I'll Never Find Another You 7/19/2009

Dr Pam Gray and I go back to the early 90's when she diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. Up till that time no one could say what I was complaining of. A few years later she pulled another miracle ""out of her hat"". She takes the time to listen and even draws diagrams or writes notes to ensure you understand what she's doing. Always refers you to the best in their specialty field. Doesn't insist you take medication. Let's you make the decision after she tells you what it's for and how it will help you. She makes you feel special. Enters the room with a smile of how good to see you. \r It really upset me to hear that she may have to give up her practice. Now, I see on this site that she's probably moved already. I feel like a part of my soul is gone. She was part of what makes Hampton Roads great. You'll be in my prayers always. Dr. Gray, you are loved by many of us.\r Sincerely\r Virginia Laney Pros: She Knows Her Stuff more

Will always compare other MD's with her 7/10/2009

I knew on 1/10/09 that she would be leaving. Too bad we couldn't get together to to see if we could talk her in to staying, but understand she has a very good offer from her former rheumatology professor. Really sad to see her go since I'm not really happy with new MD. She is ok but only one Pam gray. She really spoiled us. I have been without a PC since 10/08. Really happy to be back on.\r AS OF TODAY SHE IS STILL IN TOWN PRACTICING AS A RHEUMATOLOGIST AT THE LOCAL VA CLINIC\r Pros: There is only one Pam Cons: UP DATE/ 8/31/2009 more

Great Person, MD 5/12/2009

I really miss Dr. Gray - I saw her for over 20 years, and my wishes for her are that she finds peace and happiness in whatever she does. I know there are a lot of us out here that wish we could be her paitents again. My orthopedic Dr. did a bunch of exrays 2 weeks ago and said - you have got to find a Rheumatologist - I know I won't find anyone like Dr. Gray. She is the best. I too, trusted her care. Pros: Everything more

My Doctor My Friend 4/21/2009

Notice: I spoke to Dr Gray 042109 and she will not be coming back to her practice. She is saddened to say she will relocate outside of Virginia. She is aware that we love and miss her and wish us well. Good Luck Dr Gray. Pros: The Best more

life savor 10/21/2008

I saw Dr. Gray for several years. She was referred by a friend as someone who would listen. For several years Drs kept saying I was gaining weight because I ate too much and I was ""getting older"". They all just told me to stop eating and would not even try to explain the lumps in my neck and back. Dr. Gray listened to my symptoms and started testing. She found I had Cushings and she sent me to a specialist. within a couple months I was having a tummor removed from the pituitary gland in my head. I had to travel to Charlottesville to have the procedure because of the location of the tummor. My doctors at UVA told me if I had waited just a couple more months to have the surgery I would not be alive today. I credit Dr. Gray for ""saving my life"" because she listened. I wish now her office was open because my new doctor thinks there might be something wrong with my heart but has taken over a month and still has not sent me for testing. This new doctor will not even answer my calls. Oh how I wish Dr. Gray's office was open. I would always trust her with my life. Pros: Straight talker and willing to listen more

one of the best 9/23/2008

I have been a patient of Dr Gray's since 1996. She was my grandmothers doctor (until passing), my mother's and sister's doctor. She always showed genuine concern and compassion and ALWAYS took her time during my visits, never rushing me out the door. I could always get in to see her when I needed, not waiting 3-4-5 weeks like I have with other doctors offices. She has a great referral service to other specialist doctors that I still see to this day. I, for one, am truly missing her and await her return and I'd leave my current primary care physician in a heartbeat. I can't believe the disappointing reviews listed as I never got any of those impressions when visiting the office. Pros: appointment availability; immediate referrals when needed; never rushed more

Best Physician 7/7/2008

I have been a patient of Dr.Pamela Gray's for over 20 years. I would be in a wheel chair by now if it had not been for her. She has always given me options of treatments and information to read and allowed me to decide with her advice my treatment. I have trusted her advice in referrals to other physicians and treatments. She has always had time to discuss with me my condition.and is the most casring physician I have ever visited. She is my physician and friend. Pros: Has always been there for me. Has taken my concerns and had the time to discuss them with me. more

You must be talking about another doctor. 2/21/2008

In the 20 or so years that I have been a patient of hers I have always found Dr. Pamela Gray to be very professional, careing, and most of all extreamly helpful getting the care and meds that I need for my condition. She has always taken the time necessary to fully examine me, fully answer any and all of my questions, and has been most helpful in my battles with my insurance company to get proper care and medication. I have never felt rushed and in fact she goes out of her way to explain to me any recent developments and treatments for my condition. I always leave her office feeling more encouraged and hopeful than when I arrived. I can not imagine her ever being rude or unprofessional. more

never again 9/11/2007

I went to Dr. Gray and was very disappointed in her abrupt tone, lack of listening and dismissive attitude. I went to her for help and could not get my questions answered. She came across very critical and opposite of what I have read about when a patient should look for when choosing a physician. I would never recommend her to anyone. It was a frustrating appointment to say the least. more

I always feel free to ask questions and always receive a credible answer. I highly recommend her. if you don't want to hear the truth find another MD. NEVER do I feel rushed. She always explains why she wants me do something and listens to what I have to say. I give her 10 stars Pros: Compassionjate. knowledgeable, friendly more

Not a physician I will go back to. 7/25/2007

I found Dr. Gray to be abrupt almost to the point of being rude. She was not attentive or a good listener. I gave her asecond chance thinking that perhaps she was just having a bad day. Not so, it was just as bad the second time around. Pros: non Cons: everything more

Seeking help elsewhere. Suggest Same 7/19/2007

From my experience at my 1st appointment, I do not recommend this doctor. Surprisingly, It was not at all what I expected in my efforts in seeking assistance. I can easily believe the earlier negative posting here. After the appointment, I went home and thought about the possibility of repeating the same experience with my follow-up appointment. I was bothered by a number of things, but particularly by the references made to me about her time, and what my insurance would pay for prompting me to cancel the appointment without hesitation. My spouse who has worked with, and for doctors for 20+ years completetly agreed. Cons: everything more

Dr Pamela J Gray 11/28/2006

I find Dr Gray very caring and compassionate and extremely knowleable. She is usually prompt and ontime.I never feel rushed no matter how busy. Staff is friendly and office appears to be efficient.\r UPDATE. WON'T BE LONG NOW. SHE'LL BE BACK SOMETIME IN EARLY '09. THERE ARE ALOT OF US WAITING FOR HER RETURN. SHE IS TRULY AN ANGEL. IT HAS BEEN A LONG WAIT. BET IT SEEMS EVEN LONGER FOR HER. Pros: compassionate, knowlegeable, on time, feel she is a friend more

not reccomended if you need to find out what's wrong 10/23/2006

i would not reccomend this doctor, especially if you need to find out whats wrong with your health. i went to dr gray and she assured me she would find out what was wrong. she ran some simple bl00d tests and said she couldn't find anything. if you've done any research you know that a lot of diseases don't show on the simple bl00d tests. while she is telling me she can't find anything with the bl00d tests, she proceeds to tell me that it is basically all in my head. she says that i need therapy for depression. when i get up to to leave i realize she had her door open the whole time to her staff and anyone walking by so she is not respectful of your privacy.\r meanwhile i have had to go to the emergency room for extremly low bl00d pressure. the joints on my fingers have become deformed. she should go back to medical school and learn that a bl00d test is a small part of a diagnosis. Cons: everything more
