What an experience! I'm so used to conventional Chinese that when my friends suggested we go to the new ""hot"" Chinese spot for my birthday, to say that I was apprehensive is an understatement!!! I'm happy that we went, I was introduced to ""upscale, beijing chinese"" fare which was nothing I expected or was used to.
We were suggested by the server to share as their suggested way to serve is ""family style"". We took them up on their offer - we are glad that we did!
We were a party of four, my wife and I and another couple, we shared chicken satay skewers(crack on a stick!!), chicken lettuce cups/wraps - I love they way we were able to get animated and make the wraps ourselves at the table. And what's up with those ribs? OMG, surely not like my corner chinese place!
For main course, we told them that we wanted to taste many things, our server Rob, offered to give us half orders of the large main courses so that we can order four different items. We shared the green/spinach shrimp, filet mignon, beijing chicken and sliced bass.
One was better than the next! The Filet had this crust around the slices - not very common, but one of the best pieces of meat i've ever tasted! Fish was light and flavorful, beijing chicken sweet and moist and shrimp were awesome!!!!
They even read my friend's request through his open table reservation and brought over a sparkler with our dessert for my birthday.
Thank you Philippe for making my 40th so special!!!! I strongly recommend this place and can't wait to go back. I doubt I can wait for another birthday!!
