Pinky Nail Salon

I've been going to Pinky for manicures for years. It's as good or bad as every other cheap New York nail salon. However, today I had a very disturbing experience when I went for a bikini wax. They ""double dip"" in the wax - that is, they use one stick for the entire wax, dipping the used stick into the wax. This means my germs are in the pot of wax and so are everyone elses. In addition, I had a Brazilian wax and the woman didn't wear gloves. She was way too up close and personal, if you know what I mean, and the combination of the no gloves + the re-using of the sticks prompted me to get up and leave halfway through. It was repulsive. I completely agree with the other reviews. I can't understand why with three reviews giving the place a one star rating how the average equals 4.5 stars. Don't be fooled from the stars, this place it is exactly the opposite of a relaxing experience one is looking from a manicure / pedicure experience. They rush you and are extremely rude at the counter. more

This place actually BURNT my skin while waxing and instead of apologising the manager asked me not to ever go their salon again. The service was hurried and the staff clearly inexperienced. Since their service gave me 2 inch long scabs on both my eyelids, I complained to the manager and was horrified at the her insulting attitude. \r Don't waste your time or money, avoid this place!\r Cons: Bad service, rude staff more

I don't recommend Pinky. Find out prices before you get your services done. Otherwise, they will charge more than the listed rates. Make sure to keep your credit card receipts. I received my credit card statement and realized they charged more than I authorized. I got a massage for 10 minutes (they quoted $12.50), a fingernail polish change (quote $7.30), and a toenail polish change (quoted $12.50). The total charges should have been $32.30, but I was charged $63!! They are rude at the counter, too. Not only are the manicures and the service run of the mill, the place lacks all warmth. You are treated just like another body and even if you there week after week, they have no idea and don't seem to care if you are a regular customer. Also, make sure you know exactly how much something will cost BEFORE your service. The last time I was there the manicurist misquoted the price, and when I questioned it at pay time, they were horribly nasty and made me feel like I did something wrong. With so many nail salons in the neighborhood... go someplace else. more

consider the times square type bussle going on inside this salon and you'll understand why people rush into this salon. the manicurists are skilled and give you a fantastic manicure in no time that always last me more than a week, unlike the typical mani's that chip within the day. the women are warm, friendly and talkative unlike many other manicurist who stare off into oblivion while they cut your nails down to the cuticle... they do a great job and make you want to come back the best part of this particular location is the free 10 minute back massages they offer as your nails are drying. top that off with inexpensive prices and a typical 1 hour turnover for a mani/pedi dried and out the door and you've got my go-to salon for a quick polish job!
