disposable shoes :( 7/2/2011

the clothes are cool but i bought shoes there and they literally fell apart within like three times of wearing them. they were opening ceremony brand. i guess the rest of it though is good, but like.. come on. i didn't pay $200 for a disposal pair of shoes. and that's just about the cheapest thing there, but still. not cool. in their defense, though, i haven't tried to return them yet. maybe they'd take them back idk. more

Coolest clothes in town 7/31/2010

many of the labels, including many foreign ones, that they carry at this store you can't find elsewhere in the city. The owner has great taste. Pros: Great clothes, hard to find labels Cons: pricey more

This is a really great place is you are looking for clothes that you can't get anywhere else. I definitely would go ahead and cut out The Co-op and just come here if you are looking to step up your game. I wouldn't come here looking for a bargain but then again you get what you pay for. Pros: Best in town. Cons: None. more

indie? 12/28/2008

I went here but I usually shop the one in LA . I was told they had indie beauty products but I couldnt find what I was looking for. I hope I didnt confuse it with another nyc indie store, anybody know what they carry now as indie beauty products? more

The Pinnacle of Street Threads 5/6/2008

Come here for truly unique cutting edge clothing. Many of the items they carry are unique to them and if not hard if not impossible to find, I purchased a Nike Tech Pack jacket that can't be bought anywhere else, not even Nike (I tried). The help is very friendly however I recommend consulting them on sizes unless they have a clear unstanding of your style or what you are looking for. Pros: Truely unique clothing way ahead of the curve Cons: Unfortunately you get what you pay for. more

Could they be any nicer?! 3/2/2008

Okay, I'm just going to say it... going into a place like opening ceremony might seem intimidating at first. All the fancy, pricey labels with tough to pronounce names and the chi-chi ness and all. But can I just say the staff makes any apprehension melt away instantly with their warmth and friendliness. They helped me find the perfect outfit for where I was going by pulling a bunch of cool pieces and talking me through the process. My experience there was just great last week and I can't wait to get back. GO O.C.! Okayyyyyyyy! :) Pros: Super sweet staff, cool labels, fun music/atmosphere Cons: I hate to say it but the prices are a little loco, i guess you pay for what ya get sometimes and i hafta admit their selection is incredible. more

BEST PLACE FOR THE MOST UNIQUE ITEMS! 2/23/2007

i absolutely adore this place! not only i'm in love with their in-house brand - so unique and totally suits my taste, but all the other brands that they stock, especially the MOST complete Cheap Monday Jeans collection there ! the staff members are all adorable and totally fit the store image, plus they're actually very nice - never bother me when i look around but are willing to help when i ask for it, perfect for me because i like shopping alone. some people might be bothered that they're left alone if they don't speak up, but i personally prefer to shop that way. knowing how the clothes wear (if it stretches, what size i should get if i'm in between size, etc) is also a huge plus. the manager is also all smiles and whenever i come in or leave the place. Pros: amazing selection of clothing Cons: some pieces tend to be pricey more

Best boutique 12/18/2006

This store is amazing. Cool, independent labels for men and women. For the ladies they have Topshop, which nobody else has. Plus they have Cheap Monday and their own house label. I always thought the staff was pretty friendly, I don't know what the previous reviewer's problem was. If you can't find what you want at this store then your style is severely lacking. SNAP! more

AVOID!!! 12/6/2006

I got this ugly piece of fabric in yellow called a scarf and this pair of gloves that were missing the tips and something else ugly as a Xmas gift in 2005. I tried to return them but they only give you a store credit for THAT DAY ONLY. Luckily for me, I happened to have some time that day, and I spent it looking at everything til they closed. The manager was totally MEAN and SNOBBY and NOT NICE. I was not rude or anything, afterall, I was the nice one, trying to make do w/ the best of my situation and trying to find something to exchange my present for. I couldn't find a single thing that I liked and told them I HAD to come back. The manager was so unaccomodating and gave me death vibes... but she finally relented and let me come back at another day. Can you freaking imagine? I had THAT very day to decide what to exchange my present for. I ended up giving the store credit to my sister. We both went back and after trying on a whole bunch of stuff, she finally got something there. The thing is, besides all the ugly clothing, it's made of cheap fabric, and not made well PLUS it's pricey for what you get. And I buy Manolo Blahniks, and I know how to find good clothes from H&M to Barneys New York. So I know what I am talking about. It's been a year and I tell you, I STILL CRINGE whenever I walk by howard st & bway, I STILL CRINGE whenever I see the name Opening Ceremony. I STILL Cringe when I think of that little tiny mean witch of a manager (from December 2005). So... Go there if you want, check it out, but the customer service is the worst. I am used to being treated well... I mean, if Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and other luxury shops can be nice, so can this sad shop too, but whatever, they can continue selling ""trendy"" clothes and continue their alienating treatment. But they won't get my money and none of my friends go there either. Believe me, word of mouth is there for a reason. Pros: You save money because you don't want anything they sell. Cons: ugly clothes passing for ""hipster"" more
