy vindaloo and creamy saag paneer are awesome. They make a great naan which is perfect to mop up all the sauce with. The service can be a little slow - but that?s because they're usually understaffed and pretty busy - but they're always friendly. For some reason just in the past year their food seems to have gotten much much better. Maybe it's just me... Anyway I like how they don't automatically assume I can't handle spicy food and dumb it down (like most other Atlanta Indian places do) - All the food seems to come out at the perfect heat for me - consistently. It isn't a fancy, high dining restaurant - the decor is a little rough... But the food is great and like many have said previously ? the Bollywood is always bumpin! Pros: Great Vindaloo - Great Naan - Great food Cons: service can be slow at times more

The Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan Bread and a Mango Lassi is A MUST!!! 12/29/2006

Planet Bombay catered our wedding (135 guests) in May 2006. Seven months later and guests are STILL talking about how EXCELLENT the FOOD was. Our guests even dine at the restaurant now. When our out-of-town guests come here, they always want to go to ""the place that catered our wedding"". The owners and staff at Planet Bombay did a fine job in all areas. We always visit ""our favorite restaurant"" and we definitely recommend EVERYTHING on the menu. Biryani (rice dish) is often looked over by those who are new to Indian cuisine, but it's delicious - try Chicken Tikka biryani. As an Indian, I must say Planet Bombay is authentic and by far the best in Atlanta for Indian cuisine and attentive service. Pros: Authentic Indian food; very affordable; friendly servers; in the heart of lil' 5 pts. Cons: No lunch hour on Sundays more

Wonderful place 8/2/2006

I really adore this place, for the lil 5 points area it beats all the other Indian restaurants. The food is really good and the service is good also. We had sagg paneer, with nan.........boti Lamb Kabob, and chicken in butter- but the food was really really good and for most Americans that aren't used to spices i would say get a level 3 spice. Pros: great food, nice price, nice waiters Cons: i dont like the bollywood movie playing in the background more

hardly mild 7/17/2006

the atmosphere:\r i went with a friend on a weekday after work, and for almost an hour, we were the only ones in the restaurant, save the one (slightly sketch) waiter. the bollywood movies playing in the background were a little distrubing, but i'm chalking that up to after-work ADD. the restaurant was dim, even with the natural light from the windows. the bathroom was possible the most disgustng bathroom i have EVER ventured into at a restaurant: i walked in and decided i could wait. \r \r the food: \r everything we had was extremely flavorful! our entrees took a while to come out, but they came out sizzling! it was very nice to know that they had just finished cooking and hadn't been sitting around drawing flies. my friend ordered the tandoori chicken: it was delicious, but the meat was very hard to get off of the bone. i ordered the chicken saag: i ordered it mild, but it still brought a tear to my eye; it was pretty spectacular, though. the basmati rice was great, and the nan was oh-so-satisfying! \r \r overall: \r i would most definately eat here again and again, though i would be wary of the sketchy waiter (you'll know which one i'm talking about if you see him). Pros: great food, intimate setting, good price Cons: creepy waiter, prepare to be the only diners more

Best indian food 6/9/2006

if you want to eat real indian food go to planet bombay.they have a best tandori and curry dish.my fovarate dish was chic tikka masala and lamb curry. Pros: best food Cons: n/a more

A Nice Indian Beginner 6/5/2006

Me and my friend popped in on Monday, as usual, for a spicy dinner. As one of the pickiest eaters I know, if she enjoyed it must be good, and she enjoyed it. With Bollywood playing constantly in the background we started with the naan (which is made with chicken here) and opted for the spicy (her) and the next spiciest (me). While not the best we've had, it was still good, with them bringing extra rice and offering a yogurt free to cool our palates. All in all good, not the best, but okay. Pros: Large menu, Variations on spice, Location Cons: Service a lil pushy more

Choose another Indian restaurant 6/4/2006

The food was overpriced and underspiced; the sauces were clumsy and artless, containing cheap ingredients to stretch them, including an excessive amount of both salt and sugar. The chicken ""cylon"" consisted of six or seven small chunks of chicken hidden in a pile of coarsely sliced onions, and little or no coconut as was indicated on the menu. The Paneer Makhani tasted like it was made with ketchup. The nan was gummy and undercooked. My husband's glass of wine was the size of a shot glass. The service was pushy and patronizing. You'd think that Little Five Points wouldn't put up with this. Go somewhere else. Pros: great location Cons: poor quality food more

mmmm there is a god!! 12/3/2005

The food was sooo good! I HATED indian food until my sister dragged me into the quant little hole in the wall. Thank God I succumbed and ordered. I will definitly be back. Great location, especially after a little five points event! The service was very good. They made sure you were enjoying yourself and were at my beck and call with a smile. The bollywood tv was ..entertaining. It's a bit odd if you've never experienced it. 5 stars Pros: price, quiet out of the way, lots of food Cons: dark, cheesy decorations more

Spice it up 11/5/2003

We really enjoyed the food here, though the atmosphere was a little bit surreal (with the bollywood movie in the background); the food and great location really make up for it. I had the extremely spice Vindy Aloo and my boyfriend had the somwhat milder but very tasty Chicken Tikka Masala. I'll be trying a lot more from this menu! Pros: great food, appropriately priced Cons: quiet and dark inside more

Love this place! 5/9/2003

I've never had a bad experience here and always impressed with the quality of food. Give it a try and you won't be disapointed! more

Solid Indian fare 2/21/2003

You won't find any surprises on Planet Bombay's menu, just a nice selection of Indian favorites. I'm really fond of the Vindaloo, and on cold winter nights it's really hard to beat the Mulligatawny stew for comfort food. Friendly, unobtrusive service makes this a really pleasant place to have a good meal. Pros: friendly, good selection more

Nothing special 5/19/2002

I've never been impressed with Planet Bombay's food. While I've never had a horrible experience, most of the dishes I've tasted have flirted with blandness. If you're in Little Five Points and must have Indian food, Planet Bombay suffices, but don't expect anything special. more

Decent Indian food, good prices 5/15/2002

This isn't the best Indian food I've ever had, but I've never had a bad experience here and the prices are right. Tandoori dishes are a good choice, though the dhal is a bit too soupy. A good place for quick takeout, as well. more
