I tried to get a seat a few times but I had to wait too long. So, I ended up getting food togo AGAIN. I understand people love your food because it's good but I don't think these ...

Somehow I only eat here with a hangover. Although the food is a comforting antidote for what ails me; it is so much more than that. more

Fantastic Cuban Food 6/15/2011

I first was almost dragged to Pambiche by a friend who demanded that I try it. Despite digging in my heels and initially refusing to go out and try somewhere new, I found the experience fantastic. The atmosphere and wait staff are fantastic. The place is a bit small but any wait is worth it. The food is fantastic and has kept me coming back. more

Good food, super service 3/12/2011

We went here on a recommendation from a friend, and it was quite good. The food was good. (The appetizer we tried didn't wow me, but it wasn't bad, either. Everything else was very good.) The drinks were very tasty (sangrias were particularly good), but what most impressed me was the service. We were greeted and seated promptly, apps, drinks, entrees, and desserts all served in an impressive display of flawless timing. The staff here runs like a well-oiled machine, everyone seemed amazingly on the ball, and the teamwork displayed is some of the best I've seen in any restaurant. That in itself is something to write about. I will say we've only been here once, but it will definitely be on our list of go-tos when we hit that end of town. more

I'm ADDICTED 7/19/2010

I'll let the other 101 reviews speak for themselves and me while I'm at it.... but all I can say is this: The food is AWESOME. I've eaten there dozens of times and have NEVER been disappointed. I hope they open a second location to help take care of the long line of hungry waiting customers ;) MUCHAS GRACIAS!!! Pros: Great food, great service, fast take out Cons: Tres Leches a little spendy, long wait at busy times more

Great atmosphere 6/10/2010

My partner and I went to this restauarant to try something new and I was very amazed at the experience. \r \r First off we were seated quickly and brough drinks and menus. Looking through the menu I felt that the prices were a bit high but we happened to arrive during happy hour and there was some great chicken and pork dishes that really were yummy. \r \r The wait staff was excellent and very professional and not too bothersome but just right ... Pros: great happy hours foods and drinks Cons: Entress seemed a bit pricey more

All around wonderful 5/7/2010

This place is great. Not everything is my favorite, but that's because not every food from every culture could possibly be. The breakfast is great! The pastries (especially the passion fruit and chocolate muffins) are awesome. The practices and rules are very normal for any place that is so good and busy. It's not to hurt your feelings or to be mean. It's to maintain a profit and not be ripped off by cheap ""professionals"" that wish to take advantage of anyone and everyone. How about we focus on the food and actual service. Not just being told ""no"". Pros: Breakfast, Lunch, Happy Hour, Dinner Cons: Eggs were a bit runny when ordered over-hard more

yummy yummy yummy 4/13/2010

A friend took me to try out this restaurant recently. It was a friday at 6. Luckly it was just us two. Wait was okay. Thank god for the heaters outside. 2 others were waiting for a to go order. They hate waiting for a table but raved about the food. A waitress offered to get our drinks started while waiting, that was awesome. DELICIOUS food. Wait staff was very nice and worked well together. Pros: Delicious food Cons: to small for groups more

don't bother if you're know REAL cuban 2/6/2010

let me start by saying i did not eat here. i wanted to... but after just drinking the ""cuban coffee"" i opted out of the food altogether. i recently moved to PDX from miami & there was nothing about the coffee that resembled anything i drank in miami from any of the hundreds of cuban eateries i've been to. the desert case is on display, and like the coffee, nothing in there was even remotely close to what anyone who knows cuban deserts would recognize. again, i didnt eat any of it.... but if you know real cuban food or if you care to sample anything authentic, i'd skip this place. however, dove vivi is an amazing pizza place & its right across the street. they make corn meal crust pizza that is delicious! Pros: the colorful building exterior Cons: worst cuban coffee more

Great place to go! 1/24/2010

I have been here for lunch and happy hour. Great food, service, and outdoor seating with heaters in the winter. The staff is more than willing to explain anything on the menu. Quick service! Pros: Happy Hour Cons: Long wait when busy more

