I'm in Pullman visiting my family for the holidays. My younger brother's car wouldn't start and my grandfather and him had it towed to perfection tire for a diagnostic. T.J. (my brother and the registered owner of the car) left the car and keys there with the understanding that he would be called when they found out what was wrong. The owner told him it may take a while because he had other customers in front of him. A few days later T.J. called to check on the status and was told that all of the work had been completed and as soon as the over SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR bill was paid he could pick up his car! T.J. was never informed of what was wrong with the car, much less give permission for this work to be done and that was never his intention when dropping the car off. He is in between jobs and needed to know what was wrong with the car to decide what his options were i.e. sell the car, tow it to our home until he could get it fixed, or get it fixed if it was something minor like a fuse. That option was taken from my brother and when he confronted the owner he was told that he recieved permission from our grandfather, that NEVER happened. The owner went on to say that he had discussed the issues with the car ""at great length with your grandfather for twenty minutes, he gave me permission."" Our phone records show that the owner of perfection tire did in fact call my grandfather but the duration of the call lasted a little over TWO MINUTES! Long enough for perfection tire to tell my grandfather what had been wrong, the work had been accomplished, and t.j. could pick it up at any time. Imagine my grandfathers confusion when he was blamed for giving permission for work to be done on a car that isnt his! We were all blindsighted. My grandfather vehemently denied EVER giving permission, on the phone or other wise and when the owner of perfection tire realized that we wouldn't be bullied into admitting any wrong doing he kicked everyone off the property and refused to release my brothers car. THIS IS EXTORTION and I fully inted to persue this as far as the law allows me.
