Things are tense there, but try to see the women doctors for better care 8/17/2007

I moved to NYC several years ago, and thankfully haven't needed to see a doctor very often. On several occasions over the last few years, I have gone to DOCS on 34th street. I was seen a few times by a female doctor who was great, and often called me herself to check on me and give me results and answers to my questions very. I sent several friends to her too. Things have changed there recently. I went back and saw another doctor ""Drullinsky"" who was very abrupt. He gave me a medicine, but I wasn't sure about it because he barely took the time to listen to me, let alone examine me in any thorough way like the female doctor. I was pretty unhappy about the visit, and on my way out, I saw that he wasn't even board certified, when everyone else there was! I wondered why he wasn't! Since I was skeptical that he knew what he was doing, I called my old doctor in Colorado, who told me not to take what he gave me, and that all I needed was rest. My old doc was right on target, and I did get better in 2 days. I tried the place again in March, and this time the vibe was tense. I was immediately put in a room by a new office manager ""Tami"" and sat for a while. I told the front desk I wanted to see the female doctor this time, and they said OK. Next thing I knew, in walked Dr. Drullinsky. I told him I wanted to see the other doctor and he said ""it doesn't matter"", and proceeded to insist on going forward with the visit. I was seething inside. Since when is it OK to completely dismiss the wishes of a patient? When I went to check out, I tried to complain to Tami, but she was abrupt, rude and dismissive, and also dressed very inappropriately for a professional facility. My advice is to take this place with a grain of salt, and go there if you have no one else to go to. Try to see the females there, as I had good experience with them, and ask for the red haired nurse, who has been there forever to take care of you. She really cares.
