Best

We were in the Lloyd district on business and stopped by this place on a whim. It was incredible, I had the BUTTERNUT SQUASH-GORGONZOLA RAVIOLI and I can honestly say it is the b...

Worst

It's nice and the food is good, but charging for bread?? How hard up are they to make a buck? This just seems wrong.

""Step AWAY from the CHAIN RESTAURANT!""... and eat at Pastini's!! 8/21/2006

Pastini's is my favorite restaurant in the Lloyd district............This is where to go when you want fabulous Italian cooking and a comfortable casual atmosphere. The recipies are delicious... many great dishes to choose from. I absolutely LOVE the bread... it's just perfect. If it's not lunch time (or maybe if it is!!), don't forget a glass of Chianti. If you care about price then you have nothing to worry about here. Well done Pastini's! Pros: recipies, choices, atmoshpere Cons: there's only one, and it's 17 miles from my house. more

overall dissapointment 8/21/2006

I went in to Pastini with my two daughters the other night and came out feeling very dissapointed with both the service, and the food. None of our pastas were cooked correctly and the sauces were bland. The service was not up to parr either; my waitress seemed a bit edgy. I had been into the 23rd location of Pastini two other times, and both those times were just O.K. Nothing to rave about. more

Good, cheap Italian 7/9/2006

I've been going to Pastini's since it opened and it has been one of my favorites since. I think any comparison of Pastini's to Olive Garden is completely off base. Pastini's doesn't overwhelm you with sauce, and feels much more like a home cooked meal. I agree that the bread is not so great, so I think it's good that they don't serve a whole basket of it. I'd rather pay less for my meal than have that thrown in. Pros: taste, value, selection Cons: bread is tough more

Pastini=Olive Garden 4/25/2006

Although the service was very friendly and the restaurant was clean, it just reminded me too much of the Olive Garden. The servings were adequate at best and the food was good, but nothing about the standard Italian food that could served from Sandy to Canby. A good deal for the price and the take out service is great when your tired and hungry. Pros: Quick take out, Comfort food Cons: Nothing new, Terrible bread more

A ""must try"" in NE Portland 4/23/2006

I've been here several times, the food is always wonderful, they have all of the normal Italian dishes, and some other interesting combinations as well. It is a good family place, with the noise, you do not have to worry about kids talking to loud. It could be good for groups if you call ahead. Downside, it is usually crowded, but do you really want to go to a restaurant that is always empty?Parking is not very good. Pros: Excelent food, Good prices, Friendly staff Cons: Crowded, Parking, Loud more

Excellent! 4/14/2006

I'm very glad I found this place! The food is delicious and flavorful, the staff is friendly and open, the atmosphere is very intimate, and for what you get, the price is the best aspect of this place. It's a GREAT place for a first date, whether you are a teenager or a business executive. 10.5 out of 10! Pros: Cheap, Great Food, Lovely Atmosphere Cons: Poor Parking, Crowed Waiting Area, Usually Packed more

Nine raviolis for nine dollars... i'm serious 3/5/2006

Well i've been here before and ordered salads everytime. I decided to try their ravoli and when i got it there was a small amount in the middle of a large bowl. I counted nine raviolis and the a small pool of sauce. I never send things back but this was ridiculous a child wouldn't even get full off of this portion. I was honest and told the waiter this was ridiculous and she told me they weighed out all of their dishes but they give you mostly sauce.. So you pay nine dollars for nine raviolis. I was very disappointed and would reccomend ordering a pasta with an oil based light sauce like my friend did if you want to get a reasonable portion size. Pros: Good food Cons: you get small portion, doesnt come withsalad more

Great food, great price 2/14/2006

Two of us shared the artichoke-garlic bruschetta and a small Caesar salad, then each ordered an entree plus one cocktail each for the amazing price of $40, including tip. Pretty amazing considering the deliciousness of food & drinks, generous portions (we each took some of our entree home), and pleasant service. We sat by the window where it's more casual, but we could have requested a more private booth. The spaghetti carbonara had lots of thick, smoky bacon; my fettucine alfredo was very creamy. Pros: delicious & filling, great price, generous cocktails more

best chicken fettuccini alfredo I've ever had 11/5/2005

I've never had a bad meal there! I've gone with a party of six and every person loved their meal! It's a bit crowded but the food is worth it, and the service is awsome too! I would suggest it to anyone...great for a fun date dinner too. Pros: good food, priced well Cons: parking, crowded more

