Tired Food; Excellent Service 5/2/2012

Wanted to try this place out, it looked pretty good. I was impressed with the soufle, but the french sauces on all our dishes was not up to snuff (think weak flavor and corn starch). I was very impressed with the service. The bill was on the high side because we ordered expensive wine. Overall, if you have lots of time in Vegas to kill, go here. If your short on time and cash, then pick a new up and coming spot like (as of 2012) ""Sage"". Avoid Yelp, allegedly they rig ratings (thru unexplained ""filter"" algorythms that favor advertisers). more

Excellent French Food 3/5/2009

Pamplemousse is tucked away in a fringe area of East Sahara near Paradise Road. The room is a flashback to 1950's Las Vegas. The fettucine a la Georges was a winner as were the duck breast and confit. Service is good but less formal than in many fine restaurants. Worth a visit more

what in the world... 7/19/2008

wow what a huge dissapointment at what could be a really great restaurant! my husband and i had 8:30 reservations and looking in a half full dining room they made us wait 20 min before we got seated!(i really hate this, all they were trying to do was push us on the bar and press us to buy over priced drinks!!, ) when we where finally seated we still had to wait a good 5 min before anybody even noticed we were there! the food was very good dont get me wrong and prepaired perfectly, but a 45 min wait between apps and dinner? nobody ever filled a water glasses? they even forgot one of our side dishes!! and i had to waive the waiter down to get it!! this was worse service then what you expect at a dennys!! and this is a fine dining $150-200 a head wolfgang puck restaurant!! like i said food was great, but everything else was awful more

Terrible neighborhood 7/19/2008

We were hassled IN THE PARKING LOT by a homeless man. After a really pushy conversation while my wife was standing right next to me, I was so agitated I had a hard time enjoying the food. Service was average, nothing exemplary. We mentioned to one of the waiters about the situation outside, and he said he would take care of it. After dinner was over, we came back out, and he was still there. Pros: Good authentic French food Cons: terrible parking, LYING waiters? more

Updates for Pamplemousse le restaurant 11/4/2007

Contact: Lee Ann Groff-Daudet or Jean-David Daudet\r \r \r \r \r Las Vegas? favorite French Restaurant ? Pamplemousse le restaurant - now open for lunch Mondays through Fridays \r and dinner seven days a week\r \r \r Founder George LaForge hand picked Jean-David Daudet and his wife Lee Ann to join him in the operation and ownership of the 85 seat restaurant. Daudet hails from the Burgundy region of France, where he owned and operated his own acclaimed restaurant, Le Trou Poinchy, for twelve years before moving to Las Vegas as the Executive Chef for Drai?s at the Barbary Coast. \r \r \r \r ?What Georges LaForge created in Pamplemousse is a very special place where friends gather and enjoy great food. My goal is to keep all that is wonderful about the restaurant ? the charming candlelit rooms, the waiters reciting the menu, the classic dishes like Duck, the Lamb, and the Veal, the crudite basket, olives and French bread that we deliver to each table.? \r \r Daudet has added a few of his own specialties including a Chilean Sea Bass cooked with soy and ginger, Salmon with Spinach in a Puff Pastry, a Tomato and Goat Cheese Tarte and some new deserts including a Chocolate ?Volcano? Fondant and a Grand Marnier Souffle. ?We?re using a greater amount of organic ingredients, and have expanded the wine list ? particularly the wines from France and California.?\r \r The restaurant is now open for lunch Monday through Friday with a special ?bistro? menu that includes classics like the Croque Monsieur, Moules Frites and Coq au Vin, as well as a variety of salads and soups. more

The neighborhood is old being at the beginning of downtown,( buildings from the 60's)...so we were wondering at first but like the website said, what a charm once we entered . 6/27/2007

\r \r The waiters were wonderful, attentive without being intrusive, and everything was explained to us in great detail. \r I enjoyed the Escargot for my first time and my husband who does not usually eat seafood, greatly enjoyed the combination appetizer of shrimp & scallops., The restaurant is lovely., cozy and intimate \r The wines we had were very nice. All in all, it was a wonderful experience to celebrate the wedding of our friends. \r \r Pros: Excellent Food & Service, Romantic Ambiance, non obstrusive attention. 3 star Michelin Chef Cons: Parking quite small ( but getting improvements) old building from the 60's(downtown) more

Stuffy, crowded, rude 2/15/2007

No Menus - Me and my boyfriend don't speak french. We ordered with ""uhm and ahh"". We took suggestions from the waiter\r Bad Parking - We parked parralel to Sahara. It was a very busy night. Not in the best part of Las Vegas\r Stuffy Restaurant - Very small. Wasn't ""romantic"" like I had originally thought. Not enough room to do anything. Waiters constantly were leaning into our table to let others pass.\r Waiters - Perhaps it was a long day for them. Very huffy and impatient. Felt a little ackward like we had done something wrong.\r \r I would never reccomend someone to here. Pros: Not on the Strip Cons: Parking, Ambience, Rude Waiters, No Menus more

Best dinner in years 5/19/2006

This was by far the best dining experience my wife & I have had in years. We felt like we were long-time friends of the staff by the time we left. The food was spectacular, plentiful, and quite reasonably priced. On the way there, the cab driver asked us how may times we had been there, to which we answered ""none, why?"" His reply: ""because most people I drive there dine there every trip they take to Vegas"" Enough said. You WON'T be disappointed. Pros: reasonable prices, friendly staff, memorable food more

Outstanding Value......Wonderful Food and Service 5/27/2005

Just returned from Vegas. As always, we had a dinner at Pamplemousse. Party of 10. Outstanding food and value. This was our third dinner with Pamplemousse in the past year. Twice with groups of 8 and 10 and once with a party of 40. They have not missed a beat. Even opened 15 minutes early for us this time....so we could make a show. We will always dine at Pamplemousse when we are in Vegas and you should too. Price......salad, appetizer, main entree and wine....skipped desert since we planned to have it later......$52 including tip......that is outstanding value in Las Vegas!!! more

Nice, country french 3/16/2005

This is a nice place a bit off the strip in Vegas. The outside is unimpressive, but the inside is cute and looks a bit like a wine cellar. They start every table off with a crudite of very large vegetables with some fantastic dressing, great hot bread, and olives. The main courses are good - we tried the duck with cranberry sauce and the veals, both ways. Dessert was profiteroles which were good, but not fabulous. more

Incroyable !!! 8/28/2004

One of the Best in Vegas 9/1/2003

My wife and I celebrated our first anniversary with a dinner at Pamplemousse. We're locals and wanted something different than the often great fare in the hotels, and this was absolutely wonderful. Dinner was extremely good and the entire dining experience wonderful. Reggie and Chris, our servers, provided us with one of the best dining experiences we have ever had and expect to return to have again and again. Pros: Excellent Food, Memorable Service, Initimate Atmosphere more

Perfect spot 6/28/2003

Where else can you go for appetizers, salad, bread, wine, entres, dessert, and atmosphere for $35 per person? I can't wait to go back. Don't let the exterior or the lack of menus scare you away. more

Awesome Value 2/24/2003

Possibly the best $90 (incl. tax, 20% tip) I've spent for a meal (for 2). Food was excellent, service was top drawer. The wait staff was great, and the depth and quality of the menu was impressive. Everything we had was superb. The only negative was parking is minimal, and the restaurant is not located in the greatest part of town. Pros: service, value, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Quaint & Perfect!! 1/7/2003

Pamplemousse is a dining experience. The extraordinary staff treat all their patrons as if they were celebrities. With each visit to Las Vegas we look forward to dining here. P.S. The Creme' Brulee is incredible!! more
