fun but cramped 9/13/2007

i always like this place, but i've yet to go there when it's not totally packed and hard to move. get there earlier to actually get a spot at the bar or be able to play pool. fun music and fun scene, very collegeish atmosphere. Pros: fun, loud, popular Cons: everyone knows about it more

Northstar Cafe has sponsored our men's fastpitch softball team for the last 4 years, gave us hats this year as well (uh, most bars don't actually give you that much) and the best is a free beer after the game. Most of the players travel in on Thursdays from all over the Bay Area, and to play a competitive game then hang out in a great North Beach spot is really a good thing. Pretty yuppie girls actually talk to us! Thanks Mark! more

Chillin' 5/9/2004

Cool place. Drinks are very reasonable and the staff is really friendly. Not a ton of talent here but some here and there. Overall, a fun place just to chill and have some drinks. It can get pretty crowded around 11-12 on Fridays, Saturdays. Capp's Corner across the street is even more mellow but it has tons of charm and its worth checking out. Pros: Friendly, Prices, No Attitude more

A good bar 8/19/2003

Pretty good all-around bar, and if you are in the area, a nice place to stop in. Very good for meeting up before you go to a nearby dance club. The crowd is good, the service is attentive and good. Pros: Crowd, Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

and this place knows it. they make efforts to take care of the folks that are nice to them and others. just a great dive bar. occasionally has great bands like whiskey pills and the pbr street band - because they're regulars too. more

Northstar- my home 2/26/2003

Never have I known a bar that makes me feel more at home- it is like a little community within the walls. The management offers trips to games, skiing, concerts- they run fun contests too. They often have fun, free live music. They ask customers to submit requests to add to the great jukebox. The bartenders are the nicest in the city. It is just fun, fun, fun- a definite happy place! Everyone stops by- and there is always a story from Northstar! Pros: fun, fun, fun more
