I live in San Francisco, not far from Cafe Pescatore, so I thought I'd try it out for dinner. I ordered the ""crab"" ravioli expecting it to be Dungeness crab, the SF delicacy. Instead, the undercooked ravioli contained a strange catfood-like substance. I suspect it was fake crab or worse. Really not excusable at these prices or in the food mecca capitol that is SF. Also didn't love the tombo tuna - it had a vague metallic taste and was dry.
The service, while kindly enough, was not a fine dining experience. Our waiter was so busy trying to upsell us by going into a five minute speech about what he thought we should order that my girlfriend and I felt slightly exhausted and intruded upon.. I prefer a more subtle kind of service. Perhaps we simply got the tourist treatment.
