Terrible Groomer 6/8/2011

Our cat was abused at this groomer today. I rushed him to the vet after seeing his eye swollen, the pupil a slit, his toenails bloody, patches of fur absent from his neck. The vet said that our cat had been subjected to blunt trauma to his neck which damaged a vein that circled back to his eye, that patches of fur were missing from his neck, that his finger nails were bloody from careless cutting. I will never go to this groomer again. When I called them about our cat at 5pm today, their answering machine kept picking up and after leaving messages they didn't return my calls. Our vet is calling them in the morning and our vet is never referring them again. more

not great and not experienced dog handlers 12/18/2010

Pet affaire has not handled my pooch very well at all on several occasions. Why take your dog to a groomer when they miss every detail. My dogs ear was bleeding when I picked her up as well... I will never take her back there again. more

Not bad, not great either 12/7/2009

They seem to do a good job grooming my dog (a long-haired shepherd mix) but compared to where I used to go before I moved, Pet Affaire is nothing special. One time they trimmed parts of my dog's fur even though I had not requested nor expected it. The fur around his toes was cut so short that it was actually bald in some places. Plus, they charge about $20 more. I used to go to the Barking Lot in Tarzana and granted, the rent in Venice is probably higher, but it still seems like a lot to me. Also, my previous groomer requested paperwork regarding my dog's vaccinations which made me feel like they were really trying to protect the health of all the dogs, and this is something Pet Affaire doesn't do. I highly recommend the Barking Lot and would continue taking my dog there if it weren't so inconvenient for me now. Pros: Conveniently located Cons: Expensive more

Hurt my dog 9/30/2009

Instead of calling me, they tried to cover it up, which made matters worse. When I picked him up, I noticed that his eyes were drooping and he was panting. I rushed him to the animal hospital. Had they called and told me right away, I could have come earlier, and my dog would not have suffered so long. Cons: Bathed my dog in some shampoo that he was allergic to. more

Great Groomer 6/13/2009

I brought my dog to the Pet Affaire after many aggrevating and horrible grooming experiences in town. The very first time we were there, weI felt like we had known them for years. They were sweet to our dog and when through her excitment she had an accident in the shop up front, they said that is alright. I asked for something to clean it up and the owner said no I will do it, no problems. Pros: Best and Friendliest Groomers in Town more

AMAZING Cat groomers too! 2/12/2009

All of the reviews have been about dogs, figured I would add my review for you cat people looking for a GREAT place to get your baby groomed! Pros: Gentle and caring. They do a wonderful job and obviously love animals of all kinds! more

Hands Down 12/22/2008

When I read the last reviewer's negative comments I had to add my two cents. Pet Affair the friendliest, most professional grooming outfit in Los Angeles. My wife and I have tried a dozen places and all them sucked in their own way. The guys at Pet Affaire cut his hair perfect, groom him immaculately and best of all, my dog doesn't cry like a maniac like he does when we take him everywhere else. I'm not saying he likes it, but he certainly seems to like it way more than the other places. I highly recommend Pet Affaire and so does my dog. Oh and they're cheap as hell. Just $45 both a cut and groom. more

Don't Know Why So Many Positive Reviews...... 5/6/2008

I tried Pet Affaire based on a neighbor's recommendaton, and all the raving revews on this site. The staff seemed very friendly on the phone when I made my appt for my dogs bath/cut. I was quoted $65-70 for each dog. Seemed reasonable enough, although was used to paying $50 per dog over at Centinela Pets on Centnela Av. Unfortunately the groomer at CP left unexpectedly with no forwarding info and has yet to be replaced. After dropping them off the owner called me to tell me it will be $90 per dog based on the heavy matting and ""aggressive behavior"". I did tell them that my female is tempremental when I dropped them off, yes she has been muzzled before during groomiing, usually no big deal. But my male is super friendly, however they decided to go ahead and muzzle him anyway, although later confirmed by a member of the staff, that he wasn't acting aggressively. I never heard complaints from groomers/owners about my dogs being such a huge ordeal, behaviour, condition of coat etc. They told me they required 2-3 groomers per dog just to get the work done. I in the past have brought my dogs to groomers with heavy matting, dirty, stinky and have not ever been told that they required 2-3 groomers per dog. The most they expressed was that my female needed to be muzzled and they charged me $20 extra for the heavy matting. Pros: decent cut Cons: knicks, dogs upset, a lot of bitching about my dogs, paid too much! more

Best value in town 1/3/2008

This is a great place to take your dog. Great prices, great grooming. My King Charles Cavalier comes out shiny and spotless every time. The staff is extremely friendly and even my timid little dog thinks it is a painless experience! Pros: Great grooming, inexpensive, quick, easy scheduling more

Fantastic pet services 10/31/2007

I took our dog, who also was rescued from a shelter and had no previous grooming experience, to Pet Affaire to be groomed for the first time recently, and I could not have been more pleased with the results. After I made an appointment, I dropped her off at 8am and she was done before noon--completely washed, dried, brushed and trimmed. The people there were so friendly and efficient--grooming will now be a regular part of our dog's routine. Excellent job! Pros: Excellent grooming services; not at all pretentious more

A ""Spa Day"" for your pampered pet! You and your dog will leave feeling refreshed! 9/27/2006

Thank you!! Finally a great place to take my cocker spaniel to get her monthly ""spa"" treatments! We are greeted with friendly personal service EVERY time! The owners, Frank and Rodney have treated us with Red Carpet care for the past year we have been visiting them! Yes, they have a note card on us but there is no need since they take the time to get to know you and your dog. Pros: Location close to Venice, Marina del Rey, Westchester Cons: None. There is little inventory for pet supplies i.e. collars, etc. but hey, who cares if it keeps the cost of gromming down for me. more

As good as it gets...... 8/11/2006

Our pet... a shelter rescue... had no previous grooming experiences, pet affaire did an amazing job of suggesting a style and providing a wonderful experience including great treats afterwards and wonderful products (at great prices) for us to reward him with; our dog has never been happier and gets compliments on his looks wherever we go. Pros: Friendly and competent service, great value if you value your pet Cons: NONE! more

Everyone at Pet Affaire is very helpful. If you don't know exactly what you are looking to do for your dog's cut, they always pick a great look for you. The price is acceptable and the scheduling is easy most of the time. (Weekends can get a little busy). Most importantly, they treat your dog very well and are obviously professionals! I highly recommend this groomer. more
