Lousy service 8/8/2011

I like PF C, the food is good in-house, even if the service is slllloooowww and sometimes non-existent. But DON'T order togo! I've placed 3 orders, 2 online and one over the phone, because I like the food, but I didn't want to deal with the lousy service. For every togo order I've had a minimum of a 20 minute wait, past the time I said I would be by to pick it up. Twice they left items out and other times the quality was lousy. One order I placed online 2 hours in advance and I still had to wait 50 minutes (along with 3 other people) from the time I requested as a pick-up time. Worse, they left out our lettuce wrap, the food that was suppose to be crispy was mushy on the outside and dry in the middle (salt and pepper shrimp and walnut shrimp) and the other items weren't much better. When I called about it I was hung-up on (by accident?) when I called back I was put on hold for over 10 minutes and then all they did was sent me a card for a complementary lettuce wrap, and they still charged me for the lettuce wrap on the order I didn't get! more

Scammed by a waitress. 7/3/2011

Ate there on Friday, July 1, 2011. We were a large party of approximately 40. My wife and I paid our bill in cash and received change. We were also two of the last 8 people to leave. After we left, they approached one of the remaining members of our party and told her that we did not pay, she then paid my bill - twice! The next day I spoke with the manager and operating partner DJ who was very helpful and offered to credit the person that paid our bill the second time. Here is what we think happened. Bill was $44.85 and admittedly we didn't pay attention to the exact total. We gave $60 (in 20s) and received $15.25 back, a ten, five ones, and a quarter. The waitress took our money, made change out of her tips and returned the change to us. We stuck around talking to some of the remaining people and at this point everyone had paid their bills. The waitress waited until we left and then approached the remaining people saying that we had not paid our bill. Putting her on the hook for paying, while the waitress pocketed the extra cash. Again, this is just a theory. However, going to a restaurant with 40 people, many of whom know who you are seems like a stupid place to pull ""dine and dash"" and it seems even stupider that a waitress would pull this kind of crap. I really rate this a 2.5 stars. The food is good, the atmosphere is nice. Given this type of behavior I can't justify a higher rating. I'm only giving it 2.5 because the manager, DJ, was exceptional to deal with. I just hope he gets his staff worked out. If you go to this restaurant, watch out for a short, dark haired waitress with heavy eye make-up. Who knows, maybe in this economy it's happening more often than not. Getting this experience out there because people need to know about this behavior and hopefully watch out for it. more

PF Changs 9/13/2007

Best place to work at, bar none. Management is great, down to the lower echelons of the ladder, including food preparers and kitchen staff. We ALL WORK HARD and strive for providing YOU, our GUEST, with the best service AND Chinese food you've ever had in your life! If the server asks if ""everything is ok"" one too many times, it has nothing to to do with the quality of the food, but an offering of some of the best, if not the best service you've ever had at any restaurant, Chinese or not! Btw, the servers and everyone else working there are all there just trying to make a living, while strictly ""following rules,"" so to speak, which means it is not their fault when they do things a certain way. \r \r Then again, always remember that NO ONE can EVER PLEASE everyone! One ""bad server"" DOES NOT reflect upon the overall goal of the whole staff WORKING THERE FOR YOU, our GUEST! Not every server is good and not every server is bad.\r \r Being a part of the back wait staff, I should know. \r more

Stop Pushing the Family Style Option 3/10/2007

Please stop pushing the family style option (where the waiter picks what we eat). We know it's great for your profit margin, but people like selecting their own food. Pros: Good food. Cons: They really push the family style option. more

Easy parking away from mall crowd, great service and food! 8/4/2006

I usually sit at the bar since you get your food faster and the bartenders are more attentive. I consistently receive excellent service and they always deliver food exactly as I order it. It is packed on the weekends so get there early before 5pm to get a seat without having to wait an hour or more. I recommend the Durham PF Chang's over the Raleigh Crabtree branch. Easier parking and better service! Pros: Great service, easy parking, good food Cons: packed on the weekends, long wait during weekends more

Wonderful food, reasonable prices, great service, nice ambiance 8/2/2006

We love P.F. Chang's as an Americanized Chinese option. This is not a great choice for those seeking authenticity. We absolutely *adore* this place. The food is amazing, reasonably priced, and the service has been super! We were going to the Raleigh location for many years, but had some very poor experiences due to mall-crowd bleedover and extremely long waits. \r \r The Durham location is a stand-alone, which makes the atmosphere much better, but the food is admittedly a little bit better at the Raleigh branch. The only reason I can't give it a perfect 10 rating is due to the fact that my sister had a poor experience with the service - she ordered from the gluten-free menu, and they gave her the usual version, which made her immediately ill. When confronted with this problem, the waitstaff told her that the cook had shrugged it off and said since it didn't contain wheat, there was no difference. In the end, the restaurant owned their responsibility, gave a verbal and then a written apology, and issued her a $50 gift card. Be watchful when ordering specialty items. We are addicts who can't live without our pan-fried dumplings, spring rolls and wonderful entrees, so we will continue eating here frequently! Try lunches right at opening hours for great seating and a quieter mood. Pros: Amazing Americanized Chinese, reasonable prices, stand-alone location Cons: Be clear and watchful when ordering specialty items more

The Glitz Kills It 7/27/2005

I have traveled to many large cities with excellent chinese food. I've had some of the very best chinese available. That being said, I found PF Changs to be too high on glitz & short on delivery. Service was good, the food is decent, plentiful & prepared well, but it is several notches from traditional chinese fare. The atmosphere takes away from the food. The noise level leads one to distraction to the point that you cannot enjoy the food. I find that if you cant have a conversation with those at your table, your experience will be less than satisfying. I have found, nearly universally, that a glitzy atmosphere is usually a sign of fair to decent food that is well over priced. Changs is that. Why pay $30.00 + per person in a glitzy atmoshpere when $15.00 to $20.00 in a quiet but cozy dining room will suffice. Pros: interesting food, attentive service Cons: noisy, distracting, too pricy, way off track more

Disappointing 10/31/2004

As South Durham residents, who are big fans of the Raleigh location, we anxiously awaited the construction of the Durham branch. While the food in Durham branch was OK, it was not up to the high standards of the crisp, well matched flavors we were used to from the Raleigh restaurant. So we unfortunately continue to find ourselves driving to Raleigh. Pros: good location, external decor Cons: , dark inside more
