Our favorite Kennel 2/19/2010

We are glad to have this kennel in our town. The staff have been very helpful to us in emergencies, and always take good care of our dog who is ""nuts"". We've left her there for weeks at a time, and she's always clean and in good condition when we pick her up. They run a great service, and we are very pleased. Pros: Clean facility, helpful attitutde. Great job with a keeshund 6/15/2009

I took my friend's keeshund to be groomed by the lady at Old Mesilla Kennels. This poor guy had a few dreadlocks and was a bit of a mess. He was scurfy and stinky. He was returned to me groomed to AKC standards. I don't know what those are but he looked very dapper! His scurf was gone and he smelled wonderful! He still smelled great when I gave him back to his owner 3 weeks later. Pros: friendly and quick! Cons: don't tell me to shut the door when my dog's still coming in more

Great Home Away From Home For Our Dogs 5/20/2009

Our two english setters stayed here during Spring vacation and we were delighted with the management, the tour they gave us, the cleanliness of the facility and how we and our pets were treated. Our dogs were extremely happy when we picked them up! Pros: Large comfortable indoor/outdoor kennels, Playtime Cons: None noticed more

nice clean facility for our dog 4/3/2009

I recently boarded my giant schnauzer, Palladin, at this kennel during Spring break for 10 days. When I picked him up, he was happy, fit and had been bathed and looked beautiful. I had to wait a bit to pick him up because of the lobby traffic, but it was well worth it with the service of the management. Highly recomend. Pros: indoor/outdoor exercise area, great service, playtime Cons: may need longer hours due to traffic more

It sounds like someone has a personal vendetta against someone at this terrific facility. Too bad they have nothing better to do. I am sane and whole-heartedly recommend this kennel. When I moved to Las Cruces last year, I found this kennel by word of mouth and also asked the manager for specific client references while she gave me a tour of the property. The facilities were spotless and my dog, Maggie, had a great time. I have brought her here several times since with the same results for both boarding and grooming. SEE FOR YOURSELF and find some LEGITIMATE REAL REFERENCES how wonderful the service is at this kennel for your pet! The positive reviews online are the same as I found first-hand and by calling real, sane people who used this facility. While many people only write reviews who have an axe to grind, I am happy to be able to write this as a satisfied customer to give a first-hand endorsement and to suggest to everyone to check out this kennel first-hand. Don't Go!!!! Terrible, Awful, Traumatizing!!! 2/28/2009

No sane person would rate this place 5 stars. It is terrible. It is obvious to me that the owners are giving themselves positive reviews.I would give this place zero stars if I could. I am a dissatisfied customer. They don't care about you as a customer, they don't care about how your dog looks because my dog looked awful. They don't care about treating your dog well either because my dog was traumatized. Trust me don't believe the positive reviews and spare your pet the misery of this horrible place. more

WONDERFUL HOME AWAY FROM HOME FOR OUR DOGS!! 2/28/2009

We travel with our 2 akitas and visit our family in Southern New Mexico 3 times each year. Last summer we found OLD MESILLA KENNEL in Las Cruces and most recently used their facilities over the holidays. This place is the best boarding and grooming facility we have seen in the southwest. We and our dogs are treated like royalty by the manager, Marilyn, and our dogs are as happy as we have ever seen them after boarding. They also look and smell great after baths, de-shedding and the like before we pick them up! Pros: Super clean, plenty of exercise room and playtime for the dogs Cons: none more

PLEASE READ THIS - This is a GREAT PLACE for your pets! 2/28/2009

We recently brought our two standard poodles to Old Mesilla Kennel for one week of boarding and had them groomed also. We also took advantage of the supervised playtime yard on the property. THEY LOOKED GREAT and we and they WERE EXTREMELY HAPPY when we picked them up. The owner and manager gave us a tour of the indoor/outdoor area for each dog before we tried here and they were absolutely spotless! incompetent Groomer 2/25/2009

We have taken our dogs here for grooming for many years. After a new owner took over we had them groomed and they did a horrible job. When I got home with them my husband called on the phone and was very nice to the owner and instead of trying to work with us he tried to blame it on our dogs saying they have behavior problems, which is not true! We couldn't believe it. We paid over $100.00 for nothing we then had to take them to Better life pet foods for grooming and they did an excellent job. It is a shame this owner had to buy old mesilla kennels and ruin it. Cons: customer service and grooming knowledge more

