This hotel in the middle of Yellowstone and across from Old Faithful geiser has been open a 100 years, and feels just like it's that time - in a good sense. Early May was a great time to visit - still a bit chilly, so all the fireplaces were on all the time, which contributed to a great atmosphere. People from all rooms socialize in the evening s on the landings, sipping beer, playing card games, or playing computer games (no Internet, as you'd expect). Great access to the best geiser fields, superb restaurants... Totally worth going to the middle of nowhere! more

Absolutely Spectacular 9/29/2005

Best place in the world and in Yellowstone, just turned 100 years old last year! Everything is wooden, all the 4 floors of it. Fireplaces everywhere, in the restaurant and in the bar. In the evening, everyone sits outside of their room on the balcony, in wooden archaird, just chatting and socializing - the most amazing thing in this day and age. The food is great, the staff friendly, the location superb. Couldn't have wished for anything better in Yellowstone! more
