Plain Jane's

Plain Jane's has new owners! While I always liked this store, I never liked the staff. The new staff is friendly and the merchandise is much more reasonably priced. The selection is still great - possibley a little less eclectic but I haven't been disappointed yet. They have upgraded their wrapping and now a website. It's now a great family-owned neighborhood store with a great selection of gift items. more

Plain Jane's is located on the first block of West Portal. I always walk into this store when I am in the neigborhood and I always find nice things, but, I never buy anything because the prices are always very high. Also, everytime I go into the store, the owner of the store asks me if he can help me with anything and when I tell him that I am just looking, he walks off but continues to keep his eye on me as though I am going to steal something, which I do not appreciate at all. They always have beautiful displays on the windows and make it seem as though you can find evrything in the store, but, when I went in, not only was the prices very high, but, I did not enjoy the bad customer service. If you like pretty things, but, don't mind paying the high prices, this store can work for you. more

I am really not to fond of this store. Yes, it does offer some cute things like soaps, cards, ornaments etc. they do have cute and well thought out window displays for each holiday. But it is so overpriced. And even when they have sales or clearance, it is still too much. the owners are only friendly when they want to be. They are not consisitent, which I do not appreciate. And parking is hard to find on West POrtal. more

Any time I need a gift -- birthday, congratulations, baby, etc. -- I go to Plain Jane's and I always find something perfect. They have lots of selection (stationaries, soaps/lotions, etc., candles, plants, decorative items, etc.) and are very friendly. They also have cool cards, and at holidays have lots and lots of great items. more
