It’s famous, it hails from the Italian section of town, people swear by their pies… ...so why is the pizza be so frickin' lousy at North Beach Pizza? One time we ordered a bunch of pizzas and they came soaking wet. No, it wasn’t raining, it was just how they made them with lots of watery ingredients that caused everything to fall asunder. Other times, you could actually pick the pizza up and get it to your mouth without liquefying – sure, big improvement – but maybe if the crust was thinner and tastier than the cardboard box it arrived in, that would have been even better. Good grief. more

Deeper dish - more toppings 11/17/2005

This is a great pizza if you prefer a lot of topping and a thicker crust. I prefer to go to the original north beach pizza --- in north beach - it's a little difficult to find (you have to walk up the hill), but well worth working up the appetite. This place has a real charm and reflects the old school feel of north beach, which is what made this chain famous. Plean well ahead for parking. more

North Beach Pizza is a great place to eat when for lunch or dinner. They have a wide variety of Italian food, whether you feel like having pizza, pasta, or sub sandwiches. The location is near San Francisco's famous Pier 39, a convenient tourist attraction where many people visit when they come to the city. The price of the restaurant is neither expensive nor inexpensive, and the quality of the food is great. Although the restaurant is a bit small, its good service and quality of food makes up for it. more

Best Pizza in the City! 7/13/2005

This tiny pizzeria tucked away in North Beach is the original NB pizza location, of which there are many throughout the area. Whenever I am showing people around, I love to take through North Beach and eat here- though the restaurant at this location is teeny tiny. The pizzas are *excellent* with a nice, thick crust. They also deliver just about everywhere which is great. On my last visit I was disappointed to learn they don't have any highchairs but this wasn't going to stop me from getting my favorite pizza, so we ordered one to go and ate at the park down the street :) They did have booster seats though- however, that won't help my 10 month-old son! If you haven't eaten here, you're definitely missing out! more
