Not what it once was... 4/11/2006

We started going to Paradise Cove with visitors a few years back (probably around 2002). We've always used the coupon in the Entertainment book to get 25% off, and we get the Royal Ali'i package. I would recommend getting this package, and getting seats in the royal box. The box is elevated, allowing an unobstructed view of the show, and the food is brought to you, rather than you having to go through the buffet line. This allows you to visit with friends, and not miss any of the show. However, the downside of things has been the drinks. When we first starting going, the bar offered all sorts of tropical drinks to choose from. Starting in 2005, they severely reduced the types of drinks offered, and got rid of my favorite, the Banana Mac. We found the limited number of drinks not among our favorite, and have decided that next time we have visitors, we'll try Germaine's luau. more

Mai Tais!!! 12/31/2005

We went to Paradise Cove Luau with a group of friends and family. It was a great time and what made it even better was that the Mai Tai's were all you can drink! The food served was ok as well as the show. Ultimately the best part of going was to experience the polynesian culture with a group of people. Paradise Cove offers many activities while waiting for dinner to be served and the show to start. You can make lei's, go canoeing, and throw a sharp long stick at a bullzeye. Good fun! more

A must do for tourist 12/28/2005

What a way to experience many aspects of Hawaii. When you arrive, there are many activities underway. You can learn how to weave using leaves, play hawaiian games, watch a tree climber climb a coconut tree and so much more. Then as the sunsets, the luau really begins. The local food is wonderful and you are provided with a couple of drink tickets, but can buy more if need be. The show is very exciting with hula dancers and the fire show. What makes it really fun is that some audience members are invited on stage to give hula dancing a try. This is a must do for tourist and even locals as well. more

Fun Hawaiian Experience 10/5/2005

I went to my first Luau when we have visitors last year. We had a group of ten and purchased the Alii package I believe which included unlimited Maitais for about $45 or so. When we arrived, there were a lot of activities to participate in. Weaving tee leaves, throwing a spear, etc. The fire show was my favorite, especially because they do it right after the sun goes down and the fire glowed real nice. I'd recommend this event to any tourist visiting the islands. And if you're a local, you can get a kamaaina discount =) more

Beautiful Setting for Luau 7/11/2005

The Paradise Cove Luau is a fun way to spend the evening. It is fairly expensive, but if you've never been to a luau & you will only be visiting Oahu, then this is a good one. You get several drink tickets with the meal, but will probably drink more than you planned. The shuttle buses that run from Waikiki are great & more than 3/4 of audience uses them. It is a long drive from Waikiki so might as well let them do it, esp if you didn't rent a car. The performance is good, the food is local favorites & you will have a good time. I rated cost as average because all are about the same cost. more
