Apparently the owner sent off a few of his bartenders to try and counter what happened to me at this bar. Don't try and make judgements on people you dont know. I was assaulted and pretty much worked through a Stalinesque system of intimidation for having the audacity to ask a question. Once again I was minding my own business leaning on a railing when I was told that I needed to leave. I was confused since I had only had 1 beer and respectfully asked why. I have never been anything but respectful to bouncers but this fat coward decided to just grab me by the throat absolutely out of nowhere when the rest of the bouncers jumped on top of me. Conveniently the cops were waiting outside the door where the bouncer that grabbed me by the throat fabricated a story of his heroism that I was trying to fight him. Of course, the cops are used to this and have to favor the local business owner over a customer so I was handcuffed. I was told that I was lucky they didnt break my jaw and that they didnt press charges. As any adult would do I went along with the cops after they told me I needed to apologize. Its funny how four positive reviews pop up in a row from people who didnt get to witness this farce of heroism from cowardly thugs that are afraid to become real authority figures and just jump drunk people. This bar is a joke and they have further proved it by sending out cronies that didnt even witness the event to attack my character. I guess some people have different experiences than I do at opt's. Your parents obviously did a lousy job of raising you and it's not everyone else's responsibility to adapt to you. If you are looking for a place to act up, start fights with bouncers, prove you never learned how to behave in public I guess opt's is not for you. I would also agree that the bartenders don't put up with a lot of bad attitude and finger snapping from people who do not know how to behave... which is why I continually go back. If you look at the posting dates from the people below its pretty obvious someone got thrown out for being an idiot and had his friends post about how terrible of a place opt's is. If opt's were a terrible place I would not return week after week along with the steady legion of regulars who I see week after week. To the kids who are crying about being thrown out, get over it.. Learn how to act in the adult world. I don't see this being the last bar you are ever tossed out of for being a tool. Come in for cheap drinks(in a plastic cup, after three or four you don't care what it comes in)and one of the best bar pizzas in Indianapolis. My wife and I come in often during the week to watch baseball and for great beer specials and a bbq chicken pizza. If busy bars are not your liking I'd stay away from Friday and Saturday nights starting about 9(its impossible to find parking in broad ripple after 9 anyway). The bottom line is, don't let one bad review stop you from coming in and having a great time. Pros: attentive bartenders, great pizza. Cons: i just realized i'm getting old. more

Been going to OPT's since the mid-ninties & keep going back! Go during the week to avoid big crowds, shoot some pool, or watch a cubs game. Never had a problem with any ""roids rage bouncers"", they've always been nice to us. Then again we are not idiots when we go out in broadripple! Check out the new bar in back & say hi to Matt, Dave, and Owen- cool bartenders! more

If you're out having a good time in broad ripple, my guess is that you are NOT at this bar. If you choose to go to OPTs be prepared to be pushed around and assaulted by their power trippin staff. They have no respect for their patrons, and encourage their staff to be violent and unreasonable. If you stand too long at the bar you will be yelled at, if you ask what you are doing wrong they will simply throw you out- and I don't mean they will put their hand at your back and escort you out (like they claim) They will grab you by the throat, twist your arm behind your back and throw you out. After all that, they will say that you're lucky THEY aren't charging YOU with assault! Trust me, as a long time resident and patron of the Broad Ripple bar scene, I can say without a doubt that your time and money are better spent elsewhere. ABSOLUTE WORST BAR IN BROAD RIPPLE Pros: there are so many other bars to go to! you NEVER have to step foot in this one! Cons: No dancing, no talking, no standing with your friends- you will be thrown out! more

Well, if you do like being attacked by a pack of 'roid raging bouncers and doormen then Old Joes is your place. Pros: Easy to conact a STD from the bathroom and shot glasses Cons: Will most likely get attacked by a pack of 'roid raging bouncers and doormen with small weiners and some tiny nuts more

Terrible people, terrible service. If you are in Indy do yourself a favor and skip OPT's. The ownership is poor, do not know how to handle critiques and will throw you out for any sort of complaints. Skip this bar. more
