Zabb Kitchen was almost completely empty on a warm Friday night in the East Village...now I know why.
The place is charming, the staff is very friendly, but the food...well they should FIRE the chef. I had the chicken salad that did not taste like chicken (fried, heavy, spice covering all the flavor), and the house specialty mango chicken...huge (30 pieces of chicken?), and completely drowning in a Ketchup-like sauce...I felt bad for the food, seriously. The sauce was covering everything--there was maybe 1/2 liter of it. I love mangos usually, but not in Ketchup, thank you.
As a result I did not eat anything but the bland, plain rice that comes with the food. I left starving!
To top it all, the AC was very noisy, and the 2 other occupied tables were having a shouting contest.
Te--rri--ble.
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Terrible, terrible food, fried and covered in sauce
