the store is cute the owner Jack Seelie is abrasive and not kind. The store is behind the times with regards to kids toys. Its a great store for Grandmothers but not for real kids. Mr. Seelie has been connected to a friend Betty who is 81 and he just terrorizes her> I would boycott this store. more

I visited this magical shop while on holiday in Rocky River this past Christmas season and will certainly be back the next time my travels lead me to Ohio. While shopping for my niece I was so dissatisfied with all the usual chain stores and their typical, unimaginative toys, but Once Upon a Time Toys was the exact opposite. From the wonderful service and unique selection to the feeling of being in someone's home where care and thought went into every detail, I found exactly what I was looking for and sent it off to Florida. My brother called me two weeks after Christmas to say my niece loved her toys and where could he get more like them. Ohio, brother, Ohio. Pros: selection, service, one of a kind more

Visiting Once Upon A Time has been a past time of my family. They always have new and unique toys on hand, which make for wonderful presents. In fact, it's nice to have a neighborhood spot that we can rely on instead of trekking down to Wal-Mart for the one size fits all gift. As far as service is concerned, the staff has always been so warm and welcoming and willing to help us find what we're looking for. I wouldn't think twice about calling this place our funland away from home. Pros: excellent selection and family owned more

This store has there largest selection of toys I have seen in the Cleveland area. It had toys for all ages and many unique things I have not seen anywhere else. I have enjoyed a flying toy monkey I bought from there so much that I went back to get a second one. The staff was very knowledge and helpful. I highly recommend this toystore! We live in Rocky River and visit Once Upon a Time often. Yes, they did seem to go through a rough patch, but in these economic times, who didn't? I have never been treated in a way that was less than friendly and helpful, and they still have a great selection of things you can't find at mainstream stores like Target. Don't give up on them!!! As an ""insider"" myself, I can tell you that management shifted NOT because the staff was getting older and wanting to retire (none were of retirement age, or really that close). I won't go into the details of that. Now that there is a new staff, the store has gone down the drain, fast. There is no customer service and what is there is terrible, no special events, etc. Why come? For overpriced toys? Bad service? I will gladly NEVER shop this store again. And if you knew the owner of the store, and how he treated his staff, you would never shop there either. I had the ""pleasure"" of meeting him during a special event several years ago and I was very surprised. Let's leave it at that. Pros: HA! As a nanny for two three year old girls and a boy just over the age of one I entered Once Upon A Time Toys looking for something that would nurture their creativity, spark their imaginations, and most importantly keep them busy for hours. It didn't take me long to get wrapped up in all the unique and adorable toys that intrigued even me. It was as if a three year old herself had ordered the inventory that stocked the overflowing shelves. The extensive kitchen sets, the funky Groovy Girl Dolls and the adorable dress up clothes were the stuff childhood dreams are made of. Also, the art section blew me away! There were also loads of toys to keep a baby of one happy, entertained and stimulated. Once Upon A Time is my go to store for these kids to ensure they will only receive toys that will enlighten and nurture them. Pros: incredible inventory, caring staff, cool events Cons: It can be hard to choose just one toy. more

For years I have been visiting my daughter and her family in Rocky River for the month of December. I would do my Christmas shopping for my four grandchildren at the toy store, Once Upon A Time. I very much looked forward to it. This year my daughter, who also shopped there, told me that it is not the same. She said that the store must have changed owners or something because there were different people working there, and they were not friendly or helpful at all. I was going to go there anyway because I have been there so many times before, and had some very memorable experiences. My daughter was right. Things had changed. Nobody greeted me when I came in. Nobody offered to help me, I?m 81 years old. The store did not have a very big selection for my grandchildren either. It looked like they were going out of business. My daughter said that this is why she does not shop there anymore and told me that there was another place not too far away, so we left and went there. We used to shop here all the time. The staff that was here (before Thanksgiving 2007) was great. They offered excellent customer srevice. They went out of thier way to accomodate you. NOT ANY MORE! The new staff does not know anything about the products, where they were made or anything. They don't gift wrap any more or offer the little things like helping to carry packages for you. I was totally unsatisified with the lack of concern that the ownership and management has. Not like it used to be.
