We played with the Mini Schnauzers afterward and had a great time with them. Overall, really good job. This really helped me narrow down what we might want to buy in the near future\r more

Worst pet store I've been to in regards to their customer service and business practice. \r We purchased a yorkie puppy from Petland on Aug 17th. Before we bought the puppy, the store associates verbally told us that all puppies were insured and the only thing we would have to pay is the initial visit and half of getting her neutered. We followed all the instructions on getting her checked out the next day for warranty purposes. Within 6 days we were at the vet with our new puppy coughing and throwing up. We were unhappy with the vet's diagnosis but were restrained to them per the insurance. On Aug. 31st she was diagnosed with kennel cough. We have paid 100% of all medical bills and medicine until that visit. It came as a great shock when we found out that we would not be reimbursed for any visits but only for the medication, even though the sales associates bluntly told us the insurance would take care of everything. We dealt with East Orlando Animal Hospital even though we thought they were not the best choice for Leia our puppy. On Sept. 26th we had reached our tipping point and went to Winter Park Animal Hospital in which we take our other dog. They immediately took x-rays and put her on a more aggressive medicine plan. Within 3 days Leia had developed pneumonia and has been in the hospital for 2 days. We have incurred $2,259.70 in vet bills in the last month. That does not include the $1,800 we paid for the puppy and so called insurance. We bought a puppy under the pretense that it was healthy and covered under insurance, which it has been neither. We have battled with the insurance and have been denied any claims. Although we love our puppy, this has been the worst experience we have gone through and are severely disappointed in Petland and the provided insurance. We are hoping that this letter might make its way to someone that would be able to help us with this situation. I am not sure if there is any legal recourse we can take, but it is not out of the question as we have spent over $4,000 for a puppy. Petland should stand by the puppies they sell which is certainly not the case. As of this time we will not shop at Petland nor recommend it and go as far as encourage people to stay away due to the manipulative selling practices and lack of customer service in righting a situation that has gone so wrong.\r more

First, the place smells horrible !!!!! The puppies are stacked on top of each other, behind glass. Puppies that live in cages are almost impossible to house train !! My neighbor bouht 3 puppies from them at the same time. All of the puppies got sick and one of them died. The did not take care of the medical bills or replace the dead puppy, BECAUSE THEY were out of WARRENTY??? Also she was NEVER able to get the 2 survining dogs potty trained. Plese find a reputible home breeder or even better, adopt from your local shelter. more

Buyer Beware ***Sick Animals sold here*** 11/7/2010

We've purchased two rabbits at different times here and both came home seriously ill from the start. Do not buy animals here. Details: About two months ago we bought a rabbit here. Two day warranty unless you buy their vitamins (like vitamins will somehow make a difference within a couple of days), which extends the warranty to a week. Anyway, the poor thing was inert for the next 24 hours so I scheduled a vet appt for the following day. It had a form of pneumonia, parasites and about three other serious issues. Because my 11-year-old daughter was in love with it, we had the vet do everything they could, including hand feeding and constant care at the vet hospital. She died 2 days later after several hundred $ in treatments. The vet even called the store to warn them about the situation. Petland promised to replace for free. We went in again recently and my daughter fell in love with another rabbit, so we took them up on the free replacement. They had no recollection of the offer and took about 1/2 hour to decide to fulfill the obligation. Anyway, this one is also acting poorly and not eating so after two days I took him in to the vet and he has three different parasites and is very weak and underweight. We are hand feeding a special diet and giving multiple medicines multiple times daily. Some friends of ours have purchased guinea pigs and a puppy from here and all have been sick on purchase. Stay away. Do NOT buy animals here. more

The Humane Society should protest! 3/17/2010

I went to Petaldn to buy a puppy and was horrified to find how sick the puppies were. I bought a baby parakeet when I was there and it died within a week... I have had several parakeets throughout my life and none had died until they were over the age of 10. Do NOT buy here! The prices are ridiculous and the puppies are kept in tiny cages in their own feces. I purchased a puppy from Just Puppies instead and have been delighted with my purchase. Pros: WIDE selection of pets Cons: Poor health, poor hygiene, high prices more

Buyer Beware! 6/24/2008

I'm not sure where to begin on how terrible this place is. DO NOT buy a dog from here unless you want to pay the sticker price and an extra 400 plus dollars at the vet (it's only been 2 weeks, I'm sure that number will increase). They sell sick, underweight dogs that aren't even the pure breed they sell them at. We were sold and ""English Bulldog"" at the OUTRAGEOUS, yet ""discounted"" price of 2500 and HE ISN'T EVEN AN ENGLISH BULLDOG. They force you to go to their vet and say it is covered but once the appointment is over the only thing they pay for is the medication and you are stuck with a bill. Their vet lies for them and misdiagnoses your dog and says they are healthy but a real vet tells you that he ACTUALLY has a UTI, Coccidia, Whipworms and Kennel Cough, all of which infected our other 2 (we have huge bills with them too) because we were told he was in good health and could be around them. The staff is rude and when you tell them what is going on with him they say ""well that's what you get when you buy a dog"". Excuse me? I am supposed to assume a dog is going to be REALLY sick when I buy him? I think not. I love my puppy but now I have a HUGE issue on my hands that is going to continue for months with all three of my dogs. I can't even imagine what my final bill is going to look like between his purchase price and the vet bills for him and my other two. I'm going to have to get another job to keep up. This is ridiculous Pros: You are saving a poor sick animal from the claws of terrible people Cons: Supporting puppy mills, sick animals, rude staff more
