Great food, bad service. 4/16/2007

I was planning on getting an order to go, but my husband and I decided to sit in and eat. The atmosphere was great, and we were told to sit wherever we liked. It took a while to get our order taken, and it seemed like the waiter was a little put off when we didn't order any wine, and that we only ordered an apetizer for my husband (he had already eatten but wanted to try out the food) and one entree. We got our order at the same time, but the waiter forgot my beverage. It took forever to get our bill, and we weren't even checked on once during our meal. We noticed everyone around us that was getting the attention had ordered an appetizer, wine, meal, etc...the works...so maybe we weren't spending enough money in the eyes of the waiter to receive good service. I might try and give them a second chance.....but if the next experience isn't better than the first, I won't be returning. Pros: Delicious food, easy parking Cons: bad service more

Horrible service 2/20/2007

This was my second attempt at trying Olive You. After a lukewarm first visit because of the wait for our server and food and also lack of a bartender-- we decided to try it one more time. \r This time we ordered a few things to go from the menu. Mind you we were walk-ins and did not place our order prior to entering the restaurant..... BUT it took quite some time for anyone to acknowledge we were even there. It took even longer for someone to check back with us to see if we were ready to order. Having looked over the steam table we decided to order things that we wouldn't have to wait too long for. There were only 4 tables seated so we thought 15 minutes tops. After working on their plates and finally deciding on who would be taking our order one of the two waitstaff decided to put part of our order together. Of course this was interrupted with bites of food and a personal cell phone call. It took 30 minutes for our order to be completed. I was so frustrated with the wait that I didn't even think to check my order. I got home to realize that not only had I gotten the wrong order but after looking at the bill more closely I had also been way over charged. Where's the Bill? 9/28/2006

The first visit was great up until we ordered. After that, we never saw the waitress again. I believe the owner took over from there. He brought the food out to us & helped us from then on, even though we had to cart ourselves up to the register to pay our bill, which was expressed verbally.\r My second visit was solo. I decided it was time to satisfy my burger craving. I sat at the bar this time. The lady working it was very friendly. I got my order in quick & was served up just as quickly. The burger & glass of wine were great.\r Heres the fun part. The waitress comes up & tells me it will be $16. This is for a burger at $7.95 & glass of house red wine (Im unsure of the price of the wine, but stunned that itd be $8). I give her a coupon for 20% off of the entire bill. She asked what she should do with it. Im stunned & dont reply. Then she gives me a price of $14. So, I ask to have the bill on paper. Apparently, there isnt a working cash register that works for her. She tells me its going to be a while. Now, I feel like a complete a** for just asking for a bill. And, I get the feeling patrons around me feel sorry for her because apparently shes had a bad day. Im sorry, my day wasnt great either, thats why I wanted to go out for a great dinner & relax. Alas, she brings me a bill that has amounts scratched on it (still no price on the wine). After I ask again why its so much, she says Im not trying to rip you off I tell her,Its not that I think you are ripping me off, I just dont think its too much to ask to get a bill for my dinner. Frustrated, I go ahead & pay $14 plus tip (yes, I gave her a tip). Im still not sure how that price came about, but I am tired of feeling foolish. Should I feel foolish?? Poor Customer Service 9/28/2006

Bartender was VERY rude. Waited forever for food as did everyone else. One guy even went up and got his own drink he was waiting so long. Our bill was added wrong--way over what we ordered. Emailed their website about service, received nothing back. Food was good but I won't be back since customer service is not a priorty. Pros: Good food Cons: Poor Customer Service more

What a disaster! 8/31/2006

My boyfriend and I went to Olive You on a Friday evening fairly early- about 5pm. We had eaten there once before and enjoyed the food and decided to return again to try something new. What a disaster! When we got there and sat down we noticed that everyone was kind of sitting around as if they were waiting for their drinks or meals. Our server came quite quickly to take our order but forgot to bring our beverages until about 10-15 minutes later. When our food finally arrived we were missing the garlic pita bread that was supposed to come along with our dinners... and after asking two times for it the server obviously stopped avoiding our looks. Everyone in the restaurant was missing their beverages and their dinners... and as we ate our meals we noticed two tables abort their dinner plans (dining and dashing- not paying for their wine)... Terrible experience... Terrible service.... no tip for them. Pros: Decent food, lots of deli selections Cons: Terrible service more
