I had a WONDERFUL experience! What a beautiful place! 11/24/2008

What a great experience I had at Pierce! Everyone was so wonderful to me and my family. My Grandmother passed away in 1997 and was buried in the Oak Vale garden section of the cemetery, I was much younger back then, but I vividly remember how helpful everyone was to my grandfather while he was making the arrangements. My parents loved the area so much they purchased plots only a week after seeing it for the first time. Unfortunately I have a few friends buried there also, but it is such a wonderful place to go and visit with them. The office staff is always available, as well as helpful. Go see the memorial day celebration if you are nearby, it is definitely a great community event! My wife and I had purchased a side by side spot in the Garden of Gethsemane. I really like how well the grounds of the cemetery are taken care of, everything is always so beautiful and looks very healthy. If you get a chance, take a look at the small gated area near the front which is the original cemetery from the late 1800's. Pierce Bros. comes highly recommended from me, I met Elaine, she is very caring like all the others I met. I didn't see what all of the other reviewers were saying at all. I really appreciate every ones compassion towards me and my family. Thank you very much you guys! Pros: Great community events, beautiful landscaping, knowledgeable and compassionate staff Cons: Could use a larger Chapel/Service area more

Wonderful Experience 11/4/2008

I have been a member of Ventura County and Los Angeles Community for my entire life, 32 years. I have seen this community grow; with its share of ups and downs. I have driven by Pierce Brothers many times in my life. Not until recently did I have to make my first stop there. I too had shopped around for prices for my late mother. Yes their prices were higher than many others but I didn?t get that warm greeting anywhere else like I did at Pierce Brothers. I am a strong believer in ?you get what you pay for?. And if I had to pay a little more for the outstanding, caring support ; that I got with family of Pierce Brothers than I look at it as money well spent. They offer more than any family own mortuary could ever offer in my opinion. For one their prices are locked in, If I move out of state than I can transfer to a sister location. Now please tell me? name one family owned mortuary / cemetery that can do that?! NONE! On a personal note when I walked into Rose Family in Simi and Griffin Funeral Home in Thousand Oaks, and a lot more in Camarillo and Los Angeles I felt I was treated and looked upon as just a DOLLAR. If you want your loved one to be treated with love and respect as well as the rest of your Family than I would say spend the extra dollars! Look for their DIGNITY Logo and you know your family will be in the best hands!!! Don?t settle for anything this is the hardest thing you will ever go through make it easy and go with a company / location who really CARES!!! Pros: Locked in Prices and Transfers (CARING STAFF) Cons: color of the office more

NICE REVIEW ERIN ! 7/18/2008

"alot of famous people are buried here" great sell point, why didn't you mention the fact costco, dakota's or for that matter taco bell are near by as well. hey you forgot to mention the OVERPRICED services you provide, that at other places would only cost 1/3 of Valley Oaks. Please folks look elsewhere, you will find that there are many more mortuary's doing much better services with a better prepared staff and with much more"DIGNITY" Pros: "LOTS OF FAMOUS PEOPLE ARE BURIED THERE" nice one erin Cons: OVERPRICED more

BAD REVIEWS ARE ONLY FROM FIRED EMPOYEES 7/3/2008

once again another ex employee of pierce brothers that was fired has to make negative reviews. oh and I am not Erin : ) pierce brother's is great Pros: Professional Cons: Absolutely NOTHING! more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! 5/7/2008

DO NOT USE THIS MORTUARY! They are overpriced, you have the right to use what ever mortuary you would like to handle your loved ones funeral arrangements and you can still be buried at Valley Oaks. Plus there's some kind of creature with unnaturally long arms and short legs roaming the grounds,no ones's sure what it is but its ugly and likes to be called Elaine. Pros: NONE Cons: RIP OFF more

The worst mortuary on Earth. 12/1/2007

This place is unbelievably awful! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. The management is the worst, this person named Elaine is worthless and unprofessional, not helpful in any way,I think they brought "it " in to scare the children who misbehave. The general manager Terence in my opinion is closely related to Frankenstein's monster, he/She/it has no emotions at all. you would think it was cardboard!. Stay away from this godforsaken place! Save your money and go somewhere else! Pros: near costco,so get a hot dog Cons: a monster and its sidekick running the place more

Elaine Munoz-Solis= UNPROFESSIONAL 9/17/2007

While assisting a family friend with the funeral for her father, we had the displeasure with meeting with this uncaring, unprepared, and unprofessional person. While waiting for Elaine for our scheduled meeting(which she was 10 minutes late for) we had a pleasant conversation with the young woman answer phones, when Elaine finally showed up,the first thing the she did was hand us her business card,it was embarassing to say the least. This woman was so unorganized, I knew we were in for trouble come the day of the service. Well it happened, nothing we had asked to be done for the funeral was handled. She of course was no where to be found, the staff we had did their best to make it work, I do thank them for the help, but we can't go back and fix it. To anyone who plans to use Pierce Brothers valley oaks, please avoid Elaine Munoz-Solis,this woman and I use the term lightly, needs to be terminated! Pros: Helpful Receptionist named Maria Cons: Lazy, unprofessional management more
