Best

We have been going to Paragon for many years and can always count on a good experience! Love the big fireplace in the bar and the huge cozy booths in the dining area! The food is...

Worst

I am a resident of the Pearl District and have gone to Paragon many times. However, when I leave, I hardly ever leave satisfied. True, their drinks are amazing and I am sure they ...

not what she used to be 9/18/2003

When we moved to Portland, a friend took us here and it was striking. Great salads, appetizers, etc. Since then, we've had multiple bad experiences particularly with the bar. The bartenders had difficulty making a martini without considerable hand-holding including a round of dry martinis prepared inexplicably with sweet vermouth. The true crime was not ignorance but fraud. We drink vodka often. Recently, despite the sweet vermouth incident, we returned, and the Paragon served us Belvedere martinis that were by our judgment watered. I will never go back. Cons: bartending, mediocre food more

Simply fine, but not good 3/12/2003

There is *nothing impressive* or interesting about Paragon, except it's location. They've got a good buzz, for whatever reason, so we tried it out. The dressing on the Caesar salad tasted like it was 99% mayonnaise, a Kraft Special. The service was slow, indifferent, and patronizing. Portland diners should be more savvy about where they take their friends, clients, family -- this place should not be high on anyone's list. It's mediocre at best. Even the wait staff seems to know it. Pros: location, decor Cons: food, prices more

Great for parties! 11/22/2002

My wife and I have eaten here on many occasions and it has become my lunch time business meeting location. The food is great, service is great, and a party in their gallery room is amazing. The atmosphere in that room is very sleek and cool. We had our rehearsal dinner hosted here and they did a great job ! more

suprise party 11/12/2002

My girlfriend and I took a huge party to the Paragon, unannounced on a Friday night. The staff was accomidating, the food was excellent and the drinks were outstanding. Pros: Atmosphere, Beverage Selection, Staff Cons: reservations 1st Thur more

I love the corn beef sandwich! 8/13/2002

Ooo! Yum! Yum! The fries are great too! As well as the pickle! Pros: location, location, location more

Be a 'Goner! 6/27/2002

The Paragon has been my 'default' bar for the past year or so. The bartenders and servers are always nice and friendly and I've never had anything less than good food or drinks. The DJ music is very cool and you can still have a conversation over it. On the down side, there is hardly any live music anymore and there has been an influx of customers from the 'burbs lately. It's just not quite the scene it was a year ago. Still, it's a great bar and restaurant! I always enjoy being a goner! Pros: Service, Food, Drinks Cons: No live music, suburbanites more

good food but.... 6/17/2002

The food and service is always very good, my only critique would be the employees that are off shift sitting at the bar. Customers can sometimes overhear things they shouldn't. more

Nothing to write home about. 6/15/2002

There is really nothing to write home about. The food is average. It tastes kind of bland. Definitely not worth the price they charge! more
