DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES HERE!! 9/20/2011

Stay away from this ""business"". I experienced the worst service AND attitude from who I'm assuming isn't the ""gruff owner"" I've read about here. I was yelled at for questioning the quality of a repair. Had my shoes tossed at me and told to ""try to find someone else to do it"". After only asking if they could re-address the repair. I asked politely and in was not agitated by the lack of quality. This place needs to close. There's no room for this lack of customer service out there. more

Good Service 4/7/2011

I took 2 pairs of shoes in, and only one of the 2 were said to be worthy of repair. The ones that were repaired had new soles installed and the work was done quickly. They didn't feel the same after the repair but they look great. more

Waste of time and money 3/16/2011

I took my favourite pair of Harley Davidson boots in for new soles. I was appalled at the price tag of $80 to repair but went ahead as I love my boots.\r After pick up - the first time it rained one of them leaked! One two successive visits all that has been done is tacks added that just fall out after one wear. It looks to me like the sole wasn't sewn on correctly. I just can't be bothered to go back again so my partner bought me a new pair! What a waste of time and money! more

Bad shoe repair store- very unprofessional 11/7/2007

I left a pair of my favorite black boots that I bought in London to be reheeled. Not only were they not ready within the week they said they would be, but they acted rude to me. When he could not find my boots, I checked the floor and found only one side laying on the floor. Good gracious! Was I scared that they lost my other side! Seriously! How does one do business with bad attitude like this! That store is at a good location and there is obviously a high opportunity cost for not selling the store. That is what the owners should do. Pros: Location Cons: Stupid operators more

DO NOT GO HERE - Will Break Your Shoes and Try to Cover It Up! 6/6/2007

I took a pair of dressy Gucci heels to have the rubber tip replaced as it had worn through, and I also asked if he could clean the cloth straps. I came back to pick them up, they were not ready, returned a second time, still not ready. No apologies or explanation. They were picked up the 3rd time, the straps were not clean (he claimed his ""cleaning materials"" didn't work on my straps) but I was still charged a cleaning fee. Then, a couple weeks later, I put on my shoes for the first time and the heel FALLS OFF. I did not trip or stumble, I was sitting down, and when I stood up the heel was not attached. Upon closer inspection, you could see on the damaged heel where the top of the sole had been pulled back and screws had been crookedly inserted and then resealed with cheap glue. There is a lump on the damaged shoe sole that does not exist on the other, where a pad was inserted to try to conceal the screws. There were even some damage done by the screws externally as well. He had obviously broken my heal while trying to secure the rubbert tip, and then attemted to poorly conceal it (which explains why it was not ready on two occasions) to aviod paying me damages for a $400 pair of shoes, and then forced me to pay not only for this ""service"" but also the cleaning ""service"" when my shoes were not even cleaned! His service charges were also twice as high as other stores I have used, but I assumed (wrongly) this would ensure quality work, and I wanted the best for my nicest shoes. Consequently, he ruined a pair of irreplaceable shoes, tried to cover it up, and will not accept blame. He was also extremely rude to me on the occasions I went in there. Do not by any means take any shoes to this store that you hope to get back undamaged. more

Give your soles a lift 3/16/2007

I've used Peabody consistently for years. They do great work and turn it around quickly. If you need new taps on your heels, toe or half-sole replacement, or a general clean-up - your shoes will last many years with their help. Pros: Shoes look great & wear well Cons: Parking in Hillsboro village can be tough more

Not a good experience 12/26/2005

Many of my male friends and family members have used Peabody Shoe Repair to have shoes resoled and had a positive experience. However, I brought in a simple repair on a pair of women's pumps, which the man working broke even worse. I was not upset about what happened to the shoe but about the manner in which i was treated. I find the customer service horrible and the man working incredibly rude. more
