Disrespectful Service 9/5/2010

I went there a couple of months back. The guy that takes the orders started yelling at my teenage son for picking up someone else's order. He was arrogant and disrespectful, even though it was acknowledged by one of the cooks that they called our name. I'm not going back. more

Great Burgers 5/30/2010

Overall my experience was a great one with this little burger joint embedded on Des Plaines river road. Quite delicious and mouth watering. The only problem was that the lines are so long with people who are twice the size of you, its disgusting. I do recommend the 1/3 pound cheeseburger, you will not be dissappointed! Pros: Burgers Cons: Lines as long as the amazon river, parking more

Three-way Fries, and Shakes top the menu 11/1/2008

I arrived at 10:45am and there were already six people waiting for the doors to open. The menu is simple with just the basics (hot dogs, burgers, sausage, beefs, and all the typical sides. I ordered a couple 1/3 lb. cheddar burgers (one of which was for my wife), a hot dog (Chicago style), three-way fries, small fries and a chocolate/banana shake. Everything made it home except for the shake and fry.\r ? Char-grilled 1/3 lb. cheddar burgers: The meat was good, not too greasy ? but for my taste the char-grilling was too overpowering. I liked the unique Merkt?s cheese flavor (I have used this brand of cheese on my home burger.) The toppings were plentiful (I had raw onion, but grilled onions is an option), and the bun was fresh and yummy. (give the burgers a 2.5 out of 5?disappointing)\r ? Hot Dog (Chicago style): mine was steamed, but char-grilling is an option. Nothing super special ? the dog was crisp and the toppings were fresh (4 out of 5 stars).\r ? Fries (had regular and 3-way): Had to order the ?3-way? fries ? previous reviewers cited that as a must have?and I agree the 3-way fried were wonderful and probably 1,000 calories. The good helping of crinkle cut fries were tossed into a Styrofoam container, topped with cheese, and generous dollop of sour cream and REAL bacon bits. The fries were cooked perfectly, and all toppings were delicious. (5 out of 5)\r ? Chocolate/Banana Shake: Another winner ? They tossed a fresh banana was made one with some chocolate ice-cream ? I sucked that lovely mixture up rater quickly (4.5 out of 5).\r To wrap it up ? I will probably never stop back, mainly because I live rather far away, but I would expect the long lines to further discourage me. \r If you are burger lover ? try these two places? The Spot in Kenosha, and Monk?s (Wisconsin Dells), oh ya in if ever near San Diego ? Hodad?s is by far the best burger in the world.\r Pros: Shakes, fries, friendly staff Cons: Long lines, lack of seating more

Have patience folks - you won't be sorry! 6/20/2008

Sometimes you need to know what you're getting yourself into, and this is one of those situations. I'd heard this place had long lines, so I was prepared for that. Other than the annoying woman behind me who has no sense of personal space, and despite the fact that I was beginning to doubt my sanity for waiting in line nearly 40 minutes on a Friday at 3pm (wow, what's up with THAT?) It was SO worth it. We had everything you should NOT eat, and it was delicious! The banana coconut cream pie shake was to die for, including toasted coconut and cherries.....the bacon cheddar burger....WHOA it was GREAT, 3 layer fries (includes cheddar cheese, sour cream and REAL bacon bits), and onion rings. We all ordered a little something different with regard to sides so we could share. WORTH the wait, no guarantees on your line mates! Yum! Pros: Wonderful food Cons: High calories!!! Long lines more

Bad customer relations 5/18/2008

The hours they have are not customer freindly. We were in town for a concert(we are from Minnesota) so we thought we would stop in. We found the place and saw plenty of people eating outside and the door was open so we naturally thought they were open, but nope. The old hag of a lady said they were closed even though we could see them cooking in the background. Bad customer relations. If your closed, then don't have your door wide open and be cooking in the background! Also, why would they close at 5pm on a saturday? more

solid burger, def top 10 quality 3/5/2008

i enjoy a good burger. pradise pup delivers. we were craving a good burger and decided to roll to paradise pup. we got there and waited outside in the cold for 5 minutes or so before we got in. we secured a spot at the stools and took our first bite. juicy, flavorful, and unique. by unique i mean good. good like a backyard barbeque. fat meat, crispy bacon, and damn good seasoned fries. worth the wait. will go back in the summer. try the blackcherry koolaid. don't expect a fancy meal. this is man food in its entirety. Pros: not feeling fat and greasy after the meal Cons: the fat and greasy man sitting next to me more

Out of the way, but darn good dogs... 11/1/2007

This is one of those places that you'll have trouble finding. But if you dome come across it, while winding alongside the river, do stop in for a terrific Chicago dog. I love the char dogs, but pretty much everything is solid and nicely priced. Plus, you see everything being prepared -- it's a tiny joint, so nothing's hidden. more

worth the wait 10/25/2007

The parking lot is packed on Saturday and don't park in the lot next door. I was lucky to grab a spot and then I got in line. It wasn't a huge line but it moved kind of slow. but when I saw them cooking everything fresh I did not mind. I got the double cheddar burger. 2/3lbs. It was really good. I wanted to get a hot dog too but With the 3 layer fries and a shake I didn't. I will definitely stop back and try a dog sometime. This pace is definitely worth trying. Pros: food was very good and the price was not bad for as much as you get Cons: long line more

Some say it is good, Some say it needs some work 9/21/2007

This was our first time:\r Someone from my office ran to pick the food for the office, He had high makes for the cleanliness of the place, great parking and friendly people.\r They had no menu's for take out, Fax machine was not turned on, Someone had mentioned.\r The bun did not hold the goodies in place. Meat was to thick, Maybe that was due to the rareness of the meat.\r I liked the grilled onions, seasoned fries were a little too salty for me.\r \r I would try it again and make sure the meat was cooked well\r \r Pros: Grilled onions Cons: meat not cooked more

Best Seasoned Fries 4/25/2007

You may have passed this place up on River Road, but make sure to make a u-turn and get in there!\r If you are looking for real, authentic and heart-clogging food, this is it. (*note: there are a few healthy options, but you'll forego them). THeir seasoned fries are good enough by themselves, alhough cheese will compliment). Love hotdogs, but their cheddar cheeseburgers can't be forgotten. \r \r LOng wait, but good things come to those who wait. \r And there is no way you can take this food to go, you'll start eating it from the second you get it!\r ENjoy!!!! Pros: Service, Quality, TAste, Cons: Ambience more

TRY THIS PLACE!!! 12/13/2006

This place Rocks!!! Been going there for years. I've had just about everything on the menu and I can tell you it's ALL good. They use Merkt's melted cheddar and it's excellent. The paradise fries are ""to die for"". The owners work right there making the food for you so you know it's going to be quality. Do youself a favor and TRY THIS PLACE!!! Pros: All Good. Cons: Shorter business Hours. more

Worth the wait! 11/9/2006

These guys totally do it up right! The food is excellent, the prices are good and the service is great!\r I wish they were open longer, but then everyone has a life other than work.\r My favorite is the cheeseburger on bavarian dark rye. They have the best fries in all the state too!\r They are always friendly and as fast as they can be with lines going out the door all summer.\r Remember.....good things come to those who wait and you'll be glad you did! Pros: Easy to get to, plenty of parking, and outside dinning in the summer months is a plus! Cons: They don't generally take phone orders, so stand in line, it's worth the wait! more
