Excellent Fisherman's Wharf dining option 11/26/2007

I travel to San Francisco regularly and always try to include a stop to this place when I stay in the wharf area. It is a great alternative to the glut of ""tourist trap"" type restaurants in the area. The service is prompt and attentive. The atmosphere is light and casual. Although there are several tasty dishes on the menu, I highly recommend the Caesar salad and the sea bass. more

Uneven quality of food and service 10/22/2005

I live in San Francisco, not far from Cafe Pescatore, so I thought I'd try it out for dinner. I ordered the ""crab"" ravioli expecting it to be Dungeness crab, the SF delicacy. Instead, the undercooked ravioli contained a strange catfood-like substance. I suspect it was fake crab or worse. Really not excusable at these prices or in the food mecca capitol that is SF. Also didn't love the tombo tuna - it had a vague metallic taste and was dry. The service, while kindly enough, was not a fine dining experience. Our waiter was so busy trying to upsell us by going into a five minute speech about what he thought we should order that my girlfriend and I felt slightly exhausted and intruded upon.. I prefer a more subtle kind of service. Perhaps we simply got the tourist treatment. Pros: nice room Cons: seafood not local more

While visiting the waterfront in San Francisco we happened on Cafe Pescatore. Sitting outside on the sidewalk patio we enjoyed awesome, yet casual service. The staff was attentive and ready to answer all our questions. After a wonderful lunch of seafood and pasta we finished with cappuccion and a delicious tiramisu. A special treat on our visit to the ""City by the Bay"". more

Loved It! 3/13/2005

I stumbled on Cafe Pescatore while shopping at Cost Plus, what a find! My friends and I dined outside and sipped wine while munching on the best Calamari ever. We stayed for dinner and the staff was happy to oblige. The Cioppino was spicey and delicious. Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Food more

Many thanks to the great staff! 3/8/2005

I stopped in on a whim after shopping and was extremely pleased with my experience at Cafe Pescatore. I wasn't really sure what to order, but the general manager offered some great suggestions, and everything was delicious! The staff was prompt and helpful, and being able to eat outside was a definite plus. A great find for the locals, who I think tend to shy away from the Fisherman's Wharf area. I'll be back! Pros: friendly staff, great food, good value more

Very attractive and attentive staff! 3/7/2005

The food was great, but the service was awesome! I would go back just for the service. My favorite was the Ribeye steak, very flavorful and juicy. My date had a tuna special that was the perfect medium rare which it should be. Lots of places do not cook them properly. Definitely will return and bring friends! Pros: staff, food, desserts Cons: stronger drinks more

Disappointing crab chioppino on Feb. 24, 2005 2/25/2005

The shrimp were overcooked, the manila clams (the little ones) were overcooked as well and cold. The crab was not precracked. Yes, there were tools to do the job, but it was a hassle. The bread was burned; too bad, I would have loved to soak up the delicous broth. more

really just average! 7/20/2004

Ate here expecting better than average, considering the prices are a bit high and the decor is attractive and inviting. I had a tuna that was average over a bed of deep fried cappilini pasta. The red sauce was nice and I could appreciate the combination of textures in this dish but I'd really prefer boiled pasta. My friend had a chicken dish in a white wine sauce that perhaps had a bit too much wine or cheap white wine. The sauce tasty tangy and it disturbed the dish. Pros: fast seating, bar more
