Pelican Restaurant

While I used to think Pelican had some of the best eggs benedict ever, I went there this weekend and was extremely dissapointed! I had a the standard eggs benedict with a side of potatoes. The coffee was extremely hot and bitter, the poached egg was way too raw and sat on the burnt english muffin with a big splash of water from the poaching that made the muffin soggy. My husband found a big hair in his potatoes and mine still had eyes on some of them, they hadn't even been properly cleaned before cooking. The hollandaise sauce itself was extremely bland. The whole meal was horrible, especially for something costing over $20 for breakfast. The chefs in the back looked dirty and unkept, and one chef's apron was completely smeared with grease and dirt. Eggs benedict is one of the breakfasts I may choose to eat every day for the rest of my life. Ok, so I would alternate between that and country fried steak. This place has some of the top eggs benedicts in the county. They also have a eggs benedict special every day. While the place is tiny and seating is at a premium, service is good and prices are low. Definitely check this lovely breakfast place out for some well-prepared and unique breakfast options. more