Great Place For Food 1/22/2010

Food is unique, fresh and tasty. I took a favorite client for lunch and she agreed that a return trip to try another dish would happen sooner rather than later. My only criticism is that the place is too small and the seating is very close together. Still worth it for a good and reasonably priced meal fit for a Cuban king! Pros: Great Food, Good Service Cons: Very small and crowded more

Enjoyed it (a lot)! 12/14/2009

Been there twice (2 days apart...we were so impressed with the food the first time around). Nice decor. Very good service. Avocado salad is amazing! There's a strong aroma of oil (esp. noticable on clothing the next day) but given that it's a small place in an old building (poor ventilation), I'm guessing it can't be helped. Great value for the money.\r \r PS Very good coffee too. Pros: Very good food! Very good service. Cons: Strong odor of deep frying oil (small place) more

Nonsense policies, food waste 10/30/2009

I saw this same issue by a couple other reviewers. I had late happy-hour at Pambiche a few days ago, and had quite a bit of food left in every dish. So naturally we ask for boxes at the end for our leftovers. Turns out they do not allow anyone to take home their happy-hour leftovers. I had seen something in the menu that said: ""No take-out at happy hour"". Fine. Now, take-out and leftovers are 2 completely different things. I grew up in a very poor country (such as Cuba....) and the idea of throwing good food in the trash just appalls me. I also offered to give the food away to a homeless guy across the street, in front of the manager, instead of it just going in the trash. No can-do. ""If we open an exception for you we will have to do it for everyone"" - can you imagine how much food this place purposefully wastes every single day...I don't even have to have the leftovers, I just don't want food in the trash. I left with a horrible impression and will never go back. Pros: avocado salad Cons: bad service more

Cheap professional women 10/22/2009

I saw those pro's. they wanted to take happy hour food home. CHEAP more

Decent Food 10/19/2009

Although crowded on a summer evening, my party and I didn't wait too long to get a table. I ordered a chicken dish and it's sad to say that it was no different from chicken that my school cafeteria makes! However the empanadas were delicious and they had a good variety of desserts. \r Huge Con: They only accept 2 cards max per table?? This made it very inconvenient for my party of 4 who were all planning to pay separately. How difficult can that be to just split the check into 2 different tables? My friend had to actually run down the street to a convenient store and get cash. lame. Pros: Empanadas & desserts Cons: policies, not very accomodating more

Food, folks, and flat-out fun! 8/6/2009

I love bringing family and friends to Pambiche. It is a really unique place in Portland that is fun to share with others. Bright colors, bilingual servers, incredible scratch pastry and lovingly prepared food wrap you up in a delicious, sensuous embrace. We always leave with smiles on our faces, even when we begrudgingly have waited an hour for a table. My favorite dishes are the oxtail and the spicy gulf prawns. I would steer clear of the yucca frita. My hubby loves it, but it fills me up so much, I can't enjoy the rest of my meal. Don't miss dessert either, especially the lime cake. My beef with Pambiche is the lack of elbow room and the loud- as- hell music. Sometimes I find it a little cozy (as our server once described the interior space) for my taste. So don't expect a tranquil, soothing evening. But do expect some awesome food and service. Pros: High Quality Food, Efficient, Friendly Service, Lime Cake Cons: Tight Quarters, Loud Horn Section! more

Delicious Food and Pastries 7/28/2009

Pambiche is one of my favorite places to while away an afternoon nibbling small plates and enjoying a hot cocoa in the winter. During the summer, I wish they had cocktails to sip (I'm not a sangria kinda girl). I recommend ANYTHING on the menu, it is all phenomenal. Desserts, oh their desserts are to die for! Honestly, you can't pick a bad one. I have to say the sweet potato cheese cake is my favorite though... or was it the pineapple cake. Oh just try them all! Pros: the food Cons: no full bar, can get packed more
