Worst

My dog was in bad shape when I arrived. He'd had some kind of allergic reaction and was all swollen. It turns out later that they didn't dilute the chemicals properly.

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/12/2013

This place is abysmal. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I can't reiterate that enough. I took my precious pooch here in May. They told me I could pick him up by 1pm. I came back at 1pm and they treated me as if I was a criminal there to steal all of the animals, and like they had never heard of my dog's name. They told me to come back after 4pm. I came back and when they brought him out, he was parched. He had not been let out the entire day 7:30am - 4:00pm or given water. He was absolutely traumatized. He is the happiest boy in the world and is always wagging his tail and his tail was stuck between his legs. Upon returning home, he curled up in a ball in the corner of the house and started licking several spots on his skin. As it turns out, he had ""hot spots"" and had been burned by the razor as a result of being cut too short and probably new briskly for a small maltepoo. I took him the vet where he was given steroid creme, antibiotics and anti-allergy medication as well as an e-collar which he had to wear for the next 5 days. I wasn't going to post anything because so many people think so highly of this place and I thought maybe it was a one off experience until one of my friends just had a similar experience with her westies. This place is a disgrace, I don't understand how they have gotten away with this abuse and inproper level of care for so many years. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. more

Worst service ever. The dog was traumatized, his stomach was cut in three places. They did exactly what I asked them not to do and his cut is terrible more

Chemical Burns 3/14/2011

I came to get my dog and found him swollen and having trouble breathing. The vet said he would have died had i waited a hour longer. They got rude and very defensive when i came back trying to find out what they used on him. more

Horrible Service 1/19/2011

Absolutely the worst service I've ever experienced. I don't quite understand the purpose of making an appointment if your dog is just going to sit in a kennel all day, regardless if you called 2 weeks in advance or a few hours in advance and regardless if you bring them in for a 7:30am appointment or a noon appointment, either way they're going to be finished around 6pm. The owner (Karen) may be there every day, but her lack or ability to provide quality customer service is a joke! I started taking my dog there about 2 years ago, and the service was always hit or miss. I was charged the full bath and cut on one occasion even though they didn't cut my dog's hair because ""she didn't cooperate"". When asked why I was being charged the full amount I was told (by Karen) ""oh well we were able to get some pieces"". On a separate occasion I took my dog in for a 7:30am appointment, I received a voicemail over 4hrs later telling me that their water heater broke and that I needed to come pick my dog up. When I walked in the place literally felt like a sauna, a great enviroment for animals to be in. As to why the water temp wasn't noticed the second they came in that morning is beyond me. But it confirms the fact that they don't start grooming the animals to well after their appointment times. I asked if I would be receiving a discount for the inconvenience and was told (by Karen) that it was something they couldn't control so no. If you ask me maybe the owner being present isn't a good thing, I'm not quite sure what good even comes from her being there! My advice, for the money you spend you're better off taking your animal to a real pet salon where they cater your needs and provided quality service, which you most definitely will not find here. more

Wonderful with our babies! 9/11/2010

We are extremely particular about who grooms our dogs and relied heavily on references. Each time we would ask random individuals either at the park or on the street who groomed their dog / dogs, more often than not they referred us to Karen at Park Cities Pet Salon. The very first time we took our girls to Karen, we were sold! Great with our girls and very accommodating with most requests. Prices are comparable to other salons and our girls come out looking perfect each time. more

HORRIBLE - abrupt complete change, rude, yuk 3/17/2009

Wow. What a fast downhill slide - Olympic downhill speed. THIS IS A 10 22 2011 REVISION/ UPDATE to my favorable 2009 review! My almost 12 year old Standard Poodle had been groomed at this shop almost all of her life. But over the last couple of years there was a complete evaporation of care, courtesy, concern for the pet, quality, and just all standards. Last straw was last Christmas when, in the midst of my last minute prep for family arrivals, the shop owner called to request ""moving: my pooch's appointment to a day later than scheduled - because the shop was so busy and short-handed. (I'd scheduled this appointment a month in advance, with the special request that my dog be first in, first out, by 1 p.m., due to her age and difficulty tolerating an over 8 hour day with no water and being denied any potty breaks - this ""policy"" hadn't previously been the practive here...I had been going 'round and 'round w owner about this.) In the spirit of trying to help, I agreed to ""being moved."" So ""of course"" rather than 1pm the next day, I got a call after 5 the next day telling me that she was ready - and that she had been ready for a very long time, but that they had been ""too busy to call me."" AND when I showed up around 5:45 to pick her up (being left in ""suspense"" & ""on call"" all day as to when she'd be ready, I had to get to a stopping place on my holiday guest prep projects in order to pick up the pooch), rather than any thanks for basically allowing everyone else's priorities to be placed above mine & above my pet's basic needs, rather than any apology for my poor dog once again being tortured for a cruelly long day, rather than any apology for not bothering to call me when my dog was ready, I received a smart-alecky SCOLDING from the ""owner's helper guy"" for not getting there sooner after he called me. (PCPS's & his schedules are much more important than mine? He's too busy to call me, but I'm supposed to warp speed over at his command?) You gotta be kidding me. Even before above ""last straw"" scenario, after repeated requests, these folks absolutely refused to do a ""sanitary trim"" - EVER. My dog repeatedly and increasingly was delivered to me with grooming wounds (again, no discount & not much of an apology, other than to more or less blame it on the dog.... and she's about as sweet and cooperative a canine client as a dog groomer could ever hope for... (OR delivered to me with the report that she'd had an :""accident"" - like she's at fault... I mean, what a surprise, left caged up for over 8 hours w no breaks...). I am by nature a very loyal client - I HATE change, and especially hate taking my sweet dog to unfamiliar folks. HOWEVER, thank goodness I finally woke up andrealized it couldn't really get much worse! SO DISGUSTED. So I ventured out and found ** POOCH PATIO ** - which, thank heavens, is a night-and-day difference and much better than PCPS was even before it ""went bad."" Not as close to my house, but in all other respects head and shoulders above PCPS. All of the above - IMHO - FYI !!! I wish great success to each and all in finding the perfect choice for YOUR sweet doggie! Pros: Warm & caring owner, great TLC & grooming Cons: What are the drawbacks? more
