This a great zoo to take the kids to. Its not as big as the San francisco zoo, but you can still have a lot of fun without walking miles and miles. And it has a little train that you can take near the front of teh zoo. Overall, its a great way to spend the day with the kids. And there is a parking lot so you don't have to drive around to look for a space. Its a fun place to be. more

Oakland Zoo 9/27/2005

This zoo is not as large as the San Francisco zoo, but it definitely did not lack in fun. It was nce to be able to visit all of teh exhibits and animals in less than 4 hours. I liked the train ride that allows you to travel almost all the way around the zoo. That was a great experience. I also noticed that they had mini carnival rides just at the entrance to the zoo for all the children. Overall the Oakland zoo was a fun place to visit. Highly recommended for family fun. more

The Oakland Zoo is located off of Golf Links Rd in Oakland and has many attractions for the young and old to keep coming back to every now and then. The zoo is pretty well maintained by the staff in is clean enough for the visitors. Be prepared during school session because they have field trips here for students all the time. I don’t think its better than the San Francisco Zoo but its still worth the visit. more

I have always loved going to the Okland zoo even as a kid. My family would have a picnic on the picnic grounds right next to the zoo where they have barbeque grills available and picnic tables with benches. They have huge grassy areas for baseball games or just running around. After we eat we would walk over to the zoo and look at all the animals. It's just a great place to spend the day in. more

The Oakland Zoo is a great place to take children who are interested in animals. It offers a nice petting zoo for children and sells nutritional pellets so the kids can even feed the animals! It also offers a variety of on-site, mobile educational programs and tours. It also provides a spacious hall for receptions, meetings, and parties with a great view of the bay! more

This is a nice zoo to take your kids/ family to. It has a lot of fun activities like a petting zoo, etc. There are so many fascinating animals to look at I bet you will probably find yourSELF ingulfed in watching these critters. Your kids will enjoy it, and probably ask to come again. But remember, be safe, keep your little darlings by you at all times. more

Oakland Zoo is a fun place for the kids and parents. There are loads of animals to see. You can practically spend the whole day there. You should bring your own lunch since the food is expensive. Overall it is a great place to have quality time with your family and friends. more

a fun outing 8/17/2005

Oakland Zoo isn't a world class zoo by any means, but it is a fun outing for the family. There is enough of a variety of animlas that you won't get bored, and their new children's petting zoo is sure to delight the younger members of your family. All of the standard animals are here (elephant, lion, tiger, monkeys, snakes) as well as a good selection of more exotic ones. The worst part about the zoo is the rides. You are almost forced to exit into the rides section and of course these are not covered by your admission ticket (even the zoo train). So you will end up shelling out extra for your kids to experience the rides. If you plan on going more then 2 or 3 times in a year it makes sense to get an annual pass, especially since the pass includes free parking. more

Oakland Zoo 8/15/2005

The Oakland Zoo isn't as big as the San Francisco Zoo but my kids love this zoo nonetheless. I think it's because after we go around looking at all the different animals in the zoo there is a little amusement park where they get to ride on the kiddie rides. I remember enjoying this as a kid myself and loved the pony rides they had. They no longer have that for some reason though. more

World class zoo in the Bay Area 8/14/2005

The Oakland Zoo has undergone numerous improvements over the years, and is now home to hundreds of species of animals, including several exotic ones. The ring tailed lemur exhibit, now located in the Children's Zoo, was a favorite of mine as a kid, and still is. Be sure to also pay a visit to the chimpanzee and Bengal tiger exhibits, just a couple of several endangered species housed within the zoo. All in all, a wonderful and educational experience. more

Wonderful 8/13/2005

The Oakland Zoo is a wonderful place to go during free time with the kids since there are so many interesting things to see and do. It exciting to see little kids enjoying wlld life. We went to the zoo about 3 times this summer and so far each visit is very fun. One of my favorites is the tiger. I would recommend a family trip to the zoo for a great time. more

Small children will enjoy a glimpse of nature 8/13/2005

I always enjoyed going to the Oakland Zoo when I was younger. Although it is smaller than some other places, it is also closer for those traveling from the suburbs. There is a good selection of animals, and it's a great place for families to bring their children without being too crowded. more

The Oakland Zoo, also known as the Knowland Zoo, is a wonderful zoo albeit a little smaller by comparison to the on in San Francisco. They have a children's zoo but they only have a few animals there and the main attraction are the goats that are wandering freely around. At a fee you can purchase food for these goats and feed them. They also have a sky lift that can take you to the other end of the zoo and back again. The view from up there is wonderful. There is an area by the parking lot where they have a number of rides for kids like a small amusement park. more

We love the Oakland Zoo. even though it is a smaller zoo, it is perfectfor little onies. i love the fact that you can let your little one explore a little more, let them out of the stroller and walk on their own. At the zoo they have rides also. We love riding the train and the merry-go- round. it is nice a t the zoo since you do not have to spend the whole do there, you can spend have a day and come back again soon. more

Good zoo 6/23/2005

Probably lives a little bit in the shadows of the San Francisco Zoo, but it's worth a trip out for sure. They have some neat little features like a mini train ride, a sky ride and a set of carnival rides. And cool animals, got to have those. It's located in the hills in Oakland, which is kind of nice. more
