Bad, Bad, Bad people!\r \r I owned a cooperative unit in a building Paley manages. Paley makes everything soooooooo much harder, stressful and expensive than it needs to be. Every person that works in this butcher shop has a terrible attitude. If you dare ask a question, they immediately get defensive and aggressive. They make up new rules as they go along, and when you point out their inconsistencies, they flip out. It’s really like fighting with a group of wicked, power drunk, 6th graders. \r \r Howard Paley runs the show and should shoulder all of the responsibility for allowing people to act so horribly. Shame on you Paley. \r \r I agree with all of the other comments and strongly recommend you avoid this “company”. more

MANAGEMENT COMPANY IS A BUNCH OF CROOKS and keep information hidden until last minute. They did not tell me until after I was approved that they require DOUBLE security deposit and claim afterwards that it was discussed in the first meeting when it clearly wasn't. Also I had to vacate from the apartment early than the end of the lease for personal reasons which is my problem but they said there is no penalty, just that i had to keep paying rent until a replacement tenant. I actually found a new tenant myself. But they refused to tell there is a $550 repainting fee for the apartment!! i was only in the apartment for 4 months and they claim the apartment was filthy when I had cleaned myself and they insisted on repainting even before i physically vacated. more

Property management at its worst 12/6/2011

I've lived in an apt managed by Paley for three long years. The super is totally unresponsive and any jobs he completes are poorly executed. I have repeatedly escalated service requests over the years-- the most recent one being th repair of water damage and mold-- but they really don't care. Thankfully I'm moving out and I'm not looking forward to the trials and tribulations of getting my deposit back. Renters beware. more

BEYOND INCOMPETENT. WILL STEAL YOUR DEPOSIT. 10/14/2010

There are many slumlords in Manhattan. This one does not deserve your money. STAY AWAY. Should you pursue a lease with this company you will likely wind up with ROACHES, RATS IN THE BASEMENT, MICE, WATER PROBLEMS and unhelpful supers. Money is their bottom line, you do not matter. more

HORRIBLE COMPANY 8/5/2010

I have never been treated so poorly in my life! These people are rude. When I called them the owner ""Fritz??"" not only had a giant attitude problem, but also refused to give me his full name despite the fact that I had just sent him a downpayment for an apartment. Furthermore, he is discriminatory in his rentals, as he would not let me rent from him despite the fact that I was well qualified and first in line. When I confronted him about this he simply said that I was ""being too sensitive,"" and then proceeded to hang up on me. DON'T EVEN BOTHER WITH THESE PEOPLE..... COMPLETE SCUMBAGS! more

Bad, bad people, bad, bad company 11/8/2009

Paley management is an awful company. They rip off tenants with horrible appliances that don't work, and raise the rent if you want them fixed. Their supers are illegal immigrants and money grubbing whooores. They should be investigated for illegal practices. If you like rats (both animal and human), roaches, being ripped off, treated like crud and living in squalor, rent from them!!!!!! Pros: evil Cons: evil more

avoid this company 9/18/2008

Terrible customer service, rude, don't care about the tenants interest and refuse to follow up or help with any questions in any way. more

If I could give no stars, I would 7/24/2008

Paley management does not care about its tenants. I've had numerous problems since I moved in just 4 months ago - no hot water on multiple occasions and a leaking skylight that took a whole month for them to fix. When you call the front office or the super, they act like they care and tell you it'll be fixed right away, then they do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. They are negligent deadbeats - don't rent from them. Cons: Do not care about the tenants more

unprofessional management company. Pros: close to subway Cons: terrible management company more

Unethical, unprofessional, worst I've ever experienced 4/29/2008

It's a shame that Laura Lumley has no vision and is not a professional person to deal with. Mental health issues may quander her judgement thereby leaving investors without any help. Steer clear of this one!!! more

Great management 2/14/2008

We live in a one bedroom on the second floor ion the back of the building and any problems that have come up, they have taken care of immediately. Our apt is carpeted from a prior resident in the living room and bedroom, which I love. But, once we moved in I realized the carpet had some stains on it. I called the offices and they told me that I could have the carpets cleaned right away at no charge to me. They would have the carpet cleaners contact me. As soon as I hung up the phone the carpet cleaners called and scheduled an apt for that wk. It was all taken care of with no hassle at all to us. The next issue that arose was that our upstairs neighbor is rather noisy, waking us up and walks around her apt with heels constantly. We don' hear any noise at all from either of the adjacent neighbors. Anyway, I called the office and she said that I had to write a formal complaint and they would notify the tenant of a complaint. Well, almost immedately they sent her a letter and a copy to us as well, asking her to please put carpet down as NY State requires or she could risk being evicted. They took me seriously and took serious action immediately. I was very pleased. The one complaint is the super. He doesn't live in our building and is never around. He hardly ever returns my calls on my first try as well. He also isn't very flexible with what time he can come, only office hours basically which means that I have to be late to work or leave early. We really love our apt and we def have a great deal for our one bedroom. The rent increase that we got after our first year was way below what our friends were getting. We are very happy with the apt overall and plan to stay here for a while. It will be hard to give up such a great place! Pros: low rent increases, quick to respond to complaints, reasonable rent Cons: super stinks more

Worst Rental Experiance Ever 10/4/2007

Urine, food, insects, trash, .... to name of the few housewarming presents left to me when I moved in. Did Paley care? No. Pro-rated? No. Basically deal or bounce and since I couldnt bounce I had to eat over 600 dollars in cleaning and repairs to make the place livable and functional. The super was kind enough to let me know they also kept the prior tenants deposit (as they should) but they never put it back into the apt. Pros: I don't live on the street, super does what he can with the crappy management Cons: Thin walls, noisy neighbors, dirty apt., old appliance, broken promises to get new, etc. more
