Best Salon in Columbia 6/6/2010

As a grad student money is tight - so having such a great place to get my hair done that doesn't cost me a fortune is wonderful. The students take their time to listen to what I want but will also make suggestions that I may not always think about. They are students so sometimes it takes a little longer so plan a little extra time - I take school work to get in a little study time;) To summarize: great atmosphere, great stylists (both the students and their instructors), great prices, great place! Pros: Great prices, fantastic results Cons: Not always the fastest more

the WORST salon in Columbia 5/8/2010

There are so many things wrong with this place that I'm not even sure where to start. It's one of those teaching schools so you can't expect perfection; however, ths is beyond terrible. All the people performing your services are students, and there is always an instructor present (in theory at least). I went in on Thusday, May 6, 2010 and whoever the instructor was that day was a rude bitch (sorry, there is no other way to describe her). So, whoever the owner is of this salon - I hope you read this so you can do something about her. Pros: NONE Cons: terrible customer service more

LOVE IT!!!!!!! 1/31/2010

Paul Mitchell The School is ranked #3 in the country for cosmetology schools. They teach students everything from how to run the business to the amazing color/cutting system. As for the previous review about how awful it was... here are a few things you should know. That paper you signed before you got your cut was a WAIVER, if you had read it maybe you would have understood. Second, the lady that came over was not your stylists BOSS it is her "Learning Leader" or teacher, they are the licensed cosmetologist that supervise the floor which enables the school to let the students give the services. I have been there time after time after time, they give scalp massages at the shampoo bowl, the students are professional, and eager to learn from their mistakes. At Paul Mitchell, they will never let you leave if you tell them you are not satisfied because the student messed up. The licensed teacher will usually step in and fix it if you express your disatisfaction. The students love to know when they do something wrong, because understand that these students can give services better than many many cosmetologists that have been working 20 years. Unlike many schools, they get to work on a clinic floor just like it is a salon, so they get to experience all of the "uh o's" and "i'm sorries" then so that less of them happen by the time they step into a high end salon. Maybe if you had an open mind and heart in there, you would have realized the opportunity you had to impact the students learning experience... because they could have fixed your hair, and they probably would have hooked you up with a free pedi/mani or shampoo set or something because you didn't get exactly what you asked for... they are big on that there. Anytime I have ever been they have always treated me like a queen and I was always so excited to go and never left unsatisfied... Pros: Cheap but High End Service!!!! Cons: Its a school... so you should realize that before go! more

caution 1/11/2010

AWFUL!!! I would give it 0 stars if I could! I had very long hair (almost to my waist) that I decided to cut and donate to Lock for Love. The lady told me that it had to be at least 8 inches so I said ok - next thing you know, she haphazardly cut off over 12 inches. Ok, fine - whatever, I committed to cutting it so I got over that. Then, I told her I wanted layers - well, she definitely did not know what she was doing and when she said she was finished, I looked in the mirror - lo and behold, one side of my hair was at least 3 inches longer than the other. She failed to notice this so she went to get her boss to help fix the mistake. Well, her boss came over with a razor and just started hacking away at my hair. I was at a loss for words so I just paid and left. Over the next week, I got numerous comments about my hir and how it just didn't look right. Oh, great - I ended up going to another salon to get it fixed. I guess you get what you pay for - I, for one, will NEVER go back to this place. I suggest that you don't either! Pros: cheap Cons: you get a awful haircut for cheap more
