One of the better olive gardens... 11/15/2006

I'm' not a huge fan of Olive Garden, but the one on Times Square is a great place to eat...especially if you are strapped for money in New York City. The prices are about the same as elsewhere in the country, which spells cheap! for New York. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is loads better than any other Olive Garden I have visited. If you are a tourist to New York though, please try to visit somewhere different! more

Just another Italian restaurant in NYC 3/31/2006

I went to Olive Garden on Times Square for a roommate's birthday last year, and I had a great time! Although the place is overrun with tourists, as anything in Times Square is, the food is good, the prices won't kill you, and the atmosphere is friendly. But, if you live in New York City, then I'm sure you know at least half a dozen other Italian restaurants in the city that aren't half as crowded, yet serve food of equal or superior quality, and likely have even lower prices. more

Commercial - but you can keep eating that salad! 3/23/2006

The Olive Garden is the antithesis of fine dining in New York City, and it is a really long wait almost any time of the day or night. Sometimes you can get lucky if it's just a party of 2 and can eat downstairs with a relatively short wait. Still, the food is mediocre, the prices are not inexpensive - the main thing going for this place is the never ending salad bowl. It literally never ends. This is actually untrue, since the waitstaff won't really bring you more than one bowl. You can push them to bring you a second, but they'll delay bringing it out until your food is there and then you can't fit everything on the table. It's really a mess. But it is never ending! more

Corporate, homogenized food 3/17/2006

Why do we have Olive Garden in New York? It doesn't make sense to have homogenized, corporate Italian food when we have Little Italy and great Italian restaurants all over the city. Sure, with Olive Garden you know what you're getting, and these are a little better than the ones I've had to go to when traveling on business and there were no other choices. The problem with Olive Garden isn't that it's bad -- it's that all the other choices in this town are so much better. I do like the bread sticks though. more

Yet Another Italian Restaurant. 3/17/2006

The Olive Garden is all over the place, whether you're in New York, New Jersey, or anywhere. If you're looking for great salads and tasty Italian food than Olive Garden is right for you. Olive Garden specializes in Soup and Salads though, probably because they have such a large Soup and Salad bar. Great for the family, and very recommended. I have to say I've been to tons of Olive Gardens and this one is by far the best one. more
