some people just dont get it ,this place is becaming the country club of THE people of the upper east side.the food is great from the pasta,to the branzino,to the amezing tartars of tuna or salmon.this is not the avarage italian eatery,this place is my favorite place in NYC.I dine out every single night, i promise you if you go there you'll love it too. the food the service and the decor is picture perfect,even when the al fresco dining is closed.if you can not get in on the w.end non get mad and give bad reviews,try w.days and enjoy.sooner or later you'll became a VIP .its more fun on the other side. the service was fantastic, they were very accomodating and educated.the food this time was ok to good,i had better food here before.the restaurant is a little noicy at time and can get very busy.i had the pasta with lobster was a little blend but my date had the veal chop spec and was good. i love this place the ambiance and the people are great.will most definitely return Pros: nice staff Cons: none more

Last night i went to PER LEI with a group of friends,the place is very trandy, most of the times that means the food is a best ok."in most of the places".Let me tell you i was wrong,i had a risotto with white truffle tha was unbelievable,the gentleman that looked like the owner rushed to the table to offer us ,pepper and olive oil than very gently walked away after he asked us if all was ok.Every body at this place is very accomodating,some friends came to visit us for a drink and the all staff worked very hard to give us a bigger table as quick as possible.Waitresses,patrons every body is good looking a must go place even only for a drink and people watching.We had the best time and we will GO BACK alot. Two weeks ago i had dinner at this cute restaurant on 71 street,the place was packed with Good looking people even the staff was good looking.But even better the food was exxxxcellent,the place belongs in SOUTH BEACH MIAMI.The decor is very chic with very attractive paintings on the wall,every body was so friendly and made me feel at home from the very fist step in to the door.i will go back as much as i can ,it is my favorite place in manhattan."every body should visit this little jewel of the upper east side. Our evening presented the perfect example of management saving the day... he really made our experience top the charts and was very welcoming. The music selection rocked, and the atmosphere felt fun and really helped get the weekend started. Food was great, and cappuccinos rocked! I had gnocchi in some kind of cream sauce, my friend had the tuna rigatoni (or some tuna rigatoni-sh pasta) and they were fantastic. Will be back again! I had eaten there with friends during the summer and enjoyed it. We were seated on time and service was good. A female friend and I went this weekend and although the restaurant was empty they refused to seat her until we were both there, although they seated a man waiting for a date. The couple got a table for four while we were squeezed into a tiny table that was pushed against three other tiny tables that were all filled with pairs of women. Although the entree specials cost 50% more than any item on the menu, the waitress never mentioned this (we ordered 2 of the specials). Pros: Interesting menu with okay food Cons: Overpriced specials, tables pushed too close together and very small, won't seat females at table until whole party is there even if restaurant is empty but do seat men more

Well, I took a beatiful young lady out on a second date to this restaurants..though i truly enjoyed her company, i was extremely upset with our dinner..Actually, the appetizer was very good, but thats about it..It took me 20 minutes to get a drink at the bar..while i was waiting for her to arrive. I told the wait staff i would wait as long as need be to sit out front..but they insisted we sit on the side of the building..When they sat us, the waiter never came over till we asked him to..actually my date asked him too. the bottle of wine took 30 minutes and we had to ask them to put it on ice..the waiter didn't even know what was in the specials..even the bread stunk. My entree was wrong..if it wasn't for a great conversation, the night would have been a total disaster..this is the first time i wrote a review..i just felt compelled to complain, something i rarely do!!! more

Went to dinner with my two girlfriends, and oredered a bottle of wine two salads and a salmon tartar. The bread comes toasted w/ a roasted pepper/sundried tomato in olive oil dip which is very tasty and a true tickle to your taste buds. The salads were unpretentious and tasty, greens and the other ingredients tossed in light dressings very appropriate for summer. This we followed with desserts; the ubiquitous tiramisu, the italian cassata which was fluffy and very light, departing airy taste of real chill whipCream and candied fruit and pistachios in a smooth amaro chocolate sauce, and of course the mille foglie w/ sliced strawberries - a true culinary achievement of taste and presentation! Nobody tried to serve our check until we asked for it, and that is a BIG plus in NY, we truly enjoyed our time and wine, and the pretty italian waitresses and trendy hostess and patrons :). You can dress up, or go casual in this UES hip new restaurant! Pros: beautiful decor, great people watching more

I stumbled upon Per Lei last night and had an unbelievable experience. My friends and I did not have a reservation, but were graciously given a spot at the bar while we waited. We were seated within 15 minutes at a fabulous table where the doors opened up and made us feel like we were sitting outside. Great music and a good vibe make you feel as if you are at a party, but not in a way that is too loud or crazy. The crowd is very fun and hip, unlike some other restaurants in the area! The food was terrific and the service very attentitve. For a new restaurant, Per Lei really does things well. I can't wait to go back - especially on a warm night! This place was so uncomfortably crowded. The space is small, and they packed lots of big tables inside. Had reservations, but still waited almost an hour to get seated. No waiters in sight, very slow and chaotic services. Got our drinks wrong, and you had to ask for things 2-3 times. Food arrived almost 45 mins after we sat down. It's very tasty, but I can get same quality at other Italian restaurants in this hood. Maybe when the buzz calms down, they'll get their acts together. Go for the food, not the service.
