Javalina Cantina in Hilside es mejor 6/17/2011

Caters to unknowing tourists. Don't try it just because of its location in uptown. If you want mexican food that is more upscale, go to Javalina Cantina at the Hillside Shops along Hwy 179 or El Rincon inside Tlequapaue more

Skip this place 3/29/2011

With so many great restaurants to choose from in Sedona, one has to wonder how this place stays in business. The only explanation is that they rely on their location and virtually 100% of their customers are tourists who don't know any better. I decided to give it a try when I first arrived in town and have never been back again. I'm normally a forgiving soul and willing to give second chances, but it really was that bad. I wish CitySearch had an option for no stars. more

Yuck, go elsewhere 3/3/2011

This is one place in Sedone where I will never eat again. The only thing it has going for it is the location in uptown. I was served a cold steak that was burned on the outside and raw on the inside. Everything was bland and way overpriced. more

Terrible...at best 7/23/2008

My husband daughter and I are on a three month road trip of the US. We spent a week here in Sedona. Our budget was tight but we allowed ONE night to treat ourselves to eating out at restaurant. This place is located in the heart of the downtown shopping area. After reading the menu online we felt we could safely assume that it was your typical mexican fare...maybe even nicer....WRONG. First of all my daughter had a FLY in her lemonade. My husband and I ordered two entress that were each about 20 dollars and decided to share with our daughter because her quesidilla would have set us back 7 dollars!!!! (a bit steep for cheese and tortilla) The food was so awful. The vegetables were mushy and completely bland, the potatoes soggy, the ""chipotle BBQ chicken"" was, at best a chicken breast with bulls eye. My fish...I can't say, cause the one bite I took is in my stomach and I still feel sick at this point. I complained and we left paying only for our drinks. Which when I think about it had a FLY in it, so I shouln't have even paid for that. Felt bad for the server she gave me the impression that this happens all the time. There is a Taco Del Mar on HWY 89. Pros: The soda and margarita were without flies Cons: is it too much to say everything?? more

Terrible, mediocre food. 2/22/2008

Ugh. Don't bother with this place. This is essentially a super-americalized mexican food place, similar to El Torito or Acapulco's. Loud, garish, with food that's not even remotely authentic, just stay away unless you are looking to punish yourself. Pros: The upstairs seating has a great view of the beautiful Sedona skyline Cons: Terrible, terrible food. more

Waste of Time and Money-Mediocre 4/4/2006

Oaxaca is featured in all the tourist guides for Sedona. Our waiter had no personality, never smiled and seemed to dislike his job. Chips were cold, salsa was not fresh and tasted bad. Hubbie had a taco and cheese enchiladas combo- $12.25.bland. I had beef flaunta and chicken Pollo Fundido combo. The flaunta was overcooked, the Fundido had good flavor, but no sauce. When I asked didn't it come with a sauce, the waiter said no. I just checked the website while writing this review and its supposed to have melted cheese. Guacamole was bland, hot chocolate was watery. All the food was below average. The views from the window facing the Hwy was gorgeous and ALMOST worth the price of the meal. I really think the only thing that keeps this restaurant in business is the tourist trade and that it is conveniently located to downtown Sedona shopping. Pros: great view, location Cons: food, service, everything else more

For Tourists ONLY! 5/31/2005

Nothing in this place is above average and the food is particularly poor. Their customer base consists mostly of tourists, as locals have several other good Mexican restaurant choices in Cottonwood and Sedona. Pros: Roof Top seating Cons: Poor Food, Slow Service more
