I went to Dr. Ruof for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable going to the dentist actually was. Instead of feeling like I was going to an irritating doctor's appointment, she instantly made me feel at home and answered all of my questions with sincere kindness. Besides her patience, friendliness, and gentleness as a dentist, her depth of knowledge and understanding in her field is astounding. She took the time to explain several questions and concerns I had using pictures, models, and a mirror. I was really impressed with how easily she was able to break down complicated information in a way that was digestible for someone who is not in her field to understand. As part of my first visit, I had a number of x-rays done. I explained that I had two teeth that were more sensitive than normal and once the x-rays were done, she enlarged those teeth on a computer screen for me to see. She carefully examined the sensitive teeth and described exactly what was causing the sensitivity. To this day, I think about her explanation and try my best to follow her advice with careful soft brushing. I would strongly recommend Dr. Ruof to anyone in need of a kind, intelligent, and extremely thorough dentist. I know I will continue seeing her for years to come! more

I strongly recommend Park 56 Dental Group because they have an incredible staff team that is extremely talented who care about their patients, and go above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. Maritza Lopez, my hygienist, is a wonderful representation of this. She has always been so kind and her genuine interest in me as a patient has always made me feel at ease, and even excited, to go to the dentist. You read that right, I LOVE my dentist! Like everyone I had bad dental experiences as a child. No one likes to feel that loss of control, and I thought I would never ever get over it. \r \r I avoided going to the dentist for many years because of these bad experiences, but thank God I found Dr. Laura Ruof through a co-worker. \r \r To start, the office doesn't have that regular dentist office smell. You feel like you are walking into an upscale spa, with candles burning and calm friendly people. Seriously, every single person who works in that office is genuinely sweet and considerate. Everyone smiles, everyone helps, everyone cares. \r \r Especially Dr. Ruof. She is fun and so smart, but more than that she is KIND. She genuinely cares about YOU, about your dental health of course, but also about your general health, your family, your life. \r \r I really love how there's no cheesy dental office music! You can listen to her personal music selections or you can have your OWN music playing in the room (how cool is that?), watch tv, or just relax. She is so gentle I've fallen asleep in her chair many times. \r \r When it comes down to the dental stuff, she definitely teaches me a lot. She doesn't just say ""ok you have 3 cavities see you next week"" she takes pictures of each tooth, uses models to demonstrate what she means, and draws me pictures. They have all the latest technology and I can see my xrays and pictures up on the screen.\r \r Obviously I just can't say enough good things! I've sent at least 5 people from my office and lots of friends too. I've also been treated by Dr. Rabinowitz at Park56 when I needed my wisdom teeth out. Ruof and Rabinowitz are like the dental dream team!\r \r more

it was 5pm on a late wednesday afternoon and my temporary bridgework that was done last year by a dentist in chicago broke into 5 or 6 pieces while i was snacking on some mixed nuts. i looked in the mirror and my lower front teeth, all the way to the molar teeth on the left side, looked like little fangs, with a couple of large spaces where i was missing some teeth. i must admit that i had procrastinated in getting my permanent crowns and now i was paying the price. one of my co-workers recommended that i call their dentist, dr gerry herman, a prosthodontist at park 56 dental group. i was embarrassed to say that i never even heard of a prosthodontist until i looked it up on google. i called the office and they said that they were going to close for the day pretty soon but that dr herman will see me as an emergency patient. at 6pm dr herman took a look at my mouth and said he will take impressions of my mouth and send it to his lab for new temporary bridgework and that because so many teeth were involved he would ask his lab guy to rush the case and have it back by friday morning. i almost broke out in tears and explained that i had my job review in the morning and needed to be at the top of my game. to make a long story short, dr herman asked his assistant if she wouldn't mind staying for a few hours. he proceeded to mix up a batch of temporary acrylic bridge material and molded it on to my teeth. then he had me go through a series of chewing and jaw movements until the material was set. finally he began sculpting and carving this block of acrylic until the bridgework was done, i think it was about 8 teeth!! it was polished and cemented and by 8pm we were done. the temporary bridge looked and felt better than any permanent crowns i ever had. this guy is an artist and a dental genius and one helluva nice guy. his assistant is wonderful and the office is beautiful and clean and modern. dr herman is currently working on my permanent bridgework. one last thing - dr herman discovered and diagnosed a gum problem that i never knew i had and his hygienist is working to correct it. i am very grateful to dr herman and park 56 dental group. more

