The View is of course great. HOWEVER, ...not once, ...not twice, ...not three times, but FOUR TIMES me and my party have been treated so badly, it has ruined my stay at the Claremont Hotel. The last painful encounter with staff ended with a nonsensical and very embarrassing argument with the restaurant manager. Worst of all, each of these heinous experiences in the presents of family and friends who I had planed to treat--the last being truly abhorrent in front of my mom and daughter. -- I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Moreover, I spoke at length with the hotel concierge on this mater and explained that as nice as it is I will not be staying at the Claremont Hotel as long as the current Paragon management is in place. - Nate H. So Im not going to rip them a new one too bad(okay, maybe just a little) BUT, when I think of the Claremont, I do imagine a sense of style that goes along with it. I see old world nostalgia & well dressed folks. I appreciate when a business takes those extra steps to keep it classy. That being said, your frontman(woman in this case)should be holding your banner high when repping you. My hubby & I walked into the restaurant & I think it was a shame that I was better dressed than the hostess that sat us. I'm sorry, crocs(nurse shoes) are not an acceptable form of front of the house career wear ESPECIALLY in such a high end atmosphere. We were sat & she scurried off. It took almost 10 minutes before our server realized we were sitting in her area, though there were others around us. When she did decide to take our drink order, her enthusiasm was non-existent.(fade to Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller calling roll) The equally bland description of the specials led me to ask her, ""Which one would you eat?"" Which was followed by a blank stare & shoulder shrug. Glad I'm not indecisive or we would have been there all night! They have a generous menu, drinks are well poured & the crowd is always a mix of tourist, locals, & people watchers. Of course, the view is spectacular on a clear night & when its not, the room is pretty w/ its communal tables, bar side seating & a couch area. I think most people assume that dining at the Claremont Hotel will cost a fortune, but the Paragon offers an affordable lunch menu that includes a selection of appetizers, salads, hamburgers, sandwiches, and dessert. I ordered a hamburger and fries, and was pleased with the results. Unfortunately, I felt the overall service needed improvement. Our server wasn?t very friendly and essentially ignored us the entire time we were there. Although the service was poor, you can?t beat the amazing view of the bay from the balcony. I highly recommend making reservations and requesting an outdoor table. Pros: Reasonably priced meal at the Claremont Hotel. Cons: Parking fee. more

We have been to the Paragon several times now and enjoyed it each time. The food is good and reliable, but we really come here to sit outside on a warm sunny evening and drink vodka cocktails and watch the sun set and the other beautiful people watching the sun set. Easy to park and right off the freeway ,so its is easy to meet friends coming in from other locations. more
