Fabulous!!! 4/4/2013

I absolutely love this business. I recently moved back to the area and consistently fill up here. The staff are wonderful. My mother had a car issue over the holiday, and they were right there to take care of her. Every time you come here they wash your windows and ask you if there is anything else you need help with. I filled up last night and one of the staff members noticed my tire pressure looked low and checked all my tires and topped off the air. This is a wonderful place to have service, and I have never experienced poor service here. It is rare occasion when a business goes the extra mile, but Wood's does and I would highly recommend them. more

Bad luck for me, I guess 7/27/2012

Wood's generally gets very good reviews, so hopefully my experiences are the exception. That, and the fact that my normal mechanic is across town, is why I went with them after a very bad experience the first time I got their "help". Either way, I won't be going back for a third try.\r \r My car died and would not start, so the tow guy jumped it and it ran for approximately 2 minutes. At that point, it was towed to Wood's. I talked to the mechanic when I arrived and told him that the car would not start, it was jumped and ran for a couple minutes, and that it is probably either the battery or alternator, but I'm not sure.\r \r He told me he would get to it either later that afternoon, or the following morning. The following afternoon, after not hearing anything, I called to check if they had an estimate when they would be able to get to it. The only response I got: "I haven't got to it yet, I'll call you when it's done". The next afternoon, still haven't heard anything, so I stopped more

I bought a car from a horrible dealership and have had to take my car back and forth to woods since i bought that dang thing... the amount another place tells me is $905 for a repair and i go to woods and they are like $300 with parts and labor... haha I was like oh hells yeah!!! I love this place everyone that ive come across there has been ver helpful and I will keep using them on my car and my rommies car. they are amazing they know what they are doing and do not try to take advantage of you just because your a woman. they have no need to they have alot of business with out taken advantage of anyone. Love them.. more

Trustworthy and Fair Priced 4/11/2011

We always have service work done on our vehicles at Wood's. The owner is always friendly, and knowledgeable to us. Mike, one of the mechanics is a true wizard with anything automotive. They have never tried to oversell us repairs. I have ALWAYS felt comfortable sending my kids (two daughters and a son) to Wood's, knowing that they would be given a fair price, and have the proper mechanical diagnosis the first time. I would highly recommend their services to all of my friends. more

Emily J is way off-base... 12/30/2010

Woods has, for many years taken care of all of the car maintenance needs for my mother, who is now nearly 70. They have gone out of their way to help her, doing emergency repairs, and moving her to the front of the line when she would be stuck without a car if she had to wait. Now that I live near Okemos again, they do all of my maintenance work as well. \r \r Emily J. is COMPLETELY off base. The guys at Woods do not take advantage of women. They have helped my mom countless times when I lived too far away to come and help her.\r \r Today, I took in my car because the engine smelled funny. They found that the oil filter was loose, fixed it, and cleaned up the engine. I got out of there for $50. They could have sold me something much more expensive, and they didn't.\r \r I thank Woods for being a great part of the Okemos Community, and for always watching out for my mom. more

A nice young man 12/15/2010

I recently needed to be towed out of a rather interesting place. The young man who came was great. He was curtious, pleasant, and had a great sense of humor. He made a bad situation not seem so bad, he obviously knew what he was doing because it didn't take any time to get my car out. He did all this in the eyes of the coldest day yet in Michigan with winds gusting at 20 mph and an ambient temp of 16. more

RESPONSE TO COMPLAINT 4/19/2010

This comment is in response to the review posted by Emily J. Emily brought her 2002 VW Jetta to our facility for service on 01/29/10. She spoke directly to a mechanic, stating that her vehicle ran poorly, the engine temperature gauge stayed cold and the check engine light was flashing. Upon initial diagnosis our ASE certified mechanic discovered that her engine oil appeared milky. At that point our service manager contacted Emily and her father (as requested) to discuss his findings. Emily's father ordered us to drain and refill the engine oil, drain the coolant and blow out the heater core and coolers. We completed the service as requested.\r \r Emily states in her complaint that we told her she needed a new engine which would cost $4,000. Our service station does not sell engines, remove engines, replace engines or do heavy repairs of that sort. Additionally, we have no way of knowing how much a new engine would cost. We would have absolutely nothing to gain from telling Emily more

takes advantage of women 4/5/2010

This place was awful, they told me I had anti-freeze in my oil and once it got cold they said my block broke which is like thousands of dollars to fix. You have to buy a new engine. So I sat in Michigan for 7 weeks not knowing what to do. I finally decided to have my car shipped back to Florida where my parents lived. It wasn't even there a week and our mechanic diagnosed it saying that the coil pack needed to be replaced. It was a $500 repair. I felt as though the people at WOODS wanted to take advantage of me because I am a young women and obviously didn't know anything about cars. Either that or they just didn't know what they were doing. They were very insensitive and acted like spending $4,000 was no big deal to fix my car. My Dad called them back, and they were incredibly rude to him and said I was the one that must have dumped anti-freeze in the car?! I may be a 23 year old girl but I am not an idiot thank you. They denied even telling me all this. Too bad I have the receipt to more

Wood's Okemos Marathon is GREAT 10/9/2009

My parents have always taken their cars to Wood's, so when I got my own car, I also took my car there. The service is great, quick, reliable and honest. The owner is there and will go out of his way to make sure you know he values you as a customer. If you drop off your car and need a ride home or work they are more than willing to assist you in getting to your destination. If any of your work has a warranty on it, the station does keep records of that on file, although it is not computerized, they do have records of it. I love when you pull up just for a gas fill up, they come out and greet you, pump your gas, check your oil and fluid levels and air pressure, and this is at no additional cost. The gas prices remain the same as the surrounding gas stations. This is a phenomenal business and the staff is amazing! I highly recommend it to anyone who is in need of a repair shop! more

Honest, Dependable, Trustworthy 1/14/2009

Woods Marathon represents what every company should be in America. They always go ten extra miles to please the customer - they are so friendly - and it's sincere. I get out of my car and it's like pulling into a gas station from the 1950's where the owner of the station is there, and he cares about every customer, and the people that work there are great. They have always given us an honest and fair price on repairs. They do great work - and the one time things weren't right, they went back and made sure that they were, no extra charge (our kids own three older cars). They really value their customers, and they'll actually tell you that. I'm one of a big fan club of this service station and I hope that I've helped one more person find a reliable place to go. more

We've had Woods Okemos Marathon do a number of repair jobs. They have always been fine, fast, and reasonably priced, so we keep going back for minor things. However, we did learn that the facility doesn't keep records of their work and nothing is computerized. We now are very careful to keep our records of work done there so we can go back later and know when repairs were done and what was done, especially if a part is warranted. Knowing this, we are satisfied with them as a dependable, honest shop for minor to moderate things at a fair price. more

Fair and friendly 9/16/2007

I have had two vehicles repaired at Woods. They always seem to steer me in the right direction and give me reputable companies for repairs they can not do. \r \r The last car I took to Woods was a toss up whether the junker was worth fixing. I was a little peeved when I picked up the vechicle from Woods and was directed to another buisness to have the car welded. \r \r The total cost was $300 something to Woods Okemos and another $200 something to Bannish welding. When all was said and done with towing I spent $600 on a car. \r \r I sold for $250 six months later. The car did survive the winter and took me from point A to B until some exhuast / air intake problems forced me to park and sell it. \r \r I'd say that this situation was not really Wood's fault and they were just trying to help a student out. I think they charged a fair price for the frame they had to cobble. My last visit they turned down working on my Volvo but refered me to another garage. I still will have maintenance stuff done more
