GREAT ATMOSPHERE!! 8/5/2006

MY HUSBAND TOOK ME HERE AS A SURPRISE. IT WAS GREAT !! WE WERE SEATED IN THE WINE ROOM, WHICH IS A SMALL ROOM IN WHICH ALL OF THE WINES ARE KEPT. IT WAS A TABLE FOR TWO AND WAS VERY ROMANTIC. THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT , AND THE FOOD WONDERFUL. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! DONT FORGET, ASK FOR THE WINE ROOM!!! more

The Painted Lady -- cozy care in a room by room setting 4/22/2006

The Painted Lady restaurant, tea room, and gift shop turns out to be an almost private experience. Guests are seated by groups in individual rooms. The decor is tea-- tea pots and cups line the walls, hang from Christmas trees, and are placed on your table. Tea has a rich full taste and distinct flavor. Menu offerings are tasty -- they catered to my plain jane turkey with lettuce order, while delivering salads, quiche, crab melts etc. quickly and without mistake. Desserts are delicious -- I tried the Binafra pie -- chocolate cream/fudge with bananas -- it was tasty. The bread pudding comes extra-large with two pieces and a nice syrup, very rich. All were decorated with sugared violets. The name of the restaurant comes from a lady painted in roses that sits in the foyer. The restrooms are clean and the gift shop sells tea and lots of knickknacks. A fun experience. more

Just Lovely 3/19/2006

My mother and I go here for tea about once a month or so. We just love it. The food is innovative while remaining classic and always fresh. The staff is knowledgable about the different types and blends of tea being served and the service is always prompt and pleasant. Even though they are located in an area that is sometimes difficult to get through, I think it's worth the traffic hassle for a great cup of tea. Definitely check it out. more

THE place to go for tea 9/8/2005

This is one of two restaurants that do a traditional British tea. They have the most lovely scones and very good tea selection. On the occasions I have been there, the service has been a bit spotty, but not too bad. And the prices are a bit steep for what you get. more

Victorian America Revisited 7/21/2005

The Painted Lady is an old Victorian house that is now a restaurant and tea parlor. The inside is decorated with old vintage pictures and decor, and the ambience is really soothing and calm. You can choose from just about any room in the house and make it your seating spot, and dine on old wooden tables with beautiful china and linens. The food is great, yet simple and the wait staff here are some of the best around, very attentive. My mother loves taking my grandmother here for lunch because it reminds her of an era long gone by. more
