Pewaukee Vet did not care about my cat's pain only my money 5/14/2016

Pewaukee Veterinary Service Manager Aaron Schuett, son of Randy Schuett owner, treated us in an arrogant and condescending manner, showing lack of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect for our pet’s pain and our grief over his loss.\r The terrible experience of losing our loving cat was made even worse by Pewaukee Vet Service, they failed to meet an acceptable standard of care on any level. The lack of compassion shown to my cat's pain and my family is beyond comprehension, they should not have a license to deal with pets. In our experience, they are nice until you have a problem or don't agree with them and they don't care about your pet's pain only your money! \r \r I took my cat in because he vomited a bloody liquid. Dr. Ann-Margaret took x-rays and said it was acid in his stomach over constipation. She sold us new food and their constipation med. Pewaukee Veterinary Service Manager Aaron Schuett, son of Randy Schuett owner, treated us in an arrogant and condescending manner, showing lack of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect for our pet?s pain and our grief over his loss.\r The terrible experience of losing our loving cat was made even worse by Pewaukee Vet Service, they failed to meet any acceptable standard of care, they should not have a license to deal with pets. In our experience, they are nice until there's a problem, they don't care about your pet's pain only your money! \r \r I took my cat in because he vomited a blood. Dr. Ann-Margaret took x-rays and said it was acid in his stomach over constipation. She sold us new food and constipation med. \r Our cat seemed OK, until 2 days later we had to take him in with Dr. Flowers, he was in serious pain, disoriented and could barely stand up. She ran tests, an hour and a half passed and she said she needed new xrays. He was in pain I had to ask her to please give him a pain med as he was suffering. The xrays showed blood and a mass in the stomach. He was dying and had to be put to sleep.\r \r The whole procedure of putting him to sleep was done on the cold, hard floor of the exam room. We got on the floor, it was very difficult for my parents, they are 70yrs old. They wanted to be as close to him as possible so he knew we were there with him. No body showed any concern for this. \r \r Days later we called and spoke with Aaron Schuett as we could not understand how this had happened, we had been told it was constipation and 2 days later he's dying. Why was nothing abnormal seen on the x-rays by Dr. Ann-Margaret and then suddenly there is a mass in his stomach? Our cat was eating, drinking fine, using the litterbox daily, didn't seem in pain, had complete blood work done by Pewaukee Vet one month prior and was normal. Could his death have been prevented? Did constipation cause this or what? \r \r I was crying as I asked some of these questions...His attitude was cold, uncaring showing lack of compassion. He didn't explain anything, but said everything they did was correct! \r \r I said that to euthanize our cat on the floor lacked dignity for him and it was difficult for my parents to get on the floor. He interrupted to say ?you were all fine and comfortable on the floor? and that if we didn't ?like? the floor, we should've moved him ourselves. I said we didn't because we were in shock and afraid to cause him more pain. The vet was in charge and should have been more competent.\r \r The vet knew he was in a lot of pain, why didn't she offer a pain med? I had to ask 1.5 hours of seeing him in agonizing pain? The responsibility to not allow unnecessary suffering was for the vet's as they have experience on this and we rely on them for that. I told him I now know there is a grieving room for this and he said that it's by appointment only. \r \r He said we should be thankful that they ?graciously allowed? us to take up an exam room for hours while tests and the euthanasia procedure was done!...That exam rooms are made for only 2 people, NOT a ?whole family? That is ridiculous, we are only 3 people including my mother who arrived only at the end when we informed her, as it was clear he had to be put to sleep.\r We paid $250 for the first visit and didn't even get a hint of how grave our cat was, then $900 two days later to euthanize our cat on the cold floor and we're told we're taking up their exam room? Aaron should be ashamed of himself for saying that. \r \r We said we wanted to speak with the owner instead of him and he said NO. Aaron said we had wasted his time on the phone for 20 min. We needed at least an apology for the lack of dignity shown for our cat in his last moments. He said they did nothing that he had to apologize for so we didn't deserve one! more

HIGHLY recommend PVS. The staff and the doctors are awesome. Their level of knowledge and care are incredible. We found Dr. Jeff when we needed an orthopedic vet and have never looked back. They have seen us through many a crisis and have helped our beloved dogs reach the rainbow bridge with dignity and respect. I would not go anywhere else. more

We have been extremely pleased with the expertise and compassion of the doctors and veterinary staff at PVS. We highly recommend as best pet care in the area! Appointments are scheduled promptly and telephone messages are returned promptly - and directly from the doctors when there is a question/concern about a pet. We had a very sick dog one year ago that we feared we would have to let go and Dr Jeff has treated the pet after an immediate diagnosis including daily telephone calls from the doc to check on the pet's status and adjust medications for nearly a 4-month time frame. If he was not available Dr Nick handled the case equally as well and prompt - and was aware of all the details and history. The pets diabetes is stable as is the pets pancreatitis and other ailments including ear yeast issues and eye issues and various infections related to his diabetic condition. Drs Jeff and Nick also stabilized our cat's vomiting issue - who is now happy and friendly again! I transferred care of all 4 pets to PVS after using another clinic since1993. The primary reason is the thoroughness, expertise, access to care and compassion of Drs. Jeff and Nick Schuett. Our family would highly recommend PVS for diagnosis, care and treatment of your companion pet. We have also found that the Docs spend time educating about pets issues which is extremely helpful to understand how to then care for the pet. more

We've been using PVS for over 10 years and could not ask for any place better to care for our dog. Rudi enjoys his visits and so do we. They truly care about us and treat us like family. more