Good Italian ""Working Man"" Food 7/4/2005

After the mixed reviews I was happy to find the pasta very good, very Italian and very hot. It is very much like a Southern Italian trattoria, no frills, just good quality, pretty speedy service and nice energy. I'll go there again. Pros: Great pasta, good wine selections, attentive service Cons: Hot on a hot night, a little noisy more

Try the almond biscotti ice cream sandwich 2/12/2005

Give the dessert a whirl, the almond biscotti ice cream sandwich with carmel was wonderful. For dinner I had the baked ziti, which is a favorite outside of the restaurant, but it was average in the restaurant. The service was average, it is really hard to find parking, so bring an umbrella. A pretty good plate for the money, I reccomend. Pros: near shopping, inexpensive Cons: horrible parking, crowded more

Where's the bread? 5/10/2004

Don't expect to get giant restaurant-sized portions here or get more than one small triangle of bread with your meal. And by meal, I mean just the pasta you ordered. Salad is extra, bread is extra, extra parmesan is extra! The spaghetti w/meatballs came al dente and topped with an explosion of fresh garlicky basil marinara sauce and two meltingly tender meatballs. The spaghetti carbonara could've used a little salt, but the bacon was crisp and the peas were bright green. The service was friendly and attentive. If you'll pay extra for rice at a Chinese place, then you should be fine shelling out the extra $1.50 for the bread you should've got for free. But it left me with a niggling feeling that I was being cheated somehow. Still, I'll probably go back because the actual pasta was decent and it is close to our house. Pros: excellent pasta, friendly service Cons: , pay extra for bread more

PLENTY of food...great value 3/22/2004

I've been going to Pastini for over two years and there is definitely NO change in the size of their portions. In fact, I can't think of another restaurant where you get so much good food for so little. Don't believe those who tell you there isn't great value here! Pros: great value, great atmosphere more

Great Food - small portions 2/11/2004

Although we like this restaurant and travel from the southwest suburbs to get there, we probably won't return. The menu is good as is the service, its great with kids and the quality of the food is very high. But the portions continue to shrink to the point where it is no longer a great value. Pros: great with kids, good qaulity food, good service Cons: , small portions more

More pasta, less lire! 8/4/2003

Pastini must be the best value in Portland! We have eaten here several times now and just love the wonderful pastas and reasonable wine list. The food is first-rate with ample portions and fresh, high-quality ingredients. The restaurant is small but stylish and is always packed so it may be a bit noisy with all the energy. We now take all our out-of-town guests there! Pros: great value, fun atmosphere, friendly staff Cons: crowded more

McPasta 8/1/2003

This place conjures up bad dining flashes of Macaroni Grill. Selection? My three favorites - Carbonnara, Gnochi, and Lasagna - all absent from the menu. The Cannelloni stuffed with shrimp was weak. The interior was very Z Gallery like, and you had to ask for olive oil and vinegar. Opt for the McChicken with Marinara sauce or something real such as Cafe Mingo, Alessandros or Three Doors Down, but pass on this in-between venue. Cons: most of it more

Not as bad as some reviewers say! 7/11/2003

This restaurant is not at all like those chain italian restaurants eluded to in other reviews. The menu is inventive, which is what I like, not filled with the same ol' red and white sauce choices. The antipasto platter was huge and filled with tasty treats. Our entrees were both very good, again large portions (we both had leftovers to take home) and the prices can not be beat! Pros: creative menu, inexpensive, large portions Cons: tables close together more

Some Reviewers need a CLUE! 2/18/2003

Pastini is a great restaurant! It is a place to get wonderful food fast, good service, and even better value. For those of you who think that it is noisy and crowed need to realize this is not a sit down all evening restaurant and shoot the breeze. We are talking prompt and delicious! I love dining there and will continue! Pros: Great food, Nice and fast service, Great VALUE! Cons: Really none more

very dissapointing 2/16/2003

Hardly worth the wait. The antipasto was good but it does'nt take much to put pre-sliced meats and cheeses together. The pastas were almost unedible mine was way to salty I couldn't tell you what the flavor was supposed to be all I could taste is salt. On the other hand my wife's pasta had no flavor at all. Personelly I think she got the better deal. The service was avarege. Wine was good . Of course they were out of tiramisu. Agree with one of the previous rewier the place is way too croweded. more

customer 2/14/2003

the food was great but the service by the yooung man answering the phone was exceptioonal! He was courteous and helpful although I was being difficult. I want everyone to know how great the service is. Pros: inexpensive, available parking, supurb service more