Try this place - it's great! 11/30/2008

We have spent a lot of time at this kennel since we have 5 dogs. Our dogs have been boarded and groomed here and literally run to the front door when we let them out of the car to greet the manager here. They love their mini-vacations with all of the caring people at the kennel. We've also spent a lot of time talking with the manager and the owner about how the dogs are cared for and have seen the care and maintenance of the dogs and this facility first-hand. We feel very fortunate to have our dogs in such kind and caring hands while we are away from home. more

Terrific Facility and Service! 11/29/2008

We love bringing our dogs to this facility. The owner and manager do a great job caring for the dogs and our dogs love to come here. We also know the owner and have met his dog at the kennel and home numerous times and live in his neighborhood. The owner loves his dog, walks him, plays with him all of the time in his backyard, does not let him roam unleashed and brings him to the kennel to play with the other dogs. We are completely baffled by 2doglovers comments - besides the personal attack. We thought these reviews were supposed to be about the businesses, not personal and unsubstantiated venom against people. more

Rude Owner 11/20/2008

I live in the neighborhood that owner of this kennel lives and I can tell you would never trust him with my dogs. He has a dog of his own that he never gives any attention too. The poor dog barks at anyone and anything at all hours of the day or night for hours on end. The owner never even looks to see if the dog has a reason to bark. We can't take our dogs out to play near his house because his dog wants to play and barks uncontrollably. The poor dog just wants attention and to play. He never walks the dog. I don't know why he would own a kennel when he can't even treat his own dog like a person. He has no respect for his animal or his neighbors. We have lived near him for a few years and he hasn't said two words to us. We don't care that he doesn't talk to us, just that he doesn't treat his pet like family. more

Great Boarding Experience! 11/2/2008

This kennel was great. We liked the set up of the kennel and we liked the playtime for our dogs. We liked the option of the dogs going inside or staying outside at their choice because of the indoor and outdoor portions of their kennel. Our dogs have a doggy door, so this was important to us so their routine was not broken. We would definitely recommend this kennel to our friends and family. Pros: playtime for our dogs more

Our Best Friend Got Great Care 10/30/2008

Our family recently moved to the Las Cruces area and we were in need of a place to care for our best friend. Let's face it, our dog is our child and we are very particular about whom we allow to care for her. We found the Old Mesilla Kennel while driving around the area. We stopped in and received a tour of the property and the staff member was able to answer all our questions and gave us a great deal of comfort and confidence that our girl would be well cared for. Our dog visited the kennel for a long four day weekend and we could not have been more pleased with the way we were treated and the attention to detail they gave to our girl. On our Monday pick up, everything was organized and waiting for us and we were treated very professionally during the check out process. We have since recommended the Old Mesilla Kennel to several friends and have received the same comments from them on their experience. We're glad to have found this special place and we will definitely let our girl stay there again. Pros: service was superb more

Very nice kennel. Indoor and outdoor dog kennels are excellent! 10/30/2008

Our dog had lots of space which we worried about since a lot of kennels have cages. Playtime is one-on-one which we really liked for our dog. Our dog was groomed as well and they did an excellent job even though he is a mixed breed. The groomer helped us decide how best to work with our dog and showed us how to care for him at home. Our dog loves the brushing they recommended. Now, we don't have to worry when we go away because we know our dog liked the kennel and the people too. Great Service! 10/29/2008

As a former groomer with over 25 years of experience and current customer of Old Mesilla Kennel, I am delighted to take my dogs to this facility with the change of ownership. They are delighted too. Grooming is about making the dog feel and look better. I have my dogs groomed whenever I board them, and the new owner and manager do a wonderful job with both of these services. My dogs love to go there and always look great when they come home. Upset1 is probably a very good description all the time for Upset1. more

Great Facility! 10/29/2008

We love this place as do our dogs. This is the cleanest and most pleasant kennel we have ever used for our dogs. We don't understand 2doglovers comments about the owner - we also live in this neighborhood and have visited the owner and his dog many times - he loves his dog, walks his dog and plays with him all of the time, as well as taking hom to the kennel to play with other friendly dogs during playtime. We know one dog in the neighborhood that goes without a leash up and down the street uncontained - perhaps this is 2doglovers dog. Besides, how does 2doglovers get away with making personal comments when these reviews are supposed to be about the BUSINESS. more