I am very happy with PVS. Katie K and Dr Jeff have made it very easy for us as we have a large anxious dog who does not like to travel in a car anywhere. They work with us to get him in and out and make it as stress free as possible. My dog is my ""baby"" and I trust them with him which is very important. They are kind, considerate and VERY good at what they do. Dr Jeff has been our family vet for many years and then when Katie K started working with us too, there is just not a better team out there! I would not consider taking him anywhere else and thank them dearly for all they have done for us!!! more

Great care for life. My dog has be under the care of the Doctors and staff of Pewaukee Veteinary Service since she was 5 weeks old. ""Fudge"" is now almost 16 and is great shape for a dog her age. We are enjoying the time we have with the eldest member or our family and want to thank Dr. Tom Hirth for taking such good care of her. more

Never go there! We got charged for services that we specifically said we did not want. Once we got home and realized this after looking more closely at the bill, my husband called to talk about it. The lady refused to take off the services we said we did not want. When my husband asked if they would rather lose our business over this the lady replied with ""yes."" He then requested that the vet call him that day to talk this over and the lady on the other end hung up on him! Worst customer service ever and we never received our money back! more

My dog and I love this clinic. In the 1/4/2012

My dog and I love this clinic. In the years I've gone there, I've had to wait for an available room a few times, but a clinic that is that busy must be doing something right to keep the clients coming! I feel like they have everything in one place- boarding (and she can get a haircut while there too!), dental cleanings, a holistic doctor, etc. It's worth the drive! Pros: null Cons: null more

Too busy, too greedy..however good care when finally seen. 5/26/2011

Pewaukee Veterinary Service is far too busy for our liking. We waited about 50 minutes PAST our scheduled appointment , and 55 after we had arrived, before our pet was seen. After 30 minutes in the waiting room, we were taken to an exam room and waited another twenty minutes. I had to let our puppy chew on a rubber key chain b/c he was getting so restless. When the vet tech finally came in all that was said was, "sorry we're a little backed up." The lobby was empty when we got there, and when we left there was one person at the desk and again the waiting room was empty, yet they were too busy to see us at the scheduled time or let us know if there were an emergency and there'd be a bit of time before we were seen. Other vets have given us the option to reschedule when that situation has arisen. Our time was of no concern. more

Love My Vet 3/24/2011

We have been using Pewaukee Veterinary Service for years and I have always found them to be very professional and caring. We have dogs and small animals. Our pet hamster had a stroke and they squeezed us in immediately. They were so patient and kind to my daughter who was very upset. Whenever I call with a problem, I always get a return phone call. They are wonderful and I trust them with all of our animals. more

Above quality care and staff 1/12/2011

I have been with this clinic for 10 years and thru 4 dogs. Referred there when the last vet couldn't figure out problem and PVS had the equipment. He had cancer, the vet transfused his own dogs blood to get our dog thru surgery. He bought us 3 months. The care and empathy was outstanding! Our second dog had problems after hours - called vet at home, monitored and advised him 1 hr later I was going to emerg clinic. 20 minutes and one xray later, my vet was standing with the staff to tell me they had to do surgery to save my dog's life and he was scrubbing in to help. Wow beyond what I would have expected! Their expertise, all staff are caring, is why I send all my friends and coworkers there. Beyond care anywhere else! would HIGHLY recommend their skills are way above the rest! more

I drive 30 Miles to take my dog there 1/11/2011

Brought my (then) 1 yr old border collie in because she was moving slowly, wasn't running, and was huffing a lot. After a workup including X-rays, it was determined she had a back issue. I got several options, including surgery, physical therapy, acupuncture, and medications. I was given benefits and drawbacks of each. I chose PT and acupuncture. It worked great. My dog is now five, with full mobility, and shows no signs of distress with her previous injury. more

Hands Down The Best! 1/11/2011

PVS is by far the best veterinary clinic in the area. As a loyal customer since the early 1980's, I would never think of going anywhere else. Dr. Jeff Schuett has been my K-9's primary physician and has provided nothing but stellar service over the years. Thanks to their thorough yearly checks, my current K-9's anaplasmosis was detected, treated and monitored. PVS' staff is friendly and well trained. Follow up communication after diagnosis has always been prompt and they even call to see how she's doing! Wish my own doctor did that! They keep abreast of the latest technology and offer services that are beyond compare. All said, PVS offers doctors that are leading the curve on the latest technology, employ more than competent staff and have really good treats... my dog wanted me to add that! more

Wonderful Staff-Great Hospital! 1/11/2011

New to this online review thing. We never do this but wanted to share our recent experience & how much we appreciate all PVS does for us and our pets over the years. We have alot of pets and all have been there one time or another to see the docs - if it isn't due to our lab eating our kids toys then our cat needs stitches. It's always something. The staff was wonderful when we called in a panic recently about our golden - got us in right away even though they had no appointments available. Ended up she needed surgery which they did the same day and their staff helped us every step of the way until she could go home. They even called to follow-up how she was doing & if we had any questions. She's fine now and no worse for wear (no more jumping off our deck for a while) - we have many friends we referred and now go to them. They really do care-great group of people. We'll be back for annual exams next month! more

Go ANYWHERE else but here! 1/5/2011

Had gotten quote to do dental work on our cat. Two days before, the appointment, they call and give us another quote 40% higher than a quote, already competative with other locations. Said "we are just trying to be honest". Really?!?!?! Honesty is giving a quote and then increasing it right before you come in!?!? NO - honesty is honoring the quote they provided.at the time of consult. After reading other reviews here and other locations, I am glad we are cancelling and going elsewhere. LOUSY way to run a business. Staff less than impressive. more