Even though I have lived in the city for a number of years, I avoided finding an NY based dentist (I just stuck with my NJ based one) because it was just too exhausting and I didn't want to risk having a bad experience (I only go to the dentist about once a year, which I know is not often enough). Anyway, I finally braved a dentist (not Dr. Ruof) that was recommended by a friend and I noticed after two visits that they were always suggesting little add ons - things like ""oh you REALLY need to start using an electric tooth brush. we sell them up front."" or ""cosmetic procedures x and y would REALLY help protect your teeth in the long run"". I started to get the feeling I was being sold unnecessary things, which left a really bad taste in my mouth because it is really important to me that I can trust the advice of my medical professionals. They even went so far as to try and make me feel insecure about my teeth color (which is pretty much a normal shade of white) to try and sell me whitening services. I was ready to run right back to my NJ dentist, but on a whim (and a different friends recommendation) I visited Dr. Ruof. And she was great!! Not only was she super friendly and an extremely proficient dentist, she also dispelled a lot of the myths my previous dentist tried to pass off as facts (it turns out I do not, in fact, need and electric toothbrush). This kind of honesty, combined with the fact that she clearly explained everything she was recommending and why in terms I could easily understand, made me feel completely comfortable. She never once tried to ""over-sell"" me. And to top it off my teeth look great!! I will never go to another NYC dentist. Dr. Ruof is a great find and highly recommend anyone seeking a dentist check her out as soon as possible. more

I am from Australia (where the medical system is far less complicated) and have lived in the US for 4 years. It has taken me so long to finally find a dentist who is capable, honest and accessible. Dr Ruof at Park 56 is easily the best dentist I've ever been to. Prior to my fortunate discovery of Dr Ruof at Park 56, I typically hated the thought of going to the dentist. Matters were only made worse by numerous bad experiences at ""random"" dentists I tried around the city - again it's difficult for foreigners to know where to go. The last place I was at was totally sketchy. My teeth cleaner was wearing sunglasses inside (hiding a black eye or something) and they recommended some treatment plan that was totally geared at maxing out my insurance payments involving some 14 future visits into the future. I had heard the horror stories of doctors here trying to over-treat and over-subscribe to maximize revenue, however now I had experienced it first hand. Of course, I never went back after the first visit and was almost turned off ever going to see a dentist here in the city again. Thankfully, I heard of Dr Ruof through a friend. Burned from my prior experiences and a little apprehensive at first, I was absolutely blown away by the contrast of the experience. The staff at Park 56 are SO nice. I couldn't work it out, were they being this nice just because I was new? No, having been back a number times since, they are genuinely this nice ALL the time. They always call me by my name and are extremely helpful with scheduling appointments, payment, insurance stuff, etc. Then the experience with Dr Ruof is like no other dental experience I've ever had. Totally relaxed, we had music going in the background, TV on if i wanted it. Yet the best thing about Dr Ruof is that she is an excellent teacher. I am one of those people that like to have things explained to me about what is going on and why things are the way they are. She explains exactly what is going on, what the causes are and what the options are to fix them. This is in complete contrast to all other dentists I have seen previously. I totally recommend Dr Ruof and Park 56 to anyone who wants a new dental experience. I can't rate her highly enough! more

I have lived in SF, LA and NY and been to dozens of dental offices in my life. I have had small fillings, crowns, veneers, basically the whole nine yards. Like most people, my dental experiences were ones I would rather forget. But not so at Park 56. The Park 56 office is spectacular and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating of a busy schedule. I saw Dr. Laura Ruof when I first started going to Park 56 two years ago after an older filling came out. She was the best. She was friendly, she took the time to explain what was happening with my tooth and didn't rush to judgment or drill, she fixed my tooth to perfection and said we will keep an eye out on the rest of my old fillings. Over the next two years I have had to see Dr. Ruof for a number of issues from toothaches to veneers and invisalign consults. I chipped my front tooth on a plastic fork on New Years and Dr. Ruof was able to see me on a holiday to fix my broken front teeth. She did an incredible job and my smile has never been better. I seriously never thought I would say going to the dentist was an enjoyable experience, but Dr. Ruof really changed my perspective, she was so nice and helpful, really eased any anxiety I previously had. Don't be deceived by Dr. Ruof and thrown off by her beautiful office and charismatic ways. Do not make the same mistake that I did and go to Park 56 Dental. I was 24. flossed regularly, had steady dental follow up, and took pretty good care of my teeth. I was shocked when I found out that I had TWELVE cavities, but since this was my first time going to a dentist that wasnt my childhood dentist, I had no reason to not believe my Doctor. Dr. Ruof began drilling but NEVER TOLD ME HOW MUCH EVERYTHING WOULD COST.. roughly an entire semester of university tuition. You would think after a conversation about how I spent the last year volunteering with refugees that I may not be able to swing the bill, but I digress. With half the work done, multiple temporary on-lays drilled and 2 cavities filled, I went for a second opinion. Dentist # 2 is a friend of the family and a part time professor at the NYU school of Dentistry. He had to fix one cavity that I actually had (she didnt fill it completely) He told me that all of the inlays and onlays were purely cosmetic and unnecessary and because I grind my teeth that she should not be so drill happy. I do not care to cosmetically fix the back of my molar. No one can see it. Since Dr. Ruof, I have paid thousands of dollars to fix the damage of the on-lays that I did not need to begin with. I was in extreme pain for months after the various procedures and almost 2 years later am still dealing with the repercussions of her overeager desire to drill out all of my teeth. more

Extremely positive experience. The office is warm and inviting, which is helpful for a dental practice! The staff from reception, assistants, hygienist to the dentist (I had Dr. Ruof) were all very friendly and professional, being able to put me at ease while also being very knowledgeable. Highly recommended! more

office is very clean and front desk is extremely nice and helpful with insurance, appt booking and any questions. cleaning was great as well. hygenist was extremely attentive and thorough. made my teeth feel very clean afterwards! also got a filling procedure here but am having some issues with pain afterwards. went back 2 weeks after the procedure for check up but was told to give it some more time. now, a month later, i'm still having pain when i bite down so it's time to revisit. hopefully sanding it down will alleviate the biting pain. more

I brought my young daughter to Dr. Abramsky after she had been traumatized by an pediatric dentist and Dr. Abramksy spent a lot of time with her getting her to trust him. He was infinitely patient and did magic tricks and told her jokes until she actually began to enjoying going to the dentist. Now the whole family goes to him and we all love him. THe office has state of the art equipment, great hygenists and a very friendly attitude with the staff. It is the best dental office I've ever been in. more

Great dentist, night and day difference from the old place I went. And crazy enough, they take my same insurance! It's amazing how much better I can get with the same insurance plan and I didn't even know it! Every person I met was super friendly and cheerful, and very personable. The atmosphere was like a nice hotel: classy, clean. Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially if you have MetLife Dental Insurance, as I don't even have a co-pay for regular cleanings! more

Not only are my teeth sparkly clean, they did a thorough neck, and mouth check for cancer. \r \r i thought i was flossing properly (i go in and side to side), but did you know you need to go back and forth?...bad explanation, they'll show you.\r \r they didn't try to hustle me into getting any dental procedures done, and they have the most high tech equipment i've ever seen.\r \r on top of that, everybody (reception, dental hygenists, dentists...)\r \r this place is great, and i would send my family here if they lived in nyc.\r \r thanks park dental! more

This was my first dental appointment since moving to NYC and I was nervous as I have had some pretty miserable medical office experiences here. However, to my delight, the experience was perfect. Every one is professional yet friendly. They used equipment for the cleaning that I had never seen before and did not push me to have xrays until they receive the xrays from my former dentist. The best part was that I brought in a night guard that I rarely wore it as it was uncomfortable. Dr. Herman made me a new one which is far superior in comfort and I actually use it every night. I am thrilled to have been so lucky as to hit upon a wonderful dental practice. I will not be nervous to return and have faith that their advice and services will be in my best interests. more

Dr. Spielman finished a crown and filling for me this morning. As always, he went out of his way to help me feel comfortable. I've been going to Park 56 for over four years and feel confident I am receiving the highest level of dental care. The staff is friendly and easy-going and it is such a pleasure to go there. A funny thing to say for someone who used to have an extreme fear of dentists. I am so impressed with Park 56 Dental that if I ever move, I will fly back here for my cleanings and dental work. more

Park 56 Group is a top notch dental office with professional doctors and staff. The office is very modern and also so clean. My favorite part about going is my regular checkups with my Hygienist. In my opinion Erica Chamalian is the #1 Hygienist in the office she is highly shilled, knowledgeable, extreamly professional and put's in the extra effort each time I see her.
